Are limited*
Super is my point of reference since, and you seem to agree, handheld entries Fusion and 2 aren't limited by the platforms they're designed for and almost like a different genre of game (more linear and story driven). Almost all the enemies can be trivialized or one-shotted with the parry move. Furthermore, everything is vulnerable to screw attack which comes early and is OP compared to Super; Screw attack is completely optional and the last ability you get in that game. There an enti...
After seeing all the ways in which speed runners have broken this game in such a short time, I realized that Dread was basically designed for them. It's designed to help you traverse it as quickly as possible and doesn't do a lot for old fans of the franchise or those who enjoyed the process of getting lost and exploring every nook and cranny of the map, and the souls-like feeling of accomplishment when you figured where to go / what to do. The environment music, and enemy design isn&...
Hmm I'm getting a Star Wars vibe at the end. I love FROM but they need to stop dicking around and just bring Shunsuke Kida back.
Yeah basically clickbait. What I appreciate about the new death mechanic is that runes are presumably a physical currency, which actually makes sense for once. Might be wrong about that though.
I think the biggest innovation is creating a world in which all the systems they've developed for their various IPs can exist in harmony. E.g. chalice dungeons are integrated into the open world and provide additional boss and item content within the main story path. What has me most excited is that this game looks to feature more of their unique and oddball design elements I love so much. Like the open world paradigm allowed their imaginations to run wild. I think it will be the most ins...
Agree with @YoungKingDoran, but I don't think creating new animations, sounds etc. for the sake of newness or being different is necessarily commendable. It probably adds development time and costs more than the value it provides in this situation. FROM is being resourceful in its reuse of assets, and I'm sure it's part of the reason they're working with Bandai Namco again. For me, it's basically a non-issue as long as they're doing more to innovate in other areas than...
I think BB fans are more passionate about BB than souls fans are about souls TBH, so you lost me there. Also, I think there is significant portion of the community that prefers DS2 to DS3; A minority sure, but it's definitely a thing. I think it's maybe a perspective that fans who have admired and followed the series really closely from the beginning are more likely to espouse. Bloodborne and Demon's Souls had the best atmosphere by far IMO. I actually think Demon's Souls (200...
Those blood effects and some of the moves you see in the demo are really over the top and OP. They give the impression of an unrealistic and exaggerated action game when good Soulslikes are more about realism with melee combat. The overused doll/puppet motif is straight up kitsch in my book. The combination of those two things with the alternative/dark fairytale premise makes me think this game is going to be corny AF, but you know different strokes.
I'm looking at ER as the true sequel to Dark Souls. DS2 was originally intended to be big Dark Souls, but it was overambitious and mismanaged so FROM execs decided only Miyazaki could direct the 3rd contracted game. To me, DS3 is the most disappointing game in the series. It's straightforward, unsurprising and the smallest of the Dark Souls games. I get the impression Miyazaki had no interest in DS sequels, and that DS3 was just something he wanted to get over with. The good / best as...
Watched a couple previews this AM, and after Iron Pineapple I'm thinking ER is going to be the best souls yet and very possibly GOTG. Looks like the open world is absolutely brimming with top notch FROM design. Officially hyped
OK, we got it the first time.... and the second... and the third.... You can stop trolling all the ER stories now
@darthv72 Try at what exactly? I'm not a PS fanboy, they just burned any trust I had with the xbox brand. And actually, we're both wrong. The one year warranty was extended to 3 years from original purchase date. So they gave you 2 years. Mine RROD'd just outside the extended warranty. I've never had a console brick that early. They should have extended the warranty through the generation with a blunder like that.
I mean it's basically a bloodborne clone, and some people may not like it for that fact alone. Anyways, aren't you digging for a fight by insinuating that disagrees are disingenuous?
Looks surprisingly decent, terrible premise though and if the blood effects and possessed doll tropes are any indication its going to be really campy.
I had my 360 RROD just outside of the 1 year extended warranty, and Microsoft wouldn't fix it. Total bullshit. I never had a console brick during it's expected life time. That's when I switched from being an Xbox gamer to a PS gamer.
Bye Felicia
You seriously haven't heard of soulslikes??? FROM is ripping off their own game by making games that fit into a genre it pioneered? That's just silly
If you didn’t notice boss design is heavily hollow knight influenced. The spear wielding torizos are basically mantis lords and hornet. They reuse those bosses way too much imo. I think you need to replay the game because it very much guides you to the portals and to end game. You do have to pay attention to environmental cues and map markers cause it’s pretty much designed so that the most recently acquired ability is the key to the next area/goal. I think the maze like quality of the map is...
