you clearly never got into a raiding guild.

wow was the most hardcore gaming experience i had in my 23 years of gaming. nothing even came close. 70-ish hrs a week, with other hardcore gamers. and once you get into a raiding guild, you run into a lot of REAL gamers, and not those that are stuck in the wild doing rep grinds. but you were clearly not good enough to get anywhere close to those truly hardcore players.

your arguments are weak, and anyone with decen...

I forgot to mention...
I actually ended up paying for the $2.49 DLC armor suit. (after trying out the Obsidian suit first and appreciating it immensely)

It was the very first paid DLC add-on I ever paid for in ANY game, but it made sense for me because over the long-term, that suit was going to save me tons of time. But I have to say, I'm a little ashamed I had to resort to that. So much for being a 1337 gamer... =(

Sorry dude, but your "opinion" is not actually an opinion.

It's called a "heresay", and is the #1 cause for misinformation on the internet.

Hmm... well, I think I did the right thing by starting off on HARD difficulty. I have to say.. this game reminds me of the first time I played RE1; in every good way.

Enough ammo? Are you crazy? Man, I'm still at the beginning of Chapter 10 (busy work schedule, <sob>), but I never once thought there was enough ammo. In fact, there are quite a few places where I re-do the whole fight because I was afraid I had wasted too much ammo to get much farther in the game.

that's funny.

I noticed this too recently.

Fighting games really don't work well online... due to the inevitable latency over inter-city connections.

So, until someone comes up with a new type of fighting game that doesn't rely on twit-action offense-vs-defense gameplay, online will have to take the backseat in fighting games.

It's really just the limitation of the genre. It has nothing to do with the developers.

The same will apply to SF4.

Dude... I dunno...
I thought for sure that MGS4 would be GoTY, but after playing R2, LBP (beta) and Dead Space (retail), I'm actually very torn.

MGS4 is still very high up there. It's a really strong contender. But the other three games I mentioned are also soooo good, and have their own unique strengths that I really don't know what would qualify as GoTY this year.

I think it'll all depend on who decides, because they are all so very good. Personally, ...

I really hope you are right.

But really, the article seems to confirm what everybody was speculating when Sony stubbornly announced that the PS3 will not drop in price; that the PS3 sales will suffer.

Sony was in denial for the last two months, but the sales really speak for itself. Yes, the economy is bad, we know that, but the PS3's high price is more at fault than the economy itself. And as for the exchange rate argument, that's just PR talk, because the fac...

But don't forget that NO PLATFORM is immune to piracy.
As soon as the platform becomes popular, and the mainstream standard, pirates will find a way to crack it. Also, don't forget that the Wii is already hacked as well.

It is only a matter of time before the PS3 is hacked as well, so for those developers, the question is not about which platform to release their games on. As always, the focus *should* be on making good games, and providing the best value proposition t...

They reason why it hasn't happened yet is because of the lack of demand for it. Yes, ironically enough, piracy also spurns from demand from the public, and the more people own PS3s and the more games they release for it, the closer we get to the day when PS3 hacks become widespread.

That said, I get this feeling that the PS3 hack will come in a similar form as the PSP hack.

1) People will create a hack firmware then put it on the internet
2) Users will ...

Yes, I have to say that's a blatent rip-off from Halo 3 (it's actually from Halo 2, I believe). But not only did they rip it off, but they also UPGRADED it with the electro-orb!! (my favorite secondary fire, btw)

Seriously though... I think the ones that really win are the gamers here. Our games are becoming more and more similar to each other (I think the Halo + WoW + CoD comparison is spot on), and as long as they keep copying the GOOD features, I really can't complain. ...

but what about those people who don't actually want all those games? honestly, I think Sony should focus less on "bundling", and more on actually presenting a lower price.

who agrees with me?

my fiance and I have played this game nonstop today. the co-op alone is worth a full pricetag (dare I say "too human"?), and the entire matchmaking system is on par with halo 3 (please note that I said MATCHMAKING, and not graphics). AND it supports split-screen on both co-op and competitive multiplayer.

i got Dead Space on Wednesday, but it's hard to play Dead Space now that I have this beta on my two PS3s. don't get me wrong, Dead Space is REALLY good, but R2 is ...

With the 100,000-ish download requests for that X-gigabyte beta... This is yet another reason why digital distribution is still a good few years away from becoming the norm. (unless you follow STEAM's idea of "pre-downloading" a game before a release date then "unlocking" the file after the official release date)

Either way, it sounds like I'll have to continue playing Dead Space tonight. Those space zombies are hella scary/cool.

BUT!

If history has taught us anything, it's that once a company begins to prioritize money over service, its service will begin to falter. (EA, Rockstar and Squaresoft being prime examples)

I bet you, SC2 will not be as successful as SC1, and in a couple of years they will be scratching their heads and claim that "people do not want to play RTSs anymore, and that's why SC2 failed".

And they'll deny that the real cause was the 1) quality...

You translation is also correct. The true translation probably lies somewhere between yours and mine.

And by "conference room"(kaijyou), they are actually referring to the Makuhari Messe event hall. So in this context, it refers to TGS in general, and not some specific room at TGS. =)

Okay, I find it really amusing that these sites are using web-based translators and using the results as news sources. Here is what the original Japanese text says:

"With regard to a XBox 360 release (of MGS4), which is being sought-after around the world, we are currently reviewing its viability as well, from a 'forward-looking' perspective" (The term "forward-looking" is a typical phrase used in Japanese business when they want to imply that they are con...

I think you missed what the other guy said. The WORKSPACE required to produce video is massively larger than the size of the final output.

A few years ago, when I was still working on video, it took 40GB of workspace to produce a 6-minute video feature for a DVD. 40GB!! Of course, the final size of the 6-min clip was only 400MB or so, but the amount of space you need to get to that point is outright crazy.

So, I'm quite certain that anybody that works in the v...

"Digital Downloads are the future"

Yes, we've been torrenting since 2003 (if not earlier), so thank you for stating the past as future.

But the funniest part in your post is where you quote CNET and use that as evidence. I assume you were referring to Don Reisinger's (repeatedly debunked) articles? 5% sharper?? What, on a 30 inch SDTV?? Try 50%.

It's really simple arithmetics. Calculating the size of a 2D plane that's defined clearly...
