To be fair, when talking about the 'power of the cloud', they didn't say when, it just took 10 years 😂
It barely had enough to run current gen games at launch in 2013 :p
But I guess you could argue it is still running games released today, even if at very low resolutions and/or framerates.
As darth said below, XCloud is the (only) saving grace for a 2013 Xbox One owner.
@Silly but a quick look at your past comments suggest that even when a game is a few frames off of 60, it’s a big deal.
Yet suddenly a 10fps gap, a roughly 17% delta, is fine.
This is a big deal, PAL versions of old games were known to be more sluggish and in some cases even exhibit different game behavior/mechanics.
@Silly It wasn’t that people weren’t into back compat, it’s that they weren’t into $599 consoles that arrived a year later than and ran a lot of games worse than the cheaper competitor console.
Price is always #1.
So you play all your games at 50Hz instead of 60 and 25Hz instead of 30?
If I understand correctly, this won't apply to ones you got from CDKeys. It's hitting people who acquired PS+/PSNow via official discounts on the PS store.
The other part would hit you though, the part where if you choose to upgrade tier, you'd need to upgrade for the entire duration of your existing subscription.
Day 1 for me. MW2019 was one of the best COD games in a while.
I believe they're highlighting the fact that GP has more than just AAA games that make it worth subscribing.
I'd also say people unsubscribing during dry periods happens to most of these subscription services. I can't count the number of times I've unsubscribed from movie and game services only to resubscribe later.
That being said, we don't know what its current subscriber numbers are. Just because a few folk on Twitter left, means no...
@Christopher I don't disagree with any of what you said. I think the problem for MS is, if they really want to keep up that 'regular AAA games in GP' thing, they need their own 1st party studios to be pumping out content more reliably and more frequently, because acquiring third party AAA content that regularly isn't feasible.
Hopefully that comes over time/soon, if not they have to seriously ask what is going on given they've acquired/are acquiring Zeni...
Yeah, but the indie games that are out there today (not just those on GP) are definitely not to be ignored. I find myself having more fun with random/obscure indie games nowadays than a lot of big AAA releases.
I expect more GP games to be announced at the MS E3 event, I think that's why they're being pretty quiet on GP additions lately.
But either way, it's obvious that content streaming services like GP and PS+ will rely on indie games to a ...
The response from Game Pass sums up Kotaku perfectly:

Fair point, Nintendo has always been really good at keeping leaks under wraps though - but the same can't be said for the Western parts of the industry.
I wonder how they're controlling the leaks so well. This lack of leaks used to be normal, but in recent years everything seems to leak out early and we start hearing about things sometimes years before release etc.
Pretty hyped to play this game this week, having played none of the prior entries. The gameplay looks like a good combination of MGS stealth & Hitman.
Like every other company does at E3 you mean :P
Also, more powerful PCs don't have less bugs... bugs are coding issues.
Only a few weeks away now!
+1 They need to bring KZ back.
I get why people are hesitant to make FPS games when COD has basically swallowed up all the dollars there - but there’s some COD fatigue going on for sure so there’s an opportunity for them to come in and mix things up a bit / do something a bit different.
@Hatchet Sure maybe some of them legitimately hate Sony, but a bunch of PS gamers just wanted a bit better value for their buck and something similar to GP, myself included.
It’s the same way Xbox gamers were looking over the fence and seeing better first party games and demanded the same from MS - likely contributing to their acquisitions.
Like I said, it’s not a bad sub and it will please a good amount of the user base - but it’s not GamePass until it h...
I dunno - I don’t play Forza, and if I did I probably wouldn’t rewind in a racing game as that’s kinda lame.
But take a platformer like Abe’s or Crash. You can basically just keep rewinding until you nail that jump or enemy kill etc, or save after each hit/phase of a boss etc. It also breaks trophies a bit.
That being said, it’s optional, but still.
This will become the norm going forward, and we'll start seeing the window reduce and reduce until releases are day 1. The Sony presentation from this week outlines their plans.
More money/investment in the ecosystem is a good thing.
