It’s pretty simply really - no one en masse is abusing developers, sending female employees nudes, issuing death threats etc against developers for their game not being on PS+ or PC or whatever - so there’s no article on it 🤷
Wanting better value for your buck is fine. Abuse is not. The two are not even remotely comparable.
Even SSM and Cory have spoken out against it. Nothing to do with it being GoW, unless you’re saying they also have an ‘agenda...
Always cool to see modders get offered professional opportunities for their efforts.
“The promise of next-gen – or at least, Sony's version of it – ultimately feels empty when the basic anatomy of a working controller still hasn't been nailed down by the giants of our industry.”
He has a fair point - it’s 2022 and the big companies still cannot get controllers right.
Most are. Some contract roles do exist - mainly those hired temporarily or lower paid positions (e.g. QA).
Absolutely abhorrent behavior. This is what I was referring to the other day when I commented on here about developers getting abuse over delays - except this game isn't even delayed yet! They're now just abusing developers for not announcing a release date.
Go out and touch grass.
Not in the US. I've seen Europeans be paid overtime though.
Salaried employees typically don't get paid overtime in most, if not all states.
Looks like it’ll be a fun coop experience. I’ll grab it day 1 via GamePass.
I wouldn’t even put the adoption at 10-15% tbh. It’s less than 5% if we’re talking about PS4 owners who have a PSVR.
Heck, even the Kinect outsold PSVR by 4x
VR just hasn’t taken off in the way people were expecting. The overwhelming majority of consumers prefer traditional gaming experiences.
“Why not both” is how I feel about them.
I comment on things as I approve them, so yes, I’m typically first or one of the first to comment.
“ I understand you have much time to spare until 2023”
So you’re saying Ragnarok WILL be delayed into 2023?
Plenty of third party games to play though so your statement is inaccurate.
Both look great. Framerate is also key with this game. I'm probably going to pick this up again for the Switch - I absolutely love Portal and being able to take it with me to hotels etc. when travelling will be great.
Everything is 'not delayed' until it is.
There have been many day 1 GP titles. A quick list off the top of my head:
- Halo
- Forza Horizon 5 (the highest rated first party game of 2021)
- Psychonauts 2
- MLB The Show 21 + 22
- Hades (the 4th highest rated game of 2021)
- Back4Blood
- Sniper Elite 5
Sorry, but the reality is nothing of those scales or scores is coming to PS+ day 1. MLB, a Sony made game, isn't even on the service.
...
True, although Sony would also have known they would be releasing the new PS+ months in advance. But yes, contracts could've already been in place that they couldn't back out of.
We'll wait and see how it all plays out anyways.
I never said it was wholly the gamers fault - obviously corporations are to blame too, but yes, gamers contribute.
The next time a big game gets delayed, go on the developers twitter and see how much abuse they get - both the company and the individuals who work there. Some will even be getting death threats if the game is big enough.
And no naivety at all on my part - I've lived through game delays myself, seen how much potential community reaction i...
But we're all guilty of enabling the behavior. People complain vehemently when games are delayed.
He is right that it's unfair to blame that culture on one studio when it is an industry wide standard. Looking at your name, you're a fan of ND, who are renowned for some of the worst crunch in the industry, so you've likely also contributed to the problem.
He's not wrong that it's standard in the industry (unfortunately). That being said, MS are the biggest corporation which is in gaming, they should be leading the way, so I expect better leadership than 'it's the standard so let's keep doing it'.
I hate game delays, but the standard should be to delay games instead of making people work themselves into the grave. Hopefully their working conditions get better now that they're part of MS.
I naively bought this game purely out of nostalgia, having not seen the reviews at the time, and it was a total mess, I ended up barely playing it. They claim they've basically remade it, fixed the bugs and 'fixed' the art style etc, so hopefully they're being truthful, and I can actually revisit XIII and finish it.
Assuming they are being truthful, fair play to them for sticking to it and correcting the game. Time will tell though.
Agreed. Abuse is never ok - they owe us a fix / the product we believed we were getting when we purchased it.
No amount of online abuse would’ve fixed CP or BF either.
Hopefully most devs can just drown them out - there are plenty of legit fans of their work out there, especially GOW.
