It's a shame that this is happening, but frankly I'm surprised the PS3 went this long without any firmware cracks. Hopefully the platform is strong enough to go unaffected by this as the 360 has for the most part.
In second and third world countries, without a doubt.
Microsoft really ought to give up on Games for Windows Live, as Steam has beaten it in every way imaginable.
The water effects look fantastic!
lol I purchased all 3 games, but Assassin's creed was just a text document so I emailed them demanding a refund.
I bought it like 20 mins ago and it seems to be downloading fine.
Oh come on, the PS2's launch was not NEARLY as bad as the PS3 launch.
Also, at the time they were only competing with SEGA, who was on the verge of bankruptcy before the PS2 even hit the market.
It's actually pretty impressive how Sony has recovered. I'm pretty sure even the most hardcore Sony fans are willing to admit that Sony REALLY messed up the PS3's launch. They faced some serious competition from Microsoft, and the fact that they've made it this far is a testament to the company's will.
Had the RROD never happened, Sony would likely be in a much worse position than they are today. Microsoft's hardware slip up was just big enough to kee...
Probably, but id software won't be licensing it to 3rd party studios.
I was invited to a launch party by Nvidia as I am a club SLI member, but I do not live in Chicago.
Metacritic doesn't actually review games at all. They simply average the review scores of publications/websites like Gameinformer, Gamepro, IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, etc. together into a single number known as a metascore.
Uncharted 2 actually has a 96 on metacritic, where as Infamous has an 85. Crackdown 1 on the other hand actually had an 83, but whatever. Honestly minor differences in scores like that on metacritic do not really matter. I mean, I personally think Mass Effect 1 is a better game than Mass Effect 2, despite it's lower score.
I'm not saying that a digital versions will be the only ones available, but that gamers will have the option to buy their games online or at retail.
Platforms like Steam are growing, and quickly replacing retail purchases. I wouldn't be surprised if next gen, every game for the PS4 / Xbox 720 is available for purchase on PSN/Xbox Live.
No it couldn't.
What game in 1999 looked as good as Half-Life 2? Also, if you games on the PC, you'd already have access to Valve's newest version of Source, as it's used in Alien Swarm. Lost of dynamic lights with some pretty high quality shadows.
No amount of programming wizardry would be able to shoehorn the PC version unaltered onto the PS3 or 360. Could the console versions be better? Probably, but a lot of the difference comes from the fact that both systems only have 512MB of RAM, and both GPUs are 5 years old now.
But grass is pretty much all it does. There are no character models, and environment geometry for the most part is pretty simple. Don't get me wrong, Flower is a damn impressive game, but you'll never see a real game on the PS3 rendering grass on that level, because it takes too much away from everything else.
Actually, before the patch it was running in 1280x1080 when in 1080p mode and 1280x720 with 2xAA in 720p mode.
Or a 500GB for $60.
