"errr...yeah well, we let you win"
AMD compete on price. Without them to counter Nvidia's monopolistic ambitions, GPU prices would easily be far more than what they are today.
As AMD spend less money on advertising and than Nvidia, they're able to keep hardware prices down.
Rather than launching a stupid software war (like how Sony and Microsoft compete), it is in all of our interests if they keep their investment firmly in hardware and drivers.
You own an AMD card? Go...
Well if they do collapse, we can only hope that a silver lining might be the purchase of the Timesplitters IP by a studio which is actually going to do something with it.
Unless you pay $49.99 for the upcoming sims "living the life" expansion pack, the first of 73 to come.
Crysis 2 pushed tessellated concrete barriers to the limit. We may not see such high-detail blocks of concrete in a video game for a long time (not that anyone would be complaining).
Correction: *we need more diversity and female represenation so much as it improves the quality of games
This takes into account different perspectives and meritocratic hiring. Diversity is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. I'm sure this particular increase has largely been for the best.
The problem with looking at minorities is that they often come from the same socioeconomic background, unlike women who are equally spread among rich and poor and in various regions of the country.
For example, if we assume that all game designers come from middle-income households, we would expect minorities to be under-represented naturally, given that they are often polarised at the poorer end of the spectrum (probably due in the USA to the institutionalised racism which p...
To be fair it probably helps the social life in studios, creating a better environment for all. No "the girl" situations and some female employees (the one's who don't care much for the attention) probably feel more comfortable.
Though I wish SJW's would stop complaining for a moment about raw figures and instead look at changes, because otherwise they only end up creating momentum which inevitably overshoots its original target of making things "fa...
Ok fair enough, Crysis 3 was also partially responsible after racking up appallling sales, and Crysis 2, while not a failure (over 3 million copies sold) was not exactly an outstanding success.
Mediocrity followed by Ryse and Crysis 3, both flops, seem to have killed the studio.
@HacSawJimThugin
Crytek also stated that they're not currently in financial difficulties. Studios will say anything to keep funding coming in from banks and inves...
It seems that the primary problems have been the dismal performance of Ryse: Son of Rome (less than a million sales worldwide; compare this to ten million for AC: Black Flag) alongside underperformance of the Cryengine 4.
I'm quite shocked they were even making a Ryse sequel. I wouldn't expect Microsoft to save Crytek, as they seem to have been the reason for their decline in the first place.
Pedantics. I was implying that it was not rigged by Valve.
"The greater internet community" do not exist solely on Reddit.
But in truth I don't care as the competition is really stupid to begin with. Valve need to bring back something like the seasonal coal sale of 2011. Now that was good fun.
It is not rigged.
Members of whichever team have an early lead all make at least one badge, boosting that lead heavily (after all, no points if you don't create a badge).
And then people on Reddit manipulating it.
So not rigged, but an awfully designed competition.
lol witty response XD
To be honest I don't get the obsession with trilogies and the number three in the first place.
Hopefully by a publisher like Zenimax who will continue to make their games multiplatform. There are enough exclusives and we shouldn't need two near-identical systems to play all the games we want.
Lol putting "Microsoft" and "PC space" in the same sentence. Microsoft don't give a rat's arse about PC gamers.
PC gamers will suffer if Microsoft buy Crytek, and the worst thing is that sadistic fanboys will revel in their misery as only they are allowed to play Crysis 4.
Well I can't blame suicide on the existence of people who will always exist in a free society. Those suicides were tragedies, and if anything, I blame them on lack of support or mental illness (which is under-diagnosed) plus the fact that there are inherent dangers to allowing all youngsters on the wild west of the internet while they are going through the hormonally-driven emotions of the teenage years (some can deal with it while others can't).
The problem with bein...
Yes, there is also racism, homophobia and other forms of bigotry, as these people will always exist, with the only variable being the size of their membership.
We have a catch-all term for these type of people; as***les.
They will always be present in society, and we just have to deal with it and ignore them. These people won't make many friends in life and will probably make a great deal of enemies, so it's their loss, and their words should be taken with thi...
I can see EA buying them out if they don't make it through this alone.
Having said that...Oculus have a LOT of Facebook cash floating around right now and I'm sure they're keen to grab developers skilled at crafting ultra-realistic graphics. Obtaining the CryEngine and thus making the next iteration heavily VR-centric might be another notch in their belt.
