But it will probably sell a million easy
Oh so the Gears, Halo and Forza sequels are just serendipitous?
@porkChop Not to mention RROD. People don't talk about it much anymore but it was a pretty big deal. My console fell just outside the extended warranty when it RRODed and I tried to fix it myself but only lasted a few weeks. Instead of buying another 360, I bought PS3 and I've been a playstation gamer ever since. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of other people as well.
I knew you would see this and respond ; ) I just remembered your trolling / bold prediction and insistence that Sony was going to deliver soon. The last sentence is pretty much my sentiment, except I would add that anonymous trolling and reckless regurgitation of loud opinions / fanboyisms is sadder. I'm just trying to have an ongoing discourse which is a difficult feat on n4g. I consider myself a Sony guy more than anything so I doubt we have much to feud over honestly.
@Ron_Danger Where's that playstation experience you said was happening on the 8th? Death Loop? I can barely contain my excitement. JK, I'm interested to see what the 3rd party stuff is. Would love to see more of Forspoken, and Hope Death Stranding DC gets an announcement.
I wish
I'm replaying it on PS5. Now that's it had time to stew it's honestly pretty bad and dated. The RPG elements are lame. There are 5 or so same-y weapons with a terrible upgrade system, accessories/armor is basically jewelry with lame stat bonuses and slots for Materia this truly tedious to deal with. The practically on-rails linearity, slow-walking, wall-creeping, and static environments with immovable and non-interactive objects are infuriating. Don't get me started on the que...
@Decadentboso Furi is top down, not 3rd person, and low budget / production value. IDK WTF you're talking about
@SizzlingHot85 Have you actually played Returnal? The blend of high-budget 3rd person and bullet hell arcade shooter is something that doesn't really exist. I'm not sure any other studio can pull that off, but there's certainly nothing like it on Xbox. Story and atmosphere are top notch too. The difficulty argument is tired, it's part of the game design and can be said about a lot of difficult games. The gameplay loop matters and is where a lot of the work went. If you just do...
Silent Hill is dead, it needed a Kojima and Del Toro level reboot. I'm more excited for the Bokeh studios game at this point.
Housemarque is unique, the acquisition makes perfect sense. Can't wait to see what they do next.
@NeoGamer232 Yeah I'm not trying to debate the merits of gamepass. Just saying it doesn't really make sense to hold Sony to the same standard when their strategies are so different.
@NeoGamer232 I think it's a bit of both. Microsoft has a new model, and the smart delivery options are no doubt factored into the cost of development, sure. It's a well known fact that consoles are sold at a loss, at the beginning of a new generation anyways, and I think it's fair to assume that this idea extends to the new services Microsoft is offering. Sony isn't just charging more because they can, it is more likely because there is an actual cost associated with post-deve...
IMO it's not much different than the last console cycle which had remastered versions of games like TLoU, Dark Souls II, etc. It's actually better this gen with some upgrades being completely free or less than a proper remastered release. I think Microsoft is setting a new precedent, eating costs to gain a market advantage and gamepass subscriptions w/ things like smart delivery and gamers are now feeling entitled to free shit more than anything.
@rlow1 I don't think that PS3 and Xbox One are really comparable, e.g. gamers actually want backwards compatibility but not at that price point so the standard is emulation rather than hardware-based BC now. Xbox one was pushing shit that the majority of gamers don't need and didn't ask for and they basically scratched the whole idea it was going for. My point is that they're spinning it into some underdog moment, when it was really just them being fucking clueless and arrogan...
I think we need to see a good original IP from them before Sony considers acquisition.
Forget to mention capriciousness.
That's literally just doing business (i.e. you have to pivot to stay in business after a failed product launch) and not some inspirational moment. The established pattern is over-ambitiousness over-promising and under-delivering. I wish Microsoft would just STFU and have Xbox speak for itself. It takes time to build actual trust for a brand and too many gamers buy into the expenditures, smooth talk and hype.
Nice way to spin a complete failure. I don't get how that launch represents who they are and what they want to achieve. It aimed to replace all devices in a living room entertainment system, integrate an unsuccessful motion-sensing technology with that system, and force you to stay connected to the internet, At the time it showed how out of touch Microsoft is with the industry and consumer.
What's really interesting me is that this is in stark contrast to Microsoft's mobile strategy. It will be 5-10 years before the infrastructure for xcloud to be really viable is in place. But do people really want to play AAA console and PC games on their phone, and can the performance and multitasking of smartphone gaming really outcompete a dedicated device? Valve doesn't seem to think so. It'd be really funny if these kinds of devices become more popular than xcloud.
