@MikeMyers: The only discrepency with what you said is that it is Microsoft who pushed for same day release. If a game was released first on the ps3, the developer had to add content to the 360 version.

And I did not click like or dislike.

I write this knowing I'll sound like a homer, but one point of contention with what was written in the article.

The writer states that 3 CoD titles consistently in the top 5 while Bf3 isn't even in the top 20.

You know what would be cooler? If the entire IRS came running after you for tax evasion.

The average parent who does not game does not know the difference between consoles. One time while browsing the electronics section at Sears during the ps2's heyday. I saw a parent buy a ps1 and a copy of Gran Turismo 3 for the ps2. The sales person told the mom they weren't compatible and that she would need to buy a ps2. She saw the price tag and promptly put everything back.

So, yes, price matters.

The article is a good read. Judging by all the half finished material that is in SotC, it seems Ueda was forced to cut A LOT out. I don't know if someone was providing oversight for this game and not the Last Guardian or Ueda just would not compromise. Hopefully Team Ico gets it together and releases LG for the ps4.

The way I see it, in Gran Theft Auto games, you get so much cash that it really doesn't matter. Buy all the guns, ammo, cars, houses, etc. and you'll still have a ton of money left over.

I think what they're trying to do is make it so what you buy matters because it'll seriously deplete your cash reserves.

Makes sense. Sledgehammer helped a depleted Infinity Ward complete MW3. Now that IW is restocked with talent, they can work on Ghosts alone and Sledgehammer can work on...whatever it is they're working on.

Oh, it's rumored to be a mobile game or a new IP.

DNF was released as close to what 3D Realms had on purpose. Yes, the game had outdated graphics, gameplay and humor, but Pitchford stated he wanted to leave the game as is as a homage to his friends who worked on the game. Now that DNF is done and released, Gearbox is free to do a reboot with the license. Now any future Duke game that sucks is on them.

But, Gearbox is a very uneven game developer. Either the games are great or turds.

The one hurdle that all these companies have to overcome is convincing their userbase to spend $500 - $600 on a new system and games. For the cash strapped parent or adult, this can be a bit much to ask while there are still great games coming and a vast library available for current gen systems.

Now there are loyalists and the hardcore who will buy it day one, but for each system to gain momentum, they need the mass market to make the switch.

Before people come running to crap on Joystiq, 3.5 is a good score and Ludwig gave a fair review.

No. Awesome epicness.

In all seriousness, after the reveal, you can expect there to be 3 major camps.

Camp 1 (Pro X-box): Ha! Told you so, Sony Defense Force Suckers!

Camp 2: (Pro Sony): Yawn. All they did was copy what is in the ps4.

Camp 3: Are those games coming to the Wii U anytime soon?

Yes, actual gameplay of a game not completed (at that time). They can go to court and say, "We had this build that we showed to the public, but we just couldn't get it to work so we had to change it."

Once again, not my opinion on the matter (I think it sucks that an Alien game, for lack of a better word, sucks), just playing DA.

Each trap is a box with Admiral Ackbar in it. If an enemy gets too close, he jumps out and yells, "It's a trap!"

Playing Devil's Advocate, Gearbox's ace in the hole defense might be that little disclaimer we see when playing a demo: "This demo is a work in progress. The final product may be different from this demo."

@Jek_Porkins: Pitchford stated that he wanted to keep the game as faithful as he could to it's original vision to honor his friends at 3D Realms. Now that Gearbox owns the license, any reboot/sequel that sucks is on them.

But, they are an uneven game developer. They don't seem to have a middle ground. Either the game is great or crap.

To be fair, we haven't seen footage of Ghosts yet. And, no, that teaser and the tech demo don't count.
