Sony is forecasting losing money in 2020. This means they would be putting what's known as a "Loss Leader" on the market.

The only Loss Leader I can think of is PS5. If you don't know how Loss Leaders work, they're losing money on the console sales only to regain them later with subscription and games sales. This is what Sony always does with their consoles so they can give us a more powerful console at a cheaper price.

If they...

I'm not saying it's coming, but from a logical perspective 2019 is perfect in every possible way.

Waiting until 2020-2021 will NOT give us a more powerful console for a cheaper price. We're staying on the 7nm node in 2019 and 2020, possibly 2021 as well. This means waiting JUST makes the console more outdated.

There's also the fact that average gamers have no idea what the PS4-Pro is. They're waiting on PS5.

Sony ...

2019 is perfect because 2020/2021 we're not getting better parts for a cheaper price. We're staying on 7nm processors.

Every year we wait until like 2022 when we get 4nm is just making the console more outdated. It makes no sense to wait and it's hard to believe Sony would want to wait until then.

The 7nm alone should be a big boost. Hopefully some of the stuff they learned with Ryzen they can apply to Navi.

The difference is the games would be interchangeable between consoles. Pop the disc in a PS4 and it runs on low settings and PS5 on high settings.

The difference is a remaster requires reworking a ton more code and means you have to buy it twice whereas backwards compatibility (with better graphics) requires only one purchase and doesn't require recoding the entire game.

Right. Most people are waiting on PS5 and have no idea what a Pro even is.

2603d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Don't forget, PS1 was launched a year earlier in Japan. Split the difference and say 5.5 years.

And people expect an 8+ year generation? It's insane.

PS1 was doing well, was that a reason not to release PS2?
PS2 was doing well, was that a reason not to release PS3?
PS3 was doing well, was that a reason not to release PS4?
PS4 is doing well, so we will never see PS5 apparently.

Also, Sony never said "no hardware revision for 3 years."

They did say that 7-year generations were too long though.

Sony has patents to run older games with backwards compatibility with better graphics on newer consoles.

This means PS4's library could play and look much better on PS5(while obviously not every PS5 title would play on PS4).

I can't see a reason why they wouldn't want to do this with their swansong games they've invested so much into.

TLOU II, Death Stranding, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Ghost of Tsushima are going to ...

How in the hell do I have disagrees on objective information?

Sony loves loss leaders so they can give us a better product for a cheaper price.

They ARE projecting losses in 2020.

What's the deal? This is Sony's own information.

This is logical. The tech for the next few years is coming out right now. If we wait, we're just making the console more outdated, not getting more power for a cheaper price.

Also, if they launch soon they can make their swansong games cross-gen, giving us the greatest console launch in gaming history. TLOU II, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Final Fantasy VII Remake, etc, upgraded for PS5.

Sony just got patents for playing games with backwards...

They're losing money in 2020. The idea is that Sony takes a loss on consoles which contributes to their financial dip and they make a profit later as time goes on via subscription sales and games sales. It's called a "Loss Leader" and it's easy to see them wanting PS5 to be one- they've done it with all of their consoles except for PS4. They took such great losses with PS3 it took a long time for them to recoup their money, that with PS4 they wanted to play it saf...

IKR. I actually like those games but I've heard them brought up so much I feel like there's no point in playing it anymore. MS had no business releasing more than 2 Gears last gen and 2 Halo(aside from the RTS games). Instead we got like 10+ and they wonder why nobody wants to play them anymore.

The point is almost nobody gives The Witcher high praise for combat. Good god. Thinking it's going to be nearly as well renowned for battle mechanics as KHIII is just not good logic. It's not happening.

2607d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Shallow combat? The only game with remotely shallow combat here is The Witcher lmao.

The problem here is you're in denial despite all of these games receiving high praise, and yes, for their battle systems. The fact you even think The Witcher and KH3 are comparable from a combat perspective is just laughable and honestly, it's getting old. I think you're just being a contrarian to be an edgy badass here when pretty much the rest of the internet disagrees with...

W/e pietro you believe what you want to believe. Have fun, The CDProjectRed gameplay is flat. Ignore the fact they come out with one game with crap gameplay every 5-6 years and S-E comes out with tons and made one mistake and took steps to correct it and we already see immense progress. Do you, bud.

2608d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

W/e pietro CDProjektRed is the most overhyped ARPG studio in gaming. You know their battle systems are junk and have far less options objectively, much less the smoothness and control S-E has and couldn't match KH2 much less being lightyears behind 2.8/3.

And S-E not being a good studio anymore? Why, because they messed up on one game on a crappy engine? It shouldn't take much critical thinking to realize everything about FFXV sucked because of the engine. You&...

Seriously?

KH3 took 5 years and is shorter, has way fewer playable characters, way less magic options due to materia, less enemies, less areas, less side games/systems, etc and you expect FFVIIR to be released as one title and be finished in less time?

I think you should probably stop comparing this to the 1997 game because this isn't 1997 anymore with midi tracks, blocky characters, 3 characters standing in a row, and prerendered backgrounds. It'...
