Its an action game, so of course it will play just like the others, and theres nothing wrong with that. God of War 3 will probably play just like the others in the series also, and I'm looking forward to it. Theres really only so much you can do with these action games without screwing up the central formula that makes them great in the first place.
Also theres NO WAY IN HELL Bioshock can be beaten in 7 hours. If you even think that, then its obvious you've never played through...
I own both, and am "honest with myself". Gears still looks better overall, but does not "smoke" uncharted in visuals.

I find mass effect to be a lot like the second matrix movie. People who don't like it have just bought into the hype too much. If you just sit down and take it all in without thinking about the massive amount of hype it got, its a really great experience. Just don't expect it to be the greatest thing ever and you'll have fun with it.
1.3 is dead right. I don't care if a game is photo realistic and runs at 120fps. If its got ai from the 32 bit era and the gameplay consists of repeating the same mundane handful of tasks over and over again its crap.

The number of racist, sexist, immature a-holes i've encountered on live far exceeds the number I've played with online on pc games. And i've been playing online on pc for way longer than I've had a live account. I don't really use psn that much so I can't speak for the ps3 community, but I've played tons of unreal, quake, counterstrike and doom online on pc and the communities in those game...

Actually the same thing happened to me at gamestop and it turned out it wasn't a new game. I bought a copy of half life 2 there and they pulled the same crap on me, taking the display box and putting in a shrink wrapped copy of the game saying it was new.

Probably for the same reason halo 3 has auto aim, and cross platform fps gaming between console users and pc users would be a joke. Because m&k offers far better precision aiming at higher speeds.
You can't even count vf5 as a new game either, since it was a sequel and built on an already a well established franchise. Bottom line is sega has sucked since the death of the dreamcast. They can't even get games right. Expecting them to compete in the console market is a joke.
Both systems have their upsides. I love the blu ray player obviously, and the browser great, but the ability to stream all of my music/movies right from my pc onto my 360 seamlessly has been great also. Overall I'd have to go with my ps3 as the better media hub, but its not like the 360 sucks.
I forget who the sega president was at the time, but I remember he promised shenmue 2 as a "final gift" to all the loyal dreamcast owners who stuck with the company after the ps2 release. When he announced just a few weeks later that it would be an xbox exclusive and wouldn't be on the dreamcast, it pretty much signaled that the company was going to hell. They've trashed their main franchise (sonic) and haven't really done anything new thats worthwhile since the end of the dreamcast...

I have mass effect (check my gamertag) and I'm enjoying it so far, but these reviews are getting out of hand. I can honestly say its one of the most overrated games ever. Its a 9.0 game in my book. Very good, but far from perfect.
You don't have to get the bleeding edge tech everytime to play games. You can get a good card in the 300-350 range and it'll last you 2-3 years. You don't have to upgrade every time to keep playing otherwise you could say the same about consoles. Do you have to get the brand new edition of every console once it comes out? Do you have the 360 core, premium, the elite, the hdmi premium, the halo edition, the 65nm edition etc? Or the 60gb ps3, the 20gb, the 80gb and the 40gb?

Halo 3 will win goty, a bunch of drunk c level celebs will read bad jokes off teleprompters and feign interest in gaming and some crappy emo bands might play. That about sums it up.
