Well deserved. I’m enjoying the game so far, having played none of its predecessors. For me, it feels kinda like a crossover of Hitman and MGS5.
Thank god. The BattleNet client is awful and it’s annoying to install 100 launchers, especially publisher specific launchers.
Steam + Epic + GamePass app should be all you need.
I'm going to jump in and try it out. Watched a lot of gameplay videos and it looks like an old school nostalgic platformer.
Reviews for this were a mixed bag but it still looks like it could be a fun little platformer - especially at $30 - and we don’t have many of those coming out at any price point.
That’s standard though - those games are free on all platforms.
Paying for online is so early 2000’s though.
“as for all of you saying PS back compat is soooo easy....PS2 had a custom Emotion Engine chip. ”
But… an Xbox Series S can do PS2, and does it better than this despite being weaker, so why can’t a PS5?
“Xbox has always had standard PC parts and architecture. That is why it is so EASY to emulate all previous Xbox hardware, while it is more DIFFICULT for PS.......EXCEPT PS4 and PS5 which share the SAME architecture”
This is complete garba...
Hard to disagree there. EA struck gold by acquiring Respawn.
It's been rumored for ages they were working on this, but glad to see it announced. Very hyped for this, the first one was great.
@Sully They are smashing it, and I agree credit where credit is due.
But this is 100% a play on words. The PS4 at this point in its lifespan had a smooth supply of units, whereas the PS5 doesn't, so of course it will sell more per minute, for the 10 minutes where it is in stock, and then it will be zero for subsequent minutes for days/weeks, whereas PS4 would have continuously sold every minute of every day.
So I'd expect the 'selling more per...
That is one hell of a play on words to inflate corporate stats. Gotta keep the shareholders happy!
I'd love for proper PS3 back compat too, just being able to pop in my PS3 games and play would be awesome. So many good games from that generation and streaming them doesn't really cut it for me.
I'd be more forgiving on the state of the current back compat if it was free / your existing disks worked, but alas, Sony are looking to charge us $18/mo to access this emulator, or $5-$10 per game to buy, so it should be up to par.
I'd forgotten ...
Haha, I find the cameras/controls etc on old games brutal for the first maybe 20-30 minutes but you can get used to them!
The gameplay in a lot of these older games is still more fun than a lot of modern games to me. Plus nostalgia is a hell of a drug!
Xbox Back Compat didn't launch in this kind of mess, nowhere near it.
The enhancements like FPS boost etc came later, but at launch the games weren't 25 and 50fps European editions, nor were they struggling to hold target framerate.
An Xbox Series S runs PS1/2 games better than this.
@Pete Totally agree with you on the emulator comment. And don’t get me started on Mario AllStars :p
RIP. A great actor, in both games and movies.
“Regarding the frame rate, it's important to remember that emulation is well, emulation”
But Sony should be able to emulate their own consoles better than open source projects do.
There are plenty of open source PS1/2 emulators written by people with no past knowledge of the platform that outperform this - even on an Xbox Series S.

Slides 32-35 cover PC growth and expansion plans through 2025.
Nothing to wish about, that's straight from the Sony shareholders meeting that just happened.
What's bad about having more money in the ecosystem? Means more investment in games & studios.
Steam has more CCU than PS, Xbox and Switch. It's not a minority group at all.
The only games console you ‘need’ is Nintendo’s (if you like their first party games).
The rest you will be able to play on PC (and with better graphics/performance) & via streaming.
