How does a game with the potential for over 100 hours of gameplay get only an 8.5 for lasting appeal? What would the game need to earn a 9?

That said, I may very well pick this up. I feel like this game might be totally neglected by Wii gamers in midst of the hype over MadWorld.

Oh jeeze, it's this kid again with another "this is a balanced perspective on the Wii even though my information is completely incorrect, my piece is nothing but biased bashing, and I'm writing for a fan site" article.

Seriously, if you just came out and wrote "I'm a PS3 fan and I don't like the Wii. Here's why." I would respect you. But instead you operate under false pretenses and offer back-handed compliments.

For that reason, even if this ...

God God, how many on rails shooters about zombies (or, mutants) do we need?

My answer: One. And that's HOTD: OVERKILL.

I wish Capcom, Sega, and EA would stop this cycle of IP not-quite-plagiarism and not follow up every promise to cater to Wii owners with a game where you can blow a zombie's face off with shotgun but you can't walk backwards.

Full price? The retail price for the New Play Control games is $29.99. That's $20 less than a full price Wii release and 50% of full price for a PS3/360 game.

I don't remember many complaints when Capcom released a nearly identical version of RE4 with improved Wii controls for $30, but yet when Nintendo follows the same model, they are suddenly trying to rip off gamers.

Edit: Not that GamesRader is calling the game a rip-off. Aside from their mistaken claim that th...

I don't think Muramasa has an official release date yet. I am hoping for late Spring or early Summer, but that may be wishful thinking.

I really hope that Kizuna is given a North American release date soon. I would hate to see it get stuck in limbo like Fatal Frame or Fragile.

To the writer's credit, he stated that it was a list of games "due out by summer" and I doubt that we will see Kizuna before this summer in North America.

Muramasa, however, is a pretty large oversight unless the writer felt that it was too high profile to be a sleeper title.

As far as the how derivative the game's environment will be, I think it's too early to tell.

If the game really makes the most of its Washington D.C. setting, utilizing lots of real interior and exterior locations (particularly iconic locations like Capitol Hill, the various monuments, the pentagon, etc.), then I think it has a chance of really distinguishing itself. However, if it goes mainly for dim alleys and florescent lights + gun metal catwalk spaceship interiors, then it w...

Wow, Nintendo has been announcing a lot of promising titles lately.

I wonder if they are funneling some of their massive profits into reviving and rejuvenating old franchises.

Edit: My bad, Majesco is the publisher, not Nintendo. Still eager to see how this title develops.

Actually, IGN has been a lot kinder to the Wii than some other sites (see: GameSpot). They have consistently given the system's better games both the hype (see: MadWorld) and the scores (see: de Blob, HOTD: OVERKILL) they deserve, unlike some other sites (once again, see: GameSpot).

That said, this review seems to be 50% legitimate criticism (awkward camera, sluggish movement, zero difficulty) and 50% "this isn't the Sonic I grew up with." Also, I would have liked more ...

Awesome.

Now, how about a sequel?

Woo, more high quality copy/paste reporting from Kotaku.

This is an odd development choice though and I can see why it might irk people with HDTVs. Although if MadWorld is worth even a fraction of the hype that it has been receiving, I suspect it's something that most will be willing to overlook. (Personally, I have a standard definition TV, so this won't be a factor in my decision about buying it.)

I think that all of this discussion about whether the 360 or PS3 make more profit on multiplatform games is pretty myopic.

The real question, in my mind, is: Why are games this generation, more than perhaps any other, going multiplatform?

I think that the answer is that rising development costs, particularly for the HD systems, and the fact that PS3 and 360 are--in spite of fanboy quibbling--in close competition is making development of single platform exclusives fin...

First, let me say that I put "hardcore" in quotation marks because I was talking about how EA presents their strategy to the media, not what I want from them. I think the whole hardcore/casual dichotemy is divisive and totally wrong-headed, so I don't endorse the labels.

That said, there is a difference between creating a new, inclusive gaming experience that can be enjoyed by a broad range of players and simply ripping off a strategy that has succeeded for your competi...

I have to admit I'm of two minds about this.

On one hand, as I said in the announcement thread, I'm very glad that this is an original game and not a simple port. And if Extraction really does manage to reinvent the rails shooter genre in significant ways--particularly ways that create more gameplay variety and significant extend game length--then I'm definitely going to buy it without reservation.

However, this does seem like a rather cynical, cautious move on the p...

Wow, so it is an entirely new game built specifically for the Wii AND it has multiplayer.

That's great. So it won't get trashed for being a graphically downgraded port with tacked-on motion controls and it'll (hopefully) provide an actual deep multiplayer experience for a system that desperately needs one. Looks like I may have a Wii game, besides Brawl, that I can play with friends without passing the controller back and forth.

And yet No More Heroes and Robocalypse are getting sequels, while other games thar sold comparable amounts are causing the collapse of development companies.

I'd say that goes to show that the definition of "flop" is more about money spent vs. money earned than simply the number of units sold.

Is the multiplayer in Onslaught online only, or is there splitscreen?

I've only seen online mentioned in any of the articles I've read.

I'd really love to see a Wii FPS with local multiplayer, since my connection is too slow to support online play (and, also, I'm not really a fan of online multiplayer to begin with).

I was thinking this too.

And, personally, I would rather see a new, original Resident Evil game designed specifically for the Wii, rather than a RE5: Wii Edition, particularly since RE5Wii would get bashed both for being a port and for haven't stripped down graphics and (probably) fewer enemies on screen (see: Dead Rising).

Meanwhile, a Wii original RE would have the dual advantages of being an exclusive for the console and being designed specifically to optimize th...
