He said nothing about sales in that post. What is clear is that a lot of games he expected to be available at launch will no longer be available at launch.
Yes. Console launches typically are very important. In this case, it's obvious that neither company will be able to produce enough to satisfy demand. For the near future, every series x|s and ps5 shipped will be sold.
The console with more units sold typically gets more support from 3rd party developers.
I love when people prove me wrong with sources and not just gut instincts.
^ People keep saying that it hasn't sold out and yet every link that someone posts it says: "out of stock"
I wonder why that is.
Doubt we'll see another gen less than 6 years ever again.
It's almost like no one actually read his quote:
Here's an important snippet:
"The number one thing that's going to dictate how many consoles we sell [at launch] is not the competition and it's not a Halo or a launch lineup. It's going to be how many units we can build."
The rest of his quote is him guesstimating that the pandemic has resulted in a spike of gaming demand and a restriction of what can be pro...
Highly doubt producing FF7R (a game fans have been asking for for decades) was a risk. People were absolutely going to buy it, unless Square did something absolutely terrible with it.
It does suck that one poor AAA game can have such a huge impact on a company's financials.
Especially when they had so many successful titles in the same year.
I think you are overestimating how serious casuals are.
There is a reason the OG PS4 has been outselling the PS4 Pro on a month to month basis.
In the long run, I fully expect the Series S to outsell the Series X.
Core gamers are a minority of console purchases but a majority of software purchases.
Casuals are a majority of console purchases but a minority of software purchases.
Who's downloading 2 CoD games? When the casuals finish with the 1st one, they'll delete it and move on to the 2nd one.
You made a long comment, with lots of good points (for a gaming hobbyist).
Call of Duty's size could be (most likely is) a case of poor compression / asset storage.
Best value for money is definitely PS5 digital, but the extra benefits really won't matter all that much to a casual.

Series S makes perfect sense for casuals.
And an upgrade + 60 fps is even better.
They should implement some kind of queue system for online orders. Rather than "selling out" and waiting for a restock, they should continue to take orders and just fill them in the order they were received.
Mr. Pachter is the type of analyst that will probably lose all of your money.
I know this is off topic. But there is exactly one article in the "Today's Hottest" section with no comments. 👀
It even works on the PS Vita!
You need a screwdriver to put the stand on your TV. Using a simple screwdriver is by no means consumer unfriendly.
Only console I've ever cleaned (or even opened up) was a 360. And that was only to attempt to resolve the RROD (which was not resolved).
@Silly gameAr Sorry, if you don't like my constructive criticism. Gaming is becoming more accessible than ever. Why not accommodate all preferences? It's a tiny change from a hardware perspective. Only slightly more difficult than producing controllers of different colors. Note how I presented the challenge to all three console makers. Not sure why you're getting so defensive.
These days it really doesn't make sense to have a web browser on a console.
