@ApocalypseShadowPart of my response is just hyperbole to contrast the hyperbole about how great Bluepoint is and how badly everyone wants them to make DS2 as evidenced by multiple comments here. I already said DS Remake was great. I am not doubting they can make a good game, I just hope Sony and Bluepoint are not listening to the hordes of idiotic gamers in these kinds of threads. Sony showed bad judgment when the messed up the publishing deal for Demon's Souls, and made up for it by com...
@ApocalypseShadow Give me a break, you're wasting your own damn time. A lot of people are speculating that they're working on BB2 or DS2 and I'm just entertaining that theory. What are you doing? Seems like being rude for the sake of being rude.
@Rachel_Alucard I totally agree with you and don't get the universal love and support for Bluepoint at all. I think it's Sony groupthink, and critics or anyone who shows the slightest bit of skepticism is getting crucified. There were various problems with Demon's Souls remake beyond the visual that I think Bluepoint got wrong. The music and sound effects/design was a big one for me, and some of the more atmospheric elements and story events were even entirely missing. It was a gr...
That's not anyone's point. My point was the entrusting Bluepoint to, for example, make an exclusive sequel to Demon's Souls because they remade Demon's Souls could be a really bad plan and one that average gamers are getting behind because they don't really understand what or who it takes to pull that kind of thing off. Again, you don't ask a really good cover band to make the next album from your favorite artist. If Sony greenlights that, it looks kind of desperate. T...
@Hatchetforce And this is how I know people are just not paying attention, saying the popular thing and downvoting the unpopular because it's cool. All you have to do is look at my comment history to see that I am NOT a Microsoft fanboy. Again, Sony and gaming are in new territory and at a precipice with the exclusive /acquisition battles and gamepass and I just don't think Sony is above all that or trust them not to greenlight a BB2 or DS2 that isn't developed by FromSoft rn simp...
@sinspirit Understood. I'm just not ruling out the posibilitiy of some desperate or overambitious moves on Sony's part right now; The acquisition and exclusive battle is in full effect. Especially considering that many PS owners consider playstation to be a FromSoft exclusive machine and FromSoft being tied up and/or uninterested. I can see a bluepoint attempt at BB2 or DS2 going really wrong. Sony has shown bad judgement relating to souls games in the past.
@ApocalypseShadow I'm not hating on bluepoint, it just seems like Sony likes to nurture relationships with studios and then acquires to work on content they have proven they're good with so this does seem odd in that sense. That's all I'm saying, and no I didn't write the article. I hope bluepoint can make good original content, Sony needs this to be a win. As far as bluepoint making bloodborne 2 or demons 2, no way in hell. That's a recipe for failure and drama unless...
@sinspirit "They could honestly make a whole new Demons Souls title and probably do it as close to FromSoftware style as anyone could" And there isn't anyone who can make games like FromSoftware except FromSoftware. I would say a more useful statement is that Bluepoint can remake games as well as many other talented studios if they were relegated to that task. See what I'm saying? There are a lot of developers out there working on original content and new IP that are perfect...
@everyone I’m just saying doesn’t seem like a Sony move, because they haven’t done anything original for Sony. Only original thing they’ve done is a multiplat arcade shooter. I guess Sony may have some future remakes planned though.
I just can’t believe they’re taking a chance on letting them develop new IP, original content or whatever.
@JackBNimble Don't get me wrong. I'm excited to play Starfield, I just don't think this kind of focus makes games better. I'd take an interesting plot line, memorable NPCs, and great combat over dialog any day. Less is often more, and I'm more interested to hear about the other aspects of this game.
Yeah this is what I was thinking. Starfield Will Have 150,000 lines of dialog..... and still manage to be boring.
Nothing to disagree with. Dark Souls was essentially a sequel to Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls wouldn't have become popular without it. We're just getting these articles because it's a 10 year anniversary.
I'm thinking something along the lines of Sekiro, which is a very limited in terms of combat choices. A skill tree, secondary weapons/ accessories, maybe some verticality due to wolverine being able to claw into shit and survive any fall. Actually both Sekiro and Wolverine are immortal so there be some overarching similarities, even if they play a lot different.
I think only time will tell. Developers, gamers and Microsoft are all in a honeymoon phase with gamepass. It's all feels very promotional and shortsighted right now.
Yeah Microsoft got it in their head that Xbox needs to be more than just a game console to be viable competition for Sony and Nintendo. I would hope that it and its followers learned a lesson with Xbox One but apparently not. It ends up a jack of all trades master of none situation. It can do A, B, C, D but it doesn't matter if its core function isn't compelling in ways the competition's is. That's where it needs to focus. This reminds me of xcloud on mobile devices. You reall...
To me the difference between Microsoft and Sony acquisitions is Microsoft mostly bought platform agnostic and well-established studios in a blatant effort to hurt Sony. They weren’t uniquely involved in the success of these studios and don’t deserve credit for having $$$ to outspend the competition.
Congratulations on the 1000000th post conflating accessibility with difficulty.
I see your point but can't say I agree. Everyone is calling it the 'BOTW of Dark Souls'. It reads like clickbait and serves to set expectations for something Elden Ring most likely isn't.
Sigh. No gameplay demo or new information really. On the bright side, release is only a few months away. Guessing we'll get a new trailer at TGA or maybe something directly from FROM in between now and then.
