“Gaming isn't series or movies it take years to make a single game not weeks or months.”

I think you’re underestimating how much time is spent on movies and TV shows… most aren’t being churned out after a few weeks of work.

Sucks that the guys game didn’t perform well, but alienating a huge user base like Xbox probably isn’t the best way to boost future sales on the platform.

GamePass itself is great for indies though. They get a guaranteed dollar value and great publicity and marketing from MS that they wouldn’t get otherwise.

The problem is getting into GamePass. You can’t just opt in, you have to pitch it to your account manager and have MS accept it and they have limited...

It’s out in October assuming no more delays so we should see a lot more soon.

I do miss the old days where we got playable demos of everything though!

The load times improvements this generation are great - the only downside being the tiny space on the consoles.

Not sure there’s much for devs to learn though - the APIs on console and DirectStorage on PC make it pretty straight forward.

Glad to see these improvements come to PC too: https://n4g.com/news/247218...

I do wonder who FIFA are going to partner up with for their new game... the only real option is surely Konami.

Please be good, please be good, please be good.

In other words, don't be like Homecoming or Downpour. Thanks!

@PICAYU So much speculation in that comment I don't even know where to begin. Infact it's 100% speculation.

It'll be a very long wait for something that doesn't exist, yes. Like I said above, I wonder if this is coming out before or after the 10 years in development MGS1 remake /s

Back in the real world though, PS+ Premium launches next month, so presumably it'll be launching with Bloobers back catalog. That's a nice value add for ...

It has to be a reveal of something releasing this year, not 2023 or later. Not sure where that big reveal would come from really, not Xbox first party that's for sure.

They'll have to crack open the checkbook and pay for third party exclusives OR gamepass day 1 deals.

It could be new Bloober titles from their in-house IPs for sure, and/or their existing back catalog. It's vague for sure in that regard.

There's a few things we can derive with reasonable accuracy though:
1. It's not Silent Hill, since Bloober wouldn't need to grant the license to Sony. Konami would, unless Bloober have bought the IP.
2. "the new distribution system" is likely PS+ Premium.

I do hope a new SH gam...

@PICAYU You've got a very long wait ahead of you then if you're waiting on a PS+ Exclusive new Silent Hill title. I guess congrats to Bloober on acquiring the rights to Silent Hill from Konami, not sure how they afforded that /s

@Knight: Sort of. The developer is obviously involved because they have to port to Xbox. But the decision to put it on GamePass was purely between Microsoft & the publisher (the MLB). So similarly here, if Konami licensed it to Sony, or ...

We're also skipping on an obvious fact here that blows a huge hole in this whole speculative theory:

Sony are not doing huge day 1 releases in PS+ premium, nor any 1st/2nd party day 1 releases on the service, and SH would fall into both of those categories.

Do I believe a new SH title is in development? Yes. But this ain't it.

"the Issuer has concluded a significant license and distribution agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC for the distribution of selected titles of the Issuer in the new distribution system." (The Issuer in this case is Bloober)

If your statements are true, that would mean that the SH license now belongs to Bloober, since they are extending the license to Sony for distribution in a 'new system' (Likely PS+ premium).

This is qui...

@PICAYU It looks like you've misunderstood what I'm saying.

I'm not saying it is impossible for Konami to license SH to Sony, that is entirely possible.

What I'm saying is, there's no scenario where Konami and Sony, as the license holder and publisher, need the permission of a work-for-hire studio to release the game on PS+. Bloober would hold no rights to the distribution of SH.

1499d ago 3 agree16 disagreeView comment

@PICAYU That's not how work for hire works.

You're saying Konami gave the license to Sony, who then paid a developer to make a game for Sony.

In this case the developer is simply being paid to develop a game, they have no say in where it is distributed - that is fully down to Sony and/or Konami. It's no different from the setup with the MLB & GamePass - the publisher decides where a game is distributed, not the developer.

"Konami wouldn't be the publisher if the game was licensed to Sony and Sony hired Bloober to make it."

If the game was licensed directly to Sony by Konami, and Sony had hired a developer to work on it, they wouldn't need an agreement with the developer to publish the game on PS+ - it's work-for-hire contract work at that point. They'd either be free to put it on PS+, or they'd have to talk to Konami to have it in the licensing terms.
...

"They do not have the pedigree."

I think that's the criteria Konami looks for in a developer when outsourcing SH, if the latest entries are anything to go by :P

1499d ago 2 agree19 disagreeView comment

Quite clear that this would be The Medium etc and has nothing to do with Silent Hill.

Any distribution agreement for PS+ would be between Sony and the publisher - which would be Konami for SH. The only agreement Bloober would sign for SH (if they are working on it) would be with Konami.

@Petebloodyonion They're going to have to crack open the MS checkbook and pay 3rd parties for exclusivity deals.

@Elda Didn't they already announce a new Forza game? Motorsport, not Horizon.

I expect all 3 to be delayed. Prior to today, I was expecting GOW and Redfall to be delayed since they've both been pretty silent. I (and others) believed Starfield would come out since it's pretty standard for Todd Howard to show nothing until E3 before release, but alas, the tail end of COVID continues to hit the industry.
