@Flavor None of those games you listed actually run at 900p resolution though...

Dying Light 2 is 1080p@30, and for context... PS5 and XSX were 1080p60... so clearly there are engine/dev issues there
Cyberpunk is 1440p
The Division 2 is 1080p (this game also never got an actual next-gen update, it's back compat on all platforms)

Aside from that, if you buy a budget entry level console - you know what you are getting, if you don't...

So I'm saving 79GB of space and bandwidth by not buying this game for a third time :P

Also take these sizes with a grain of salt, they have changed in the past and likely will again when the game is still this far off - unless the game has already gone gold.

Yeah, definitely art assets that are causing the majority of this bulk up. There is probably also an audio cost increase, I'd imagine the quality has increased, especially to support the extra channels we (some, not all) have available to us today.

AI is probably minuscule yeah, most of it would be code (and an entire elf/binary only runs a couple hundred megs max) and associated binary data that will be highly compressible.

100% Love this. Very well thought out comment. Ignore the downvoters - they're on the wrong side of things.

I would've been up for a Scarface 2. Not gonna lie though, that concept art thumbnail looked like GTA SA at first.

Day 1 sales aren't too great it seems, lets see what the latter days include. Still love that Gaben thumbnail though.

Quality over Quantity.

Still zero plans to upgrade tier until 1st party games are there, and in an ideal world, PS3 games aren't streamed.

MS who just fired someone of similar statute to Kotick over less? Yes. No deflection at all.

@Eonjay Demote him and make him report to those he abused and exploited over the years

@Hatchet well another way of looking at it is, they’re doing a favor to the employees of Activision who will now get better working conditions.

@Godmars Literally zero chance of him becoming head of MS lol. Phil Spencer won’t even get that role, it’ll be someone on the more corporate side of things who understands azure etc, gaming isn’t about to take over Microsoft.

Yes, like I said you can play offline, but you're playing on extreme difficulty then and you're not playing the game how Kojima meant for it to be played.

But yes, DS is a cloud game, as is his new game.

DS is also a cloud game. You can play offline, but it's basically like playing on extreme difficulty.

"There comes a point where there's just too much dirt in the public eye to ignore"

Kotick is definitely far beyond that point. Infact, I'd say his behavior and the work culture he fostered is even worse than the Kipman situation - which bodes well for MS getting rid of him.

1462d ago 3 agree6 disagreeView comment

Microsoft just got rid of a technical fellow who was a leader in the AR space and brought them in stacks of cash including huge US military contracts etc. for similar behavior.

No way they're keeping Kotick around.

It would need to be Activision who cut him (at this time) - and they won't shake the jello during an acquisition.

Microsoft have zero say in anything at this time. It's a bit like being in closing on a house. You can see the ugly wallpaper but you can't quite pull it off until all the paperwork is complete.

He's gone under MS for sure. No way they're going to keep such an employee around. Imagine the PR disaster.

1462d ago 10 agree18 disagreeView comment

Not sure that's anything to do with MS - they have zero say in goings on at Activision prior to the acquisition being approved.

That being said, we all know he gets a payout for being booted out, but sometimes you just have to bite that bullet. It's a better option than having him in the industry for another decade or two - for both employees and gamers.

It's actually not that hard - simply put strong day 1 content on there. It's only hard to compete because Sony chose to make it hard to compete.

This looks pretty neat, my kinda puzzle game. Going to pick it up on Steam.

They were always going to re-elect the same guy during a transition period like this. The sooner the MS deal closes the better, get him out of the door ASAP.

Definitely not blaming them. Smart business is smart business.

Yeah - but that’s old news. Nintendo announced that they weren’t attending a few weeks back.
