You forget that MS pushed XBL Arcade, then they pushed indie games before it was popular with XNA.
Even to this day, nobody allows indies to publish a console game for a mere $100, let alone the fact that MS has free tools and a great developer community behind it.
The competition requires indies to pay several thousand dollars for a dev kit, if they are even approved for one.
Low barrier to entry is with MS platform, not the competitors.
The internet explodes based on a rumor from a guy that doesn't even feel good about their own source:
"Famousmortimer: I can't get into specifics even slightly about who it was because a blacklist from activision could murder any game based website. But I can say that, no, he/she isn't like a digital foundry pixel counter. I don't know how the 720p number was come up with, whether it's a guess or was told... and at this point if I asked I would get si...

Looks like cheap plastic. What happened to translucent blue?
Or it is translucent, but really dark.
@Bennibop:
"You do realise that Sonyt has been using dedicate servers since the PS3 released, it is microsoft that is playing catch up here."
Is that why KillZone Shadowfall is P2P masquerading as dedicated servers?
Even the developer themselves say:

It's not compatible because MS made a new proprietary wireless system that improves latency and has a higher bandwidth of data transmission.
That is how they get they are able to upgrade their audio quality on chat for instance. It also will enable other accessories that was previously unavailable or not conceived yet, because of previous hardware limitation.
A fresh start also allows hardware designers to create hardware that take advantage of specific f...
@Elzer:
MS cloud was a huge reason why Titanfall is exclusive, so I think you are correct. It depends on if Sony has a proper cloud at all, or if Respawn has to build their own cloud infrastructure.
Once the game is complete for Xbox One, it will take a good year for a port to happen to any other platform assuming the cloud situation is is resolved.
So yeah, that time exclusive window could be 1-2 years out, in which case some other games a...
@DragonKnight:
Done spreading lies?
""Killzone Shadow Fall has dedicated servers hosted in various regions around the world. These servers do not run the logic of the game – they only act as a hub between the clients, forwarding network traffic from one player in game to all other players in game. This allows people with a slower connection or strict firewall settings to play without issues.""
The "dedicated" ser...
Whatever number you get at this point is pointless, because supply is constrained for both MS and Sony.
It says nothing about demand, but rather at best about the supply.
Even then, the grand scheme of even a few million units is miniscule for the overall lifetime sales.
To even get an indication you really have to wait until next holiday when more of the games are out, the direction is clear and the console is in peoples hand and the word of...
That is not true, as mentioned several times consumers has limited time and money. So it will be one or the other for many people.
Also, Ubisoft will do what is best for itself, and pushing next generation console sale isn't their direct agenda. Waiting means larger user base as well, without killing the new ip and launch system anticipation.
It is a sound move for Ubisoft!
This is just taken completely out of context and run with it by bad "journalism".
MS has to say "game dvr support is up to developer) for legal reasons, because the developer has the power to prevent recording to avoid spoilers. Because of that, the developer has the power to prevent recording to the entire game.
Therefore MS can't say all games support Game DVR, because that is not necessarily true in the future. Unlikely, but possible. <...

Sony is likely the same way.
Roughly half jumped shipped over the lifetime of the console, and there was nothing tying them to the same console brand previously, unless you think BC is important.
This generation, people value their account and friends. The connected gamer is what gave MS a huge edge, and I expect that same player base doesn't have an issue with the DRM and only care about playing online.
So no, each new generation is no longer a clean state when you are invested!
Ironically that is likely why your grandfather is a millionaire, and most aren't!
@UltimateMaster
I couldn't agree more!
No indie developer with limited access to perhaps one console, let alone the ability, technical skills or even resources there to exploit the full power of a console.
At best of what I have seen, indie games are Wii graphics quality and complexity games.
It might be the most powerful to you, since you have seen anything else.
I think a lot of people under estimate the power of the general public. Those that don't pre-order, don't follow game news and largely aren't aware of games in general.
We know this crowd as the Wii crowd, and it was so successful out of the blue that Nintendo had to cut funding to marketing completely.
Point being, that market hasn't spoken, let alone the core market that we only have rumors and speculations so far.

It's pretty simple really, EA wants to control all their servers and it makes it easy to manage all their infrastructure from one place across all platforms.
MS Cloud initiative for Xbox One helps studios that either don't have the resources to build and manage their cloud servers and those that want to save cost i.e. CoD on Xbox One is dedicated servers all the way, but CoD on other platforms are listening server, which is P2P!!!
Example is manageme...
All these years, MS made the best online platform for consoles with the best of class features, that the competition still aren't caught up to.
Next generation, MS provides massive cloud power larger than many large cloud infrastructure companies.
That is what games got back for their money all these years.
If gamers wanted a value service that gives away free games, and don't care about the other online features, there is always PS4...
I can't complain.
Better than 90% of the information here consisting of poorly written opinion pieces, flamebait and clickbait articles and re-iterated news gazillion times.
or you could get a smart phone!
That said, most of this will likely come to Xbox One via apps anyhow. There are strong hints that Windows 8 apps is coming to Xbox One.
