Now, if this were Blizzard from 4 years ago, I would agree with you. But don't forget that Blizzard has since created a multi-billion dollar subsection of the industry with World of Warcraft and is now in bed with Activision. Also, don't forget that the original members of Blizzard all left that company since, and it's really not all the same people working behind these games.
My point is, I think this "company" now sees an opportunity to milk this franchise for wha...
I also think that MGS4 is GOTY. But that is purely based on my judgement of the game as an artform.
Honestly, however, I think the GOTY title will go to one of the following titles, based on sales-based PR spin and under-the-table dealings among some of the local publishers:
- GTA4 (highest sales of the year)
- Gears of War 2 or Resistance 2 (fanboy hype)
- LBP (PR hype)
As his teammate pointed out, "Calm down. Are sponsors are watching."
Team SK is one of the biggest sponsors of professional videogamers in Korea. (for Starcraft) Way to blow your chances at a real videogaming career, huh?
I hate you for reminding me about the OLEDs.
I'm completely broke already!!!! =)
And I agree with you.
Considering the other technologies that have to catch up to support a beyond-1080p resolutions, we're not going to see the next resolution appear in the mainstream market until 2015 at the earliest. So, the next-gen systems are still going to be stuck at 1080p.
And let's be real honest here, shall we? The current-gen resolution is 720p, not 1080...
A couple of misconceptions there.
When Sony mentions the "10 year lifecycle", it doesn't mean that the next system will come out in 2016. Rather, they are saying that the console will hold valuable for 10 years after launch, and that people who buy it in 2006 will still have games to play on them in 2016.
Just look at the PS2. So far, it has had 8 and a half years in the market, and is still selling exceptionally well. THAT's what they mean by a &quo...
This is the first movie that I didn't watch at the movies solely because I was waiting for the BD release. (that's 5 months of waiting, folks...)
And I wasn't disappointed. By far my favorite BD purchase, and it's right up there with Planet Earth. (and what a great movie too!) Next in line are Wall-E and Kung-Fu Panda, both of which I also passed up so I could watch the BD version instead.
OTOH, I already watched The Dark Knight in the theaters, so I'm probab...
I don't think you guys realize that sticking with the same CPU architecture does not imply that the system specs will actually remain the same as well.
All your PCs have retained the same architecture since the early 1990s, and that same architecture is shared by both the XBoxes as well. Hell, even APPLE uses some of that architecture! But that doesn't limit the upgrading potential, does it?
Oh well... I keep forgetting that OS/Architecture is Comp. Sci territo...

"a la the hardware transition from GameCube to Wii "
Yeah that's "kinda" funny, but not fair, since the jump from GC to Wii was really minimal.
A better comparison would be XBox >> X360. Same basic architecture, but with suped-up specs. I back it, although it really means that the PS4 will only last 4 years. (but with the benefit of having tons more software much sooner, so it's a fair tradeoff)
And @ 622: "It woul...
Are insane.
You'd have to play this game for at least 30 hours to get a single gold medal. At this point, the easiest game to get a gold trophy from is Warhawk (and to a lesser extent, Uncharted).
You may want to look into the PC storefront and see if you can get it from there. But, really, just connecting your PS3 to the network would be the easiest move.
No past version of Wipeout requires you to hold down a button to pick up weapons (and neither does my copy of WOHD). I am actually confused as to why he might be having that issue.
People claim that there is not a big enough difference between DVDs and BD. Nearly all wives (of my friends) that I've met have said the same thing early on.
Now they deny ever having said that.
It's only a matter of time before we look back at these posts and laugh at people who claim that "DVDs look almost as good as BD, especially when upscaled". (note: BDs will eventually become upscaled too, once higher-def TVs come out in 2015 and later)
I feel that you generally have a fair PoV, but on this one you seem to have overlooked a certain fact: people using DD doesn't mean that BD is dead.
I rent movies from Amazon Unbox (DD) EXTENSIVELY. But those are only for movies that I dont want to buy on BD (usually crappy drama movies that aren't worth more than $5 anyway; I wouldn't buy DVDs for these movies either).
ANY movie that I want to keep, I buy Blu Ray. Any movie I want to RENT, I DD.

It appears that the video is running off of a KOREAN CLIENT. What's more is that the quest dialog (i.e. "go do this and bring that cart back to the X spot, etc") is written i Korean as well.
So, while the maps may be sharable, if there is any text within a user-created map, those will obviously not be translated, which may limit the extent to which people will be able to share their maps.
But I have to say... those damn Koreans never cease to impress m...
DVD sending BD to its grave. Damn where did you take your sarcasm classes? I need to sign up pronto.
(wait, you *were* being sarcastic, right?)
But in all seriousness, I do believe this is Amazon's effort to squeeze as much out of the consumers' pockets before the economy crashes hard in.... two weeks. And they probably also want to do this before all those 360/PS3 games hit the shelves, because once they start coming out, nobody will want to buy movies.
by both do you mean cheese AND whine?
(hehe)
What he says has a lot of valid truth to it. You see, the people who still haven't bought a PS3 all have one thing in common; they didn't like the PS3's price. They didn't like it when it was $600, they didn't like it when it was $500 and they still don't like it at $400. And although these people may have bought the PS3 at $400 for X-Mas this year, the fact that the XBox has a "virtual" pricepoint of $200 now, and the entire mainstream media is touting it as the "cheapest c...

"Get a damn job man. Just 1 month of work can buy you that PS3 you drool over at the window of Wal mart."
Well, I own two PS3s, but I still think the price is too high TO BEAT THE 360/Wii. (AND I have a decent job) Again, I think the PS3 is reasonably priced for the informed consumer (bought my first PS3 at $1,100, second at $500). But that doesn't mean that it'll kick the 360's ass this holiday. I'm being realistic here.
But going back to the main ...
