Sorry for the noise, I was just moving the goalposts back to where you originally had them set before you were proven wrong.

It's irrelevant if its the same IPs or not. The highest scoring 1st party games of the year were games by MS which also launched day 1 on GamePass, so if the quality of said games has deteriorated (according to the CFO above), yet they're still higher than Sony and Nintendo games, what does that s...

I said it when HFW got delayed and I'll say it again now: Delays suck for consumers who are hyped for the game, but are good for the quality of the game and the health of the industry & it's staff. No one should be working 100+ hour weeks on a video game.

This also won't be the last AAA delay we see this year, guaranteed.

Everyone: NFSU remake please
EA: Here's a mobile game... by a company which is universally disliked by gamers.

Putting the Chief FINANCIAL Officer out to explain to consumers why they need to pay $70 for games... seems legit.

The only thing that would 'deteriorate' are their financials.

The facts don't really back up your point:

In 2021:
- The highest scored 1st party game for the year is an MS game
- MS first party games were the only first party games to score >= 90 on Metacritic

Chip shortage is really hurting Sony - sold 1.3m less consoles than the same quarter last FY.

First party sales are strong though - 14.5m units.

@SonyStyled I'm comparing DRM to DRM.

My singleplayer racing game requires me to be connected to the internet (and for their servers to be up) to race against AI.

I don't care about esports or professional tournaments, nor do I intend to participate in such things, I just want to play my racing game which cost $70. Therefore, it's unnecessary, always online DRM that infringes upon my ability to play.

So my point stands true,...

"Either way I don’t think the ‘Big 3’ need to be listening since 2 of them haven’t perused console and game DRM- and thus those manufacturers have been listening, watching the others mistake."

Have they? One of them just launched an unjustified always-on singleplayer experience... which also went down and was unplayable...

The only one who MIGHT be innocent here is Nintendo, but that could also just be a lack of information on our side. We typic...

We report articles covering temporary outages. Typically, by the time an article get approved the outage is already resolved, so the outage news is outdated. I've flagged PSN outages before too. Not sure what your point is?

Articles covering the wider effects of an outage (e.g. always-on DRM) are fair game.

Completely unacceptable - especially after the 2013 mess. People need to keep the pressure up on them & don't let up - that's the only way the big 3 listen.

Also, wasn't 'My Home Xbox' meant to take care of this? That path needs to work offline as a bare minimum requirement.

Really hope this is legit. TF2 was great and needs a sequel. I just hope they don’t screw it up.

@darkrider But he seems happy with his purchase, so why are you trying to convince him that he should be unhappy?

The argument of paying more to buy a PS5 is irrelevant:

1. He said he already has a PS5
2. $100 is a lot of money to a lot of people. That's 33% more than a Series S.
3. Maybe he wanted the Series S to play Zenimax games like Starfield, ES6 etc? Or perhaps for GamePass? You're assuming that what he wants is available ...

I loved the Getaway. Its controls are/were a bit dated and hard to use, but playing what is basically GTA in London was really cool. Such a great setting for a criminal underground gangster game. I like that it flipped between the cops and the criminals.

Sequel was good too, and the tech demo they released for PS3 with Amsterdam as an extra setting looked great. I was pretty disappointed when it got canned.

Isn’t Starfield an Xbox console exclusive? I doubt that game is going to fail.

1507d ago 6 agree8 disagreeView comment

But isn’t that the entire point of the S? You can play all the current gen games with some visual sacrifice in return for a far lower cost of entry.

It’s the lower budget entry level console for those not wanting to spend upwards of $500.

One would hope that a $500 console is a significant upgrade over a $300 one.

I'm not actually advocating for that at all. I was just pointing out that a title being UE5 doesn't mean it wont come to last gen. Nothing more, nothing less.

I do look forward to when we see 'proper' UE5 titles though. The engine looks phenomenal, miles ahead of anything else out there today.

Shrug, I trust the publisher, they are the ones who see the actual sales numbers and $$$. PCF have stated previously that Square don't share such figures with them.

Perhaps PCF should've negotiated a better royalty agreement.

Huge milestone, congratulations to Nintendo & those who worked on Switch.

1507d ago 5 agree3 disagreeView comment

Square seemed happy with the titles performance. Perhaps they just didn't pass royalties onto PCF - perhaps due to GamePass not counting towards sales - who knows what the contract stipulated.
