I recently left university in the UK after three years surrounded by Marxists. They spend all their time arguing these points and pushing divisive motions through the Students' Union using underhanded tactics to secure votes. They do not for one second believe they may be wrong.
These people go on to work at the BBC, and are conduits for this morality to be expressed, which is why they have selective vision,
We are also coming off the back of a period whe...
This is tit for tat. Nothing more.
You once again fail to grasp the true nature of the SJW argument.
There is no attempt to communicate, discuss, or tolerate the views of other people here. None whatsoever.
SJWs have determined themselves to be judge, jury and executioner, and so continue to write scathing, hate-filled articles attacking gamers and devs for not agreeing with them and towing their line. They don't seek dialogue, but instead want submission.
If you can't...
Gamers do believe social issues exist. We simply disagree with SJWs on what they are and how far we pursue them.
We don't like being "preached" to by people trying to "convert" us to a cause which has evidence no more sophisticated than a child would use to back their argument, alongside unfalsifiable neo-Marxist ideas of patriarchal (bourgeoise) oppression.
@mixelon
In what way?
Who is criticising SJW-friendly media? If they want books with female protagonists that's fine. If they want movies with strong female leads, then that's fine, and I'm not going to criticise.
I wouldn't watch them myself because I'd rather have things which appeal more to me and my lifestyle (I can empathise more with a male lead in paternal, fraternal and romantic themes), but I would, if I had a case, try an...
I suppose it depends on whether we can mutually agree on what a "bad guy" is.
I mean yes, there are crazy extremists on either side who take things too far, but I believe there is a "good" side in one of the general arguments.
Take the SJWs: Have an idea of morality. Believe that more games should reflect this morality, regardless of what sales figures dictate the wider audience actually wants.
Anti-SJWs: Have a different ...
lol. Gaming culture?
This is Japanese culture...but of course SJWs aren't allowed to *directly* bash the ways of other countries, as that would be "racist". They have to find a proxy, which in this case is "gaming culture".
Not that I have a problem with this demo. It isn't to my taste, but each to their own.
Wow seriously?
When did PETA become more important than I don't know... the people who actually BUY games???
I think gamers need a lobby group to counter groups like PETA when they start protecting virtual animals.
-Support journalists who argue against them.
-Contribute to the rise of newer, "cleaner" websites yourself.
Many of us don't have time to do the latter, but we can almost certainly use our custom to raise the profile of websites which "fight the good fight".
We need more articles like this to spread the truth about our concerns, and combat the false narrative being portrayed by hipster game journalists and Sarkeesian's minions.
Additionally, we need to catch the attention of devs, which is only going to be done through headlines. In light of all the hatred against our side of the debate, it's both important and brave for writers to be taking a stand to keep our hobby free from external "moral"-sociopolitic al pr...
If we don't rise against them and post counter-articles (amongst other things), they will continue to skew the industry in a way which makes things unfair for those who actually buy the games.
Very tempted to boycott future games by Jaros until he apologises to the community for kowtowing to feminazis like Sarkeesian. I will not fund feminism.
It's unfortunate that most people can't spot the endless stream of logical fallacies in the arguments of third wave feminists which render them no more valid than those used in most Abrahamic religions.
It's called market segmentation.
Skimpy armour in games is aimed at men wanting to look at attractive women. Like most porn, these games are not aimed at heterosexual females.
If heterosexual females were more commonplace in the market (and save me that stupid ESA study which ignores platform), you can be sure there would be more substantial armour to appeal to them. That's because companies would be able to make more money doing so.
How is calling someone "honey" or "dear" or assume they're buying for a loved one "misogynistic"?? Other men call me "mate" and older women call ME dear and honey!!!
Yes it's sexist, but then so are men who buy women drinks, and skirts marketed at women etc. I mean way to be petty!
Perhaps those unknown men are trying to be nice and don't do it to men because the male-female relationship (of any kind) is different to...
The people who write these articles need to grow up. The real world is not as "misogynistic" as spending all your free time on Tumblr would have you believe.
Nobody's that stupid.
Plenty of women play PC+console games, but they just don't make up much of *that* market (they dominate mobile however).
Believe me, I think most male gamers would love it if PC+consoles were taken up more by women so that the hobby becomes socially on par with film-watching, and so they might be able to play with their partners, but that's just not the way the market is right now.
I would estimate that 15% o...
No it was not. This is school-level statistics, and it's not very useful.
The market is heavily segmented, and women play MORE mobile games than men but far LESS fixed-platform (PC/console) games.
Data can be misleading, and this certainly is.
Yet again a stupid, meaningless study.
IOS and console/PC are totally different markets, so have no place being rolled into one.
I'm not sure who this is intended to help actually.
No need to try and argue with these people.
Attempting that is like trying to encourage a missionary to leave your people alone.
I think we will alll be "PC" gamers one day in the sense of buying hardware and then choosing the OS and controller type after purchase (so we can play all exclusives), but not desktop/motebook gamers.
Markets generally tend towards efficiency, and the current situation, whete people end up with two near-identical consoles simply won't continue for much longer.
