I wasn't aware Digital Foundry "promoted" anything. They simply report what they know.
Never huh?

I guess never must be a pretty short time.
Astro bot (and maybe Visions of Mana) are the only games for the rest of the year that I plan on getting at launch.
I will get Echos, Sparking Zero, Mario Party, and Brotherhood at some point in the future.
Exactly. And it's hard to get certain people to play on a different console. Especially those people that really only play CoD and sports games.
Only reason I subscribe to game pass is because it's not that much more expensive than Xbox live gold (game pass core) if you use the conversion. A couple of weeks ago, I just renewed for 2 years (and 1 month) by buying three 12 month gold subs (45$ on sale) and one month of game pass ultimate (20$).
Total cost was $45 * 3 + 20 = 155$ for 25 months of game pass ultimate (or $6.20 per month)
Only reason I play on Xbox at all is because I have friends ...
Was his sarcasm not obvious? Looks more like he was taking a jab at the astro bot controller. Which is a bad take.
This game was good enough to make me put down rebirth.
When 3ds weren't selling, they dropped the price and included 10 gba games and 10 NES games for early adopters.
That price drop was permanent and came within the first year of its launch due to low sales. While 3ds never went on to be a huge success, that move likely went on to prevent it from an early grave.
Some of us play video games to escape reality. Too much realism will not appeal to us. Most importantly for me, is that I need games to respect my time. Padding for the sake of padding is not worth it for my limited gaming time.
Nintendo is mentioned as well in the article.
Nope, Luigi is destined to stick with mansions.
If we're going to be pedantic, no man's sky has only been around for 8 years.
Fallout 76 is popular now too 10 years and numerous patches later. So it's possible.... though unlikely.
Broke ass people are the ones buying the games or trying to play them for free?
Such a weirdly specific expectation.
Is.... that not how new game+ normally works?
Millions...... and millions.....
"Let's look at it this way, please explain to me how Microsoft is encouraging people to buy hardware by expanding their subscription service to more options than before and releasing all their games on PC. How does that support consoles? How does it encourage people to buy the hardware? How is that not giving people more options to not rely on hardware to play their games?"
Releasing game pass on other services isn't about selling more consoles. It's a...
Xbox will probably end as a console, but not because of an app on smart TVs.
Because of the lack of exclusives.
Because of the lack of 3rd parties releasing games for it.
Because they are slowly going 3rd party themselves.
Won't be long before they pull a Sega.
I don't think a new console will help them. After this gen, a new console would likely sell less than a Series X. Their best bet would be to launch a native handheld with specs that are at least equal to Series S and capable of playing all games available on the series consoles.
