Honestly, I welcome this. Personally, this means more time to finish SMG2 and catch up on titles I was too broke to buy earlier this year. This also means that maybe they aren't pushing S&P2 out to die. Giving it space to breathe between two major releases is definitely good news for a title that would have been neglected (by both Nintendo and consumers) otherwise.
My suspicion is that Nintendo has realized that such a cluttered two month period has few benefits and many potential drawbacks, particularly for poor S&P2.
I think adding some time between releases is probably a good thing. It may even mean that they plan to throw a bit of advertising weight behind Sin & Punishment and not just push it out to die quietly like Excitebots (which is what I feared they were doing when they crammed it between Galaxy 2 and Other M).
"the Wii just doesn't have the umph to create games that are heavily story based, compelling and immersive."
My god, when did this become the standard? When did "heavily story based" become an essential criteria for a quality game, outstripping things like gameplay, challenge, innovation, etc.? The other two terms "compelling" and "immersive" are so broad in definition and open to interpretation that they are worthless, and the only definit...
Honestly, I loved the castle in Mario 64, but the space station in Mario Galaxy seemed pretty disposable. There really wasn't anything compelling or interesting to do in the hub.
Still, I'm not sure if this is necessarily superior. I guess we'll know in May.
Yes, I love the gif.
And hopefully we'll get a US release date that is before the end of the year.
Note that Pachter said nothing about titles like New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Mario Kart Wii, which continue to be strong sellers, and have not been sold out. His argument is based entirely on titles that have been experiencing shortages.
Did Pachter overlook something this obvious, or is he coming up with his interpretation first and then just selecting evidence to support it? If it's the latter, what does he have to gain from being chronically wrong? When the sales of the hardw...
I'm waiting for more reviews.
This isn't the type of game Nintendo Power generally appreciates. I don't have an issue with the magazine in general, but they definitely have a preference for more accessible mainstream titles. Considering the good press Fragile has been getting elsewhere, I wouldn't base your decision totally on NP.
I wouldn't expect to see Sin & Punishment 2 at E3, since it will (hopefully) be released in North America before then. The same might be true of Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Certainly Zelda Wii will be displayed prominently at E3 though.
June for Mario, August for Other M seems most likely.
Zelda Wii is likely to be Nintendo's major holiday release.
My questions are:
When will we see Xenoblade in the US? What about Sin & Punishment 2? Will we ever hear anymore about Line Attack Heroes? Is The Last Story on track for release this year in the US? And that's not to mention unannounced titles. Gah.
Yes, if this is true the price better be $10 or less. But I'm expecting at least $15, in which case this will be a hard purchase to justify.
Glad to see World of Goo on here, but less glad about the omission of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. While I can see why it might be bested by popular favorites like Left 4 Dead or Fallout 3, I think it at least deserves more recognition that Mirror's Edge's ~4-5 campaign. It was an interesting concept, but more tech demo than game.
I remember the development team for the original Iron Man game making claims similar to this--how it would not be of low quality like other movie games--before it was released, and now Sega is apologizing for that game and promising the sequel will be better. Sorry, but I'm skeptical.
I'm withholding judgment until they say how long each episode will be and how much they will cost. The interview seems to imply that the first episode will be equivalent to one of the original Sonic titles. Does that mean that it will have about 8-12 zones, like the originals? If so, that would be worthwhile. If it is only 2-3 zones for $10-15, count me out.
OK, Bruce is notorious for using poor or deceptive information, but:
"Even the bosses of Nintendo are now talking openly about the Wii's replacement."
Only if by that you mean "dispelling rumors about a replacement." Good lord, what bad, bad, bad journalism.
It was fun, but it felt a little incomplete and not as climatic as it could have been. Would love to see each world have a boss in the sequel.
I had so much fun with the original, will buy the sequel for sure. I wonder what features will be added? More and better boss battles would be nice, as would mapping jumping to a button press, or tightening the responsiveness of the jump motion. Bigger and more diverse worlds would be cool. So much potential. I am very eager to see what the design team does with this.
Pachter is a notoriously poor analyst, but even if this came from a legitimate source I'd be skeptical. It looks like last year's cuts to the Wii and PS3's prices were enough to boost sales considerably over the holidays, and I don't see either Nintendo or Sony cutting their prices unless sales decrease significantly (which seems unlikely). New bundles seem more likely for both.
Xbox 360 is harder to call. Maybe they will drop the Elite another $50 to try to regain advantage on t...
I like the fact that this article acknowledge the value of debate while putting down pointless uninformed flaming. There is definitely fun to be hard in argues the strengths and weaknesses of different consoles, but oblivious ranting and empty insults are worthless.
A two week delay for Sin & Punishment 2 and a two month delay for Other M by no means equals deletion. In fact, it will probably help Nintendo by preventing their titles from competing with each other. Cool as the original three games in two months release schedule was, I always thought it was a little crazy, and I couldn't see how Nintendo stood to profit.
The confirmed release date for Other M also puts an end to the speculation that it was being pushed back to replace Zeld...
