Why don't they allow the full screen viewing of pictures with the in game XMB? Under the new update it loads up to 35 thumbnails in memory when opening a folder of pictures with the in game XMB, which happens to be the same number of thumbnails that get loaded into memory when in the main XMB.
I understand not allowing things like the playback of video via the in game XMB due to resource constraints, but viewing jpeg images is certainly feasible.

I hate it too when I hear people attempting to incite fear amongst the console crowd with talks of "viruses" on the PS3. To install malware it would need to be in a firwmare package. If the PS3 ever ends up getting custom firmware, it would be the user's fault for downloading and installing tainted custom firmware.
It would also be against the EULA, so if you were under warranty prior to that, Sony would not be assisting you in the repair of your console. The same rule...
Have you played it on the 360? The demo was borderline unplayable in split-screen mode.
Actually, you have to download the Facebook application and run it from the dashboard similar to how Netflix works.
lol, bubbles for Curb your Enthusiasm references.
On topic: Hopefully he makes it through this.
I'm sorry Panda, but I don't know what YOU'RE smoking. Left 4 Dead 2 looks like garbage even at 1920x1200 with 8xAA on my 5870. Crysis, Uncharted 2, and Gears of War 2 look great. Left 4 Dead 2 does not look great. As far as the actual game quality, I cannot really say. I did not find the demo to be at all impressive, but demos can be hit and miss compared to the full game.
A Left 4 Dead 2 sequel was not needed after only 1 year, but if people buy the game and enjoy it, that's their business. I'll just wait for Episode 3 releases sometime in 2010. Also, the people developing Left 4 Dead 2 for the last year could have been put on other teams to speed up the development of Episode 3, or other titles in the works.
I've had both my 360 and PS3 break, and neither was due to mistreating the hardware. My PS3's Blu-ray drive was fixed under warranty, as was the RROD with my 360. Before you try and claim dust, I run a HEPA air filtration system in my entertainment room 24/7 so dust is basically non-existent. I've been building and modifying computers for years, and I've got consoles and computers that are much older than the PS3 or 360 that still work.
With that said, I know a lot more people w...
The only used games I ever buy are out of production titles, and I buy those on Ebay usually. Every game I own for the PS3, 360, and Wii was purchased brand new. I do not like the idea of Gamestop re-selling the same game over and over, taking away money from the developers who actually put their hard work into making the game. I'm not saying Gamestop shouldn't be allowed to sell used games, but I personally dislike used games as they hurt developers.
Sony and Microsoft are goin...
Starcraft is also on the N64 despite it not being nearly as good as the PC version.
Before the PC version was canceled, Remedy once said that they have no intentions of supporting DirectX 10. If the game does end up coming to the PC a year later though, it won't be much of a surprise if they end up supporting DirectX 11. It seems a lot of developers are at least trying to tack on some DirectX 11 features to their DirectX 9 games. Plus, it's being published by Microsoft, and if it comes to the PC you'd think they would want it as a DirectX 11 showcase title.
I don't think the PC boycott has worked all that well. I mean, I'm sure there are some people who would have purchased the title that decided against it due to the lack of dedicated servers, but at the moment Modern Warfare 2 is #1 on Steam's Top Sellers list.
I had no interest in Modern Warfare 2 before the details about the gimped PC version surfaced, and I've never understood what makes the series great. The hype it receives from the console crowd is a turn off for me as well....
Do you have any evidence to back up what you're claiming? Neither Sony or Microsoft for that matter would ever release an update that attempts to push the hardware beyond it's original specs, as it would guarantee some consoles would break. It's just a coincidence that your Blu-ray drive broke when firmware 3.0 came out.
My PS3's Blu-ray drive died back in August 2008 when playing MGS4, so should I be blaming MGS4 for breaking my drive? You should be blaming Sony for the broken ...
Apparently.
I didn't want even want this Left 4 Dead title. I would rather have had Episode 3 this November, but apparently they felt that a Left 4 Dead sequel after only 12 months was more important.
They really should use Steamworks for this game. I believe EA and Valve are on pretty good terms seeing as EA distributes their physical games, so I can't see why they wouldn't be interested in supporting Steam with this title. That would definitely make Bad Company 2 more attractive to me as a PC gamer.

I'm sorry, but the TV excuse is pure BS. I've played Killzone 2 on numerous displays ranging from a 2ms LCD panel to a 600Hz Panasonic Plasma. The input lag is likely due to the use of triple buffering in combination with their complex deferred rendering path and post process effects.
The fact that it is not experienced in other games like Uncharted 2, Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Infamous, etc would suggest Killzone 2 is the issue. Now with all of that said, Kil...
Sure Killzone 2's deferred rendering path was fairly impressive, but the game still featured pretty many dynamic lights that did not cast shadows due to performance hit that would come with it. Not only that, but shadows were often very low quality in Killzone 2.
When talking about environment and character geometry, Uncharted 2 beats Killzone 2 so badly it's not even funny. Killzone 2 also had more performance issues than Uncharted 2 did, and it had loading pauses mid-level, and...
Killzone 2 was a solid game, but some improvements could definitely be made. I'm also curious to see sort of graphical improvement there will be. I wouldn't expect a HUGE jump, but I wonder if it'll surpass Uncharted 2(or Heavy Rain or whatever else is out at its release) as the PS3's best looking game.
A subscription based rental service would be great as long as they stick to the current download model. I've used Netflix on my 360 before, and the image quality changes drastically depending on network conditions.
I'd much rather be able to download the entire movie to the hard drive and watch it from there. I'm sure with a slight tweak of their DRM, they could make an unlimited rental service feasible without any major changes to the way movies are distributed on PSN.
