They don't have the power to halt an acquisition... that is way above their paygrade and falls under the federal government, not a state or city government.
I agree 100% with you, but these people always seem to get let off the hook with it unfortunately. Being rich and powerful gives you protection I guess.
I'd rather see him held accountable, but I really doubt that'll happen. Hopefully he is gone from the industry after the acquisition and doesn't move onto another game company / start something new.
These look awesome, better than the stock Series S design. I just wish they'd make these special consoles available for purchase.
It seems nowadays, for both PS and Xbox, special consoles are becoming more and more tied to competitions which you have no chance of winning.
"New York City is demanding Activision provide a long list of documents, including material related to the Microsoft deal, info on five possible buyers cited in Activision’s official description of the sale talks, board memos and more."
I would be very interested in seeing the list of 5 interested parties.
Aside from that, I don't expect much to come of this. NYC doesn't hold authority to hold up acquisitions and this deal is going to sa...
I'm kinda surprised this game wasn't already cross-play. Sports games seem like the perfect genre to be cross-play.
@sinspirit Sort of. I'd half agree if there was such a button on the website :P
Modern engines will indeed benefit from the faster memory (of which XSX has the fastest currently). But both consoles are still going to be stuck with ~10GB of graphics memory (after deducting the memory for the OS and memory for the actual game logic data / non-graphics data).
There's always data associated with the game logic that does not need fast memory at all, e....
Very strong month, and GP has still got FIFA, BF2042, and AC to come.
Excited to play Trek to Yomi. For some reason I thought that wasn't coming to PC game pass.
The day 1 drops (1st and 3rd party) continue to be what puts GamePass head and shoulders above all other subscription services.
@SierraGuy:
You're still spreading technical information that is inaccurate.
"The difference between PS5 and XBox SeriesX is that the former can use all of its 16GB at full speed"
No it cannot... neither of them can utilize the full 16GB for gaming, at any speed. If they did, you'd be back in the PS2 days where there was no OS running and you rebooted the console to switch game.
"which is a prob...
And when the situation changes, I'll post something different...
@SierraGuy The tech details in your comment are incorrect.
1. The split memory is irrelevant really, on both consoles, developers are not able to utilize anywhere close to the full 16GB of memory due to OS reservations. so realistically you end up with about 12-13GB, of which, you won't use it all for graphics since the game logic itself has to run / store things in memory. So you end up storing game logic data in the 'slow' memory (because it is not time sensit...
Great idea. It's such an important topic/area and something that people still don't discuss or seek help with enough.
Agreed. I don't think anyone believes XSX is going to outsell PS5, and the gap would be larger if resources weren't an issue.
It wouldn't be another XB1 though for sure, MS would have to really screw up (again) for that. There's always time for major screw ups though... it's early in the generation!
We can talk about 'what if' scenarios all day long - but it won't change the above numbers. They are what they are.
We do play games indeed, not sales - but this is a sales article. If we're talking about playing games... then there is barely any reason to buy a PS5 or XSX - I could save $500 or $1000 and play on my PS4/XB1, most games are cross-gen.
Quite literally Fisher Price "My First Xbox Controller" 😂
Kids would love this though I bet.
Much, much closer between the Sony and MS consoles this generation. This is not your Xbox One vs PS4 battle.
Switch is still killing it though, and despite Nintendo forecasting 10% less units due to the chip shortage, will continue to keep knocking down records.
300m for all of those studios and IPs seems like a complete steal. Crazy.
I would love a sequel to JD - although I do realize that Hello Games have kinda grown beyond that scope of game.
@mkis The PC is always the place where you can get everything thanks to emulators etc.
But still, XSX and XB1 plays substantially more metal gear games than any other recent console, so my statement stands true.
We’ll still see more cross gen games after this game I’m sure.
Also need to see more of Starfield at E3 to know if it as a game is truly a turning point.
@Pete Sony/PS signed a deal to use Azure, so why would Epic go to Sony for cloud infrastructure? Just bypass the middleman and go straight to MS/Azure.
@sinspirit You don't need your own cloud to host online services. Most online services are hosted on Azure & AWS.
