Nice.
Now where is the North American release date? One would think that we'd get it the same time as and/or before Europe.
Has that release date been confirmed? Or are they just basing their statement on the 10/24 release date rumor posted a few days ago?
Really guys, this again? Really?
Can't you find new things to diss the Wii about? I'm not even asking people to start writing positive articles about the system. Just please, don't write the same negative article that every other self-proclaimed hardcore gaming pundit has been writing since late 2006.
I know why don't you follow this article up with one about how the Wii has bad graphics... Or, you could criticize Nintendo for abandoning the hardcore game. Oh boy.
Amazingly well said.
I agree completely.
I'd still like to know if they plan to release this game in North America at all, and if so, when.
I don't really get the Shadow of the Colossus argument. It'd be nice if this linked to an actual article and not a forum post that isn't the first post in the thread or even in English. Since the source material is incomprehensible, the only conclusion I can draw is that the comparison to SotC is simply "SotC had huge bosses; Kizuna has huge bosses; thus Kizuna game is a SotC ...
So, wait, Conduit is a generic FPS, but the sequels you listed aren't?
At least The Conduit is a new title with a fresh control style and not another entry in a tired franchise.
Um, first of all, nearly everyone here responded directly to the content of your article. I quoted it several times.
And how is this debate uncivil?
I've seen some embarrassingly childish debates on these comments section from supporters of all consoles, but what I see here is totally reasonable. You make a series of claims, and we explain why we disagree. You use review statistics, we counter with our own take on the number. This is the ideal point-counterpoint mode...
Microsoft may have just thrown money at Nintendo until they agreed. A "deal" doesn't necessarily mean that the game will appear on VC as well.
That said, Microsoft and Nintendo seem to be getting friendly when it comes to Rare, since there's a Viva Pinata game on the DS and one rumored for the Wii.
In some ways it would make sense for Microsoft to let Rare develop for other platforms, since it would increase their profits and the Rare name isn't as essentia...
Once again, my argument wasn't with your specific points, or even with the fact that the article was biased. It was with the disingenuous tone that the article was written in. The article prefaces--like your previous console war article--prefaces itself as a balanced view, but it feels like and afterthought and a justification added to the real fan purpose of the article (a list of reasons why the PS3 was winning the console war in one and an attack on a competitor in the other).
...
I don't know how I feel about PSXExtreme. They had another article that I panned because I felt it was disingenuous. It seemed like Playstation fan catering disguised trying desperately to disguise itself as a balanced perspective. And that's pretty much how I feel about this article.
Honestly, there is nothing wrong with being a fan PlayStation fan site and openly making arguments for its superiority. I've read some great, passionate arguments for the PS3. But the attempts to pr...
Yes, but it's also the smartest, most analytical, and most even-handed of those articles (most of which were either "lulz wii sux" or "nah guys i luv ninty, shut up").
I don't agree with all of the points in this article, but at least they make a real attempt to explain Nintendo's business practices.
If it's Oct. 24 in Europe, the America release should be simultaneous or slightly earlier, judging by other releases.
But, if it is coming out in less than two months, why hasn't Nintendo hyped this more? Is it simply not the kind of game they think will benefit from an advertising campaign, or are they trying to bury it because the quality is still spotty?
I guess we'll know soon enough.
Guys, can we talk about this game and leave the console warfare on the many, many articles where it is actually appropriate?
Personally, what I would like to know is:
Will this game see North American release?
Is this the same team responsible for Little King's Story? I see that the two developers listed were both involved with LKS.
I felt like Mario Galaxy was actually more challenging than Mario 64 (which was challenging when I was 14 or 15 and playing it for the first time, but which seem pretty tame now, aside from Tick-Tock Clock and the rainbow ride world).
The first few levels of SMG are pretty easier, but once you get to the last two sets of galaxies, some stages are very demanding (or, at least, they were for me). The difficulty curve isn't as smooth as it was in SM64, but it has a higher peak.
Honestly, all this bluster about "core vs casual" gamers and insidious plans to make shovelware aside, I think what this really comes down to is a stupid development scheduling mistake on the part of Nintendo.
Up until now, they've done a competent job of staggering the release dates of their new "casual" Wii line of games and their older "core" franchise games. They had a Twilight Princess for every Wii Sports, a Metroid Prime and a Mario Galaxy for...
Honestly, this list is total dreck.
Not because I don't want to hear bad things about these games--there are already too many sites that don't offer real critical analysis in their previews--but because they squandered the opportunity to point out potential legitimate potential faults in these games, instead falling back on hollow, superficial criticisms. LBP is an interactive PowerPoint? Honestly? They don't like Star Wars storylines? Well, sure, but what about, you know, gamepl...
Oops, my bad. I bailed on the article pretty early because most of it was regurgitated points made elsewhere in the gaming media, so I didn't read everything.
To their credit, this isn't a ranked list, so the fact that Killzone 2 appears first could just as easily be a compliment to the game as a criticism, or be the result of totally random ordering.
Of course, that doesn't explain why it's on the list at all with an '09 release date.
Isn't 4/6th of the way through the year a little late to be doing the "Most Anticipated" anything of 2008?
Yes, I agree
Some of the jokes felt forced, but it was still a smart, funny, and well written article overall.
It is also nice to read a gaming article that is self-aware and self-deprecating instead of being full of "hardcore" posturing and empty buzz.
Oh, so it will have offline multiplayer? Awesome.
Honestly though, I think it's sad that this "will its graphics equal the 360?" debate is obscuring the issue of whether or now this will really be an FPS that plays to the strengths of the Wii and best utilizes what makes it unique as a console. I'm far more interested in the innovative control schemes than the graphics.
