If you're a fan of Dark Souls, this is a non-issue. Actually, frequent formulaic releases are one of the perks, or was until now.
We don't really know what 'this' is though. Miyazaki said 'open world' depends on your definition of the term. From what we know of FROM's design philosophy and it's attention to detail, expecting anything like BOTW or Skyrim is a mistake. I'm expecting something on the scale of older Zelda titles personally, and they're perfectly capable of pulling that off.
This practice isn't anything new though. Elden Ring isn't being marketed anything like Cyberpunk was. You just got duped.
Who cares? Elder Scrolls is so dated and boring. Put it out to pasture
How could they miss Demon's Souls (2009)?
Only a novice would think that DS3 > DS2. And Demon's > both just FYI.
Sekiro and Fallen Order beg to differ.
Hmmm flight simulator (freeby since it's coming out in two weeks) and the medium VS. Demon's Souls Returnal Miles Morales Ratchet & Clank FF7R Intergrade..... You know, I think you might be onto something.
FROM addressing accessibility / difficulty concerns on their own terms. Well played.
@343_Guilty_Spark Arrogance is not the same as accessibility, wtf are you talking about with that controller comment? Affordable game pass subscription? Wut?
Returnal is a must, don't listen to the haters. Ditto for Demon's Souls if you didn't play the original (guessing not). FF7R got a nice next gen update and PS5 exclusive DLC if you're into that sort of thing. Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding are getting next gen updates of their own soon. R&C and Spiderman are at the bottom of my list because I haven't played them/not my thing but got stellar reviews. TL;DR Basically anything really!
It's weird because I was originally a Nintendo fan who migrated to Xbox, and ended up a playstation fan after my 360 RROD'd. I wanted Microsoft to succeed, and still do to an extent but I can't reconcile with the arrogance, shallow promises, and lack of commitment to diversity, quality, ideas and customers. At this point I don't see them as underdogs at all more like entitled and too big to fail.
Almost felt more like an extension of Super Metroid than a remake honestly.
Put a smile on my face
I see it more as setting an example for the industry, and a possible selling point for new applicants that they promote a culture that condemns sexual harassment. That's not the same as observing laws about sexual harassment.
Oh shit. Fully expecting Horizon FW to be delayed at this point.
@DOMination, after the launch window of a game is closed, reviews and word of mouth are nn important factor is continued sales. Many of the forums I visit have people expressing their reluctance to purchase the game until it gets a save feature, so I think you're wrong. And I'm willing to bet 560,000 is pretty good for a somewhat niche new IP released early in a console launch window. If Sony says its a mega hit for them, who am I to argue?
/s? R&C has only sold 1.1m, and it's a much bigger franchise. 560,00 is actually pretty good for a new IP w/ difficult gameplay / no save feature, and most importantly released inside a launch window when the majority of gamers can't even find a console.
A few things to consider. It's limited by the fact that it's a PS5 exclusive, and not nearly as many PS5 are out in the wild. As a frame of reference, compare to R&C which has only sold 1.1m so far. A lot of people are deterred by the fact that there's no save feature, and will not purchase unless it gets an update. It also probably did not cost what MM or R&C cost to develop, and might not be held to the same standards / expectations by Sony. A game doesn't always nee...
BOTW in what sense? Bigger than Skyrim? No way. Disposable weapons? Not a chance. Bland story and combat? lol. Miyazaki said the meaning of 'open world' is open to interpretation. Knowing what we know about FROM, why someone would choose BOTW as a point of reference is lost on me.
