Great now how about:

How gamers who don't own an Xbox One will suffer from Microsoft purchasing Crytek and Capcom.

I mean theoretically yes, Microsoft could buy all AAA studios and then have a monopoly on video games. And then how good would that be for the consumer when they raise prices because they can (seeing as half of all games become Xbox exclusive).

The practice of buying out third party devs should be frowned upon by all of us wh...

But then with the theming of the series what factors actually are relevant beyond the title?

I mean, Bioshock indicates quite well its own important features: "There’s always a lighthouse. There’s always a man. There’s always a city". Changing one of these factors thus renders a title 'not Bioshock'.
I would argue that having a young man (Link) and a princess (zelda) are quintessential parts of the series (perhaps the only remaining).
If th...

They read two articles on the internet and suddenly think this is representative of all fans XD

But yeah, elephants are cool.

They changed Starbuck in BSG and it seemed to work OK, but only for new fans. Zelda is too recent to be changing protagonist genders as everyone already has a picture of who Link is in their heads.
I mean, remaking Star Wars with a female Darth Vader in ten years would be met with anger. In one hundred years, without any new movies, I'm sure that would be accepted, as we'd all be dead and it'd be new to most.

If they ever want to make a game with a female ...

True, but all you've proven is that on a base level, we all want to play characters like ourselves. Your daughter will grow up favouring female characters and probably opt for them wherever possible in future.

Thus, aggregate game leads are generally representative of the demographics of their market where profit is being maximised (perhaps one day gaming will be as popular among women as men and we'll see a 50/50 split).

I just hope that this means w...

Lazy social 'justice' article riddled with spelling mistakes, poor grammar and shallow thought. On an objective level nothing matters, and there is no 'we' in the gaming community on divisive issues (we all hate intrusive DRM, while we were split on the ME3 ending); I was against it but some were in favour and I respect Bioware's decision to compromise between the two groups...though I believe many more were against it than pro).

And yes it does. I like pl...

Hmm. To be honest as long as the platform is just the one they publish their own stuff on (or stuff they fund), i won't be that bothered.
It could of course also be like, Uplay, which is Steam compatible.

Fingers crossed it's not another Origin with the addition of limiting VR features.

Would you like to see Half Life 3 on Xbox One? What about Uncharted 4 or The Order 1886?

What does it matter if PS4 or PC gamers get to play the same game as you? Are you competing to prove you made the best spending decision? Do you enjoy their misery when only you get to play some of the games (despite the fact you are miserable when their platforms get exclusives)?

If you answered yes to the top paragraph and no to the following one then you'll see why...

From a selfish perspective, I wouldn't have an issue with Bioware giving 100 options to minority gamers (5% of the populace are LGBT while 47.5% and 47.5% are heterosexual males and females) as long as they gave a single half decent option for the heterosexual males who make up the majority (I mean, Cassandra and Vivienne IMO are pretty awful; also, with ten companions, it strikes me as strange that only three are women) of people who will play this game.

However (onto my...

I thought that the AC:U gender "controversy" was mostly just a vocal minority speaking up about it and the wider gaming community disagreeing with them?
i.e. the controversy was nothing to do with Ubisoft, but in regards to the authors of those articles?

I do agree that the PC version of Watch_Dogs was a let-down, especially for AMD users, but I think the major problem with Ubisoft is their unwillingness to do anything truly new (beyond making everything mul...

Actually I've been gaming at 60fps on a PC, and the difference is pretty big when you have a mouse to allow rapid camera movements.

I don't consider denouncing 30fps to be crying either. He's making a statement that assuming VR is the future (as he does), such low frame-rates are simply insufficient.

While 30fps is manageable for games as we play them now, for VR it will cripple the experience, and that's his main point.

I think the problem is that female gamers are still very much a minority when it comes to console+PC games.

If we want more diversity we need a more diverse playerbase, and the best way to achieve this is to start a campaign to get more women playing console+PC video games!

Women do want to play women and men want to play men (in general), so if we ever get to 50/50, we might finally see a situation where 50% of protagonists are male and female.

Better to have realistic bodies (I mean, why train yourself to be attracted to that which you'll honestly never have in real
Life? Or never have while maintaining good health?) but proportioned so as to fit the realistic high-end of beauty standards of course! (Nice to have games full of beautiful people, male and female)

It would be cool to see armour weight be more of a choice for women and men. Cover up and protect yourself or (referring to men) fight He-man st...

DragonKnight isn't telling the devs to do anything. They're just explaining what the rational market action would be to take where "the customer is always right" holds.
If they devs are willing to take profit cuts to push social causes, well that's up to them, but they shouldn't be bullied into doing so by their audience in the same way they shouldn't be bullied into NOT doing so. If you disagree with a game's message or style, don't buy it at ful...

No it doesn't. Markets generally reflect social views (unless devs have a personal agenda) and they do not have a 'responsibility' to change them to any arbitrary definition of what they "should" be. Homosexuality is normal+natural (though not 'the norm' - big difference here) , but part of that is just letting it be treated normally and not overrepresenting it (high estimates are that 5% of the population are LGBT).

The more people call for thin...

No it doesn't.

There's a world of difference in ensuring someone has the ability to go about their life without fear of being socially and economically excluded and harrassed because of the way they were born and demanding that mega-budget AAA games cater exclusively to these small groups.

The former is a noble fight against intolerance, while the latter is a contemptible example of such intolerance.

I imagine most leads are pretty ho...

"ensure that there's no overall slanting towards a particular group "

See, this is the thing I can't understand about Bioware's new approach to romances.

IMO if 70% of players play a homosexual female dwarf, 70% of romances should be aimed at homosexual female dwarves, simply so that their effort is distributed evenly across all players.

What's the point of making a game where 80% of the romances will only be experie...

No, if it has a female protagonist now, they'll think that their tactics have worked and will keep at it.

Don't and they will keep at it anyway.

In the end the only strategy is to ignore them.

I switched off when I heard this thing was F2P and multiplayer only.

Free to play is for people who can't afford to buy games even for £5 on a Steam Sale (ie. kids).

Multiplayer can be great fun, but IMO there's nothing quite like seeing a single-player game with top-notch AI and consequently more immersion than an MP-game where everyone runs around with highlighted names above their heads.

That, and for people who don't have...
