It's not a matter of memory cards getting smaller and even getting a greater capacity. The CD, DVD and even Blu-ray disks are what is called a passive media and are very cheap to mass produce in comparison to memory devices or cartridges if you will.
Game developers always go for the option that will save them money and at the moment cartridges are not an option.
Digital downloads are an option however you better have a reaso...
Yes you are right and incredibly wrong at the same time.
You can get flash drives fairly cheap now such as say 16GB for say $15~$30 depending on speed. There are even 1TB flash drives however you are going to pay for them.
Without boring everyone with Bluray (BD) specs, currently commercial quantities of BD can be 25GB and 50GB which is adequate for most modern games. Also compared to the equivalent flash drive BD's are so much cheaper and that is one of ...
The battery looks similar to the one you can put in the DS3 and you can get the 1800mAh one for about the same price.
What you do need to know is the dimensions of the battery and if it is the same as the DS4's 1000mah battery then it is just a drop in replacement. The voltage of controllers appears to be the same which is 3.70V (DS3) and 3.65V (DS4).
There is a problem though. It is always "buyer beware" since you need to be confident that the ...
@Sureshot
The XB1 is "the only console capable of true multitasking."
Do you even know what multitasking is? The PS4's operating system is based on OpenBSD which is basically Unix and BSD Unix has been around for over 40 years and was designed to be a multitasking OS from the get go.
Any multitasking OS can run jobs in the background as well as the foreground as well as allowing specific priorities and control. Unix and it's...
At launch of the PS3 what was taken as arrogance on the part of Sony was really a joke, but then again many especially the Media did not understand Japanese humour and satire which if they bothered to take the time can be very sophisticated.
As for price well yes it was expensive compared to the XBox360 but it did have features that the XBox360 did not have such as a Bluray player, a hard disk and HDMI which the XBox did not have at the time.
Compared to what and when?
The PS2 popularised the DVD player in the same way the PS3 popularised the BD player.
Going back to the launch of the PS2 in 2000, DVD players were not cheap, in fact they were 50% or more of the price of the PS2 which also had the added advantage in that it could play games.
If you enjoy your XB1 games then I don't have any issue with that.
As for myself I don't have a PS4 for a variety of reasons and cost is not one of them, however I do have a backwards compatible PS3 and over 100 games some of which I have not finished.
Will I get an XB1? Well no and it not because of price it is just that the majority of games I like are on the PS4 which I will get at a later date. Possibly this holiday season, maybe.
Personally I like action/Adventure and/or RPG's and that also includes JRPG's turn based, active turn based and even action.
I do like the PS4's line up in my preferences over the XB1's but at the moment I have not purchased a PS4 mainly because I have a huge backlog of PS3 games as well as many PS2 games which I still enjoy playing on my BC PS3.
Exclusives to me are an enticement but when you like games that can take many tens if not hundreds...
You are right "war" is really a bad word to use since it implies death and destruction on both sides. Why not call it a "donnybrook" instead :-)
>> Cloud could be done if Sony had people that knew how to use it, and they spent the next 5-10 years building it.
The so called "Cloud" has been around over 30 years and is still dependent on the infrastructure between the user and the server(s), of which neither Microsoft or Sony own. Do you honestly think that Microsoft has a monopoly on hardware and software developers, please take off your rose tinted glasses.
As for cloud servers, lets s...
Err the PS4 does not use DirectX for gaming. As for Windows 10 that is a Microsoft operating system.
I already have BC for my PS3 in that I can play PS1 (all PS3's can do this), PS2 and PS3 games. If I want to play a PS4 games I have to purchase as PS4. This is no more different than keeping your XBox360 and purchasing an XB1.
Sure if BC was made available day one many XBox360 owners would have traded their consoles in and possibly kept their old games, b...
Well that aren't many projectors with that size and those specs for that price.
No one is forcing you to buy it unlike a certain peripheral that we were told was fully integrated and could not be removed so you had to buy it whether you wanted to or not.
The PS4 can't run "Crackdown"? Well you are right since Microsoft owns the rights and I can't see that game coming to the PS4.
Now if you said the PS4 can't run a game like "Crackdown" I would have to disagree with you since the so called "Cloud" is dependent on the performance between the player and the server just like I it was over 30 years ago when I knew the "Cloud" as Remote IT Services.
Can Sony do th...
I basically got the PS3 day one mainly because it had backwards compatibility although over time that becomes less of an issue except for a nostalgia trip.
I still have over sixty PS2 games that I like to dust off every now and then. On my BC PS3 a PS2 game looks more like an up-scaled DVD, sure you can pick the difference but the display even on a large screen HDVD is still good and the game-play has not changed.
If the PS4 had BC even for PS1 and PS2 games ...
Microsoft does have huge money reserves but ultimately they are responsible to their shareholders and those people want to see profits.
There is still allot of third party games available for the PS4 and the XB1 and it seems if sales are any example that gamers prefer to play them on the PS4 rather than the XB1.
Sure Microsoft might be able to decrease the gap in the USA this year (they only have to beat approx 800,000) and possibly the UK although that is debatable now. As for the rest of the world not a snowballs chance in a lava field.
As for "The Order" flopping well approximate...
I don't have any issues with a Resident Evil remake especially 1, 2 and 3 although I did like Codename Veronica. RE4 which I did like as well was really an Action/Adventure shooter in comparison.
What I really liked about the RE 1/2/3 series was the satire on 1950's B garage horror movies, but IMO the most important part was survival horror with limited ammo and puzzle solving. Even a deviation in the story while keeping to the spirit of the RE series like RE1 on the ...
Actually overheating in the PS3 is easily fixed. Just open the machine up if out of warranty and replace the thermal paste. You can do this on PC's as well if overheating is a problem. Total cost less than $5.00 for a small tube.
If you don't know how the Internet is your friend.
No some people are just dishonest.
Basically he lied to the store hence "fraud" although the "stupid" award should go to the store.
While all PS3's can play PS1 games only the first release PS3's can play PS2 games.
It is possible for software to be developed for the PS4 to allow for PS1 and PS2 backwards compatibility however it might be much more difficult to do the same PS3 games unless they were ported.
