Seriously why leave Elden Ring out? It would have been at the Namco show if not for Keighley. Do downvoters have brains?
Yeah I think it's unfortunate that we are in a new gen and that Demon's Souls Remake sort of set the bar for what a current Souls game should look like, but then again that's a totally different studio. ER was always slated as a last/cross-gen game and it looks about that; Probably the best looking of any of the last gen FROM games. It's not really reasonable to expect more. PC and next gen updates might look a little better, IDK but FROM has never been a graphical powerhouse ...
Breaking down the math is kind of pointless for Sony fans. Most of the big budget titles they want to play will never be on gamepass.
I could see some of the talent at Bethesda eventually leaving and starting their own studios because of this. It's a good thing for Microsoft but it sucks for Bethesdas games to be reaching a smaller audience. The other possibility is that these games end up going multi-plat, which is very likely IMO.
I mean it's more e3 than not. Not including SGF is the joke then.
No Elden Ring? What a joke
What comes in the special edition? Personally I dont feel like there's a good excuse to pay more than $60 for this game.
I hope it's not too real. Space travel is pretty boring by our current definition of reality tbh. Multiple galaxies, alien races, supernatural elements please.
Bluepoint are not mature, they do remakes. have much to prove in the way of original IP. Why do people keep acting like this is a thing!?
@soldierone totally agree
....Ratchet and Clank was never on Xbox so not a great example. It's a different thing entirely to go from selling 30 million copies on all platforms to selling 15 million copies on one (the situation is potentially worse if it's more gamepass royalties and not units sold). How does a developer thrive and continue making the same quality in that scenario? Microsoft has been branching out with bringing games it's published to other consoles in the last couple of years, showing the...
@TheRealTedCruz, yeah but you're talking about Microsoft. The developer doesn't necessarily benefit from all that, and if the games they create are reaching a smaller audience that's incentive enough for it to split up and then quality will suffer.
@TheRealTedCruz no they paid 7.5B to gain an edge in the console gaming market. They do some other nonsense every console cycle and have a pretty bad track record of committing to it. To digress this feels a bit different though, gamepass day 1 releases just feels unintuitive and like a bad idea, and I'm concerned that its using money and influence to set a bad precedent that the industry might have to follow and that might backfire for them. Anyways, they're going to want max return ...
I'm honestly not convinced it won't be a timed exclusive. How many platforms did Skyrim make it to? We all know Microsoft is about $$$$$. The exclusive announcement is mostly likely a hype move.
Elden Ring already did
Anybody think the trailer looked amazing except for the ships exterior which looked like shit?
Final Fantasy Souls-like developed by Team Ninja is less compelling than it sounded in the leaks.
Elden Ring was always slated to be a Dark Souls spiritual successor. Miyazaki said that in several ways. The graphics are held back by last gen, but there will be next gen upgrades and honestly FROM trailers are never very impressive in terms of graphics. The game will look better in motion, and honestly looks pretty f'in good in screenshots and gifs. The art direction is unmatched.
@medman I'm literally just offering an alternative opinion.
Trying to ignore Other M, have you seen fusion, zero mission, or Samus Returns? The visual style is a natural evolution of these and considering switch is the default nintendo platform it makes sense to give it some hd polish. I get what you're saying but your expectations seem more like fantasies to me. BTW, Metroid Prime is still happening. Chill
