Backwards compatibility is great a the start of a console generation and does sell consoles, however BC two years into the life of the console while a nice feature is not a console seller.

Do you honestly think that if I purchased an XB1 that I would go out and purchase a previous generation's games? BC is fine if you already have previous generation games and you sometime play them for nostalgia.

I won't deny that some people will purchase the odd la...

Since the majority of HDTV's can display 1080p it is no surprise that this current generation consoles would support up to that resolution.

4K or UHDTV's are fairly new and will most likely be superseded by 8K when they become available this year, however it won't be until the next console generation that higher resolution support becomes available.

If you do have digital downloads against your name, leave that name as your master and attach your new name to that account. As for trophies I guess you do have your work cut out for you.

That's strange I have never played Bloodborne (PS4 only) or The Witcher 3 (PS3. XB1 and PC) on previous gaming platforms.

As for playing previous generation games well that's the player's choice and no one is forcing them.

My PS4 actually integrates really well with my Desktop PC set-up and if I want I can easily move the little box to my living room and connect it to my large screen HDTV in about a minute.

Well they could have US$400 for the PSVR plus a demo? game and depending on the bundle the cost will go up.

It must be noted that the PS3 PSMove is supported by PSVR and you can get them fairly cheaply. If you are going to get one then I do recommend, although not essential the "navigator" unit as well. Of course depending on he game you may not even need the PSMove.

The Camera is essential for PSVR head tracking.

I realise that this may come as a shock to you but North America is not the only country on this planet and there are many more millions that have a first world lifestyle.

Do you have a problem with your "Cap's Lock"?

@Waluigi_isunderrated

A display device is a necessity for any personal computer, it not an accessory.

If you are seriously into gaming and winging about paying US$400 being a serious investment then I would seriously consider not playing video games.

Why do you think that?

Buy any computer and a console is still a computer you still have to get a display device be it TV or monitor.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who don't mind spending big on a computer and yet try to spend as little as possible on a display device.

Just on interest (you don't have to answer) how much did you pay for your HDTV or UHDTV and what size is it?

Yes a 4K GSYNC monitor is nice however can it do what a virtual reality headset can do?

Obviously if a VR headset makes you dizzy then VR is not for you so stick to standard display devices.

I would assume the price was in US dollars. The are many countries that have the "dollar" name as their national currency.

What you are getting with a VR device is actually a smart display. All computers and consoles are computers need a display device for viewing information and that is normally a video display device.

Yes you can get displays (TV's and Monitors) that are cheaper than US$400 but they don't have the capabilities of a VR device. In fact even displays costing many thousands can't do what a VR device can do.

That said I would always recommend that the pe...

Don't blame the software engineers it is management pure and simple that for some reason won't give the go-ahead for game folder implementation.

What is stranger is that there are other folders that can have quite a complex structure and a customizable game folder even one like the PS3 is not that difficult to implement providing management says "yes".

As someone who over the course of many years has attended many top level management meetin...

-Custom arrangement/folders for XMB

This is number one for me and one that would be very easy for the software developers to implement providing they were given the go-ahead by management.

You can use voice commands to navigate since every PS4 controller has a voice/headphone jack and the PS4 actually ships with a simple voice/headphone device.

The problem with voice commands is that you have to remember what game you want to start and say th...

Redesigning an entire OS? Do you even realise what is entailed here.

There is nothing wrong with the OS which is based on a Unix kernel (BSD) that has over 45 years of on going history.

What most people think is the OS is really the interface which can be graphical or command line. Basically it is the interface that needs to be revamped.

The problem with graphical interfaces is that they are subjective in that while the design team may think ...

Yes me too but unfortunately I have been sidetracked by The Witcher 3. When you play on hard (ie Blood and Broken Bones!) you end up dying allot (well I did) which sort of reminded me of Dark Souls even though they are totally different games. Surprisingly TW3 and BB do have similarities in fighting since they do require you to be fast, dodge, run and use tactics.

Bloodborne IMHO is an excellent game and I am going to have to start from the beginning again. It does appear to ...

Actually The Witcher 3 had a 15GB patch and Bloodborne had a 9GB one. At least Dragon Age - Inquisition had a 5GB patch. Fortunately I do have cable and unlimited download from my ISP.

Personally I do prefer the media over a digital download and on the PS4 you can be playing within 5 minutes rather than wait for a 30~50 GB install.

Still I do have to admit that all of those games are really nice when displayed on my IPS monitor or my 55" HDTV (my wife h...

I have a pure Linux (Fedora 23) distribution on my PC and installing Origin or Steam is a snap. Not only that when updates are available my repository knows and I can upgrade accordingly, either automatically or manually (preferable) and either by command line or by graphical interface.

Yes it is very difficult typing "dnf install steam" on the command line or if you have a Debian Linux distribution "app-get install steam". Of course you can use a GUI (thi...

If a person is truly interested in PC gaming they should also invest in a mechanical keyboard and proper?? gaming mouse both of which are an added but worth it expense.

You also have to make a decision on if should you go for wired or wireless keyboard and mouse and I do know that many serious PC gamers prefer wired however a decent (subjective) wireless K&M is just as good but slightly more expensive.

Depends on what type of gaming you like

A 144Hz monitor is great for games that have rapid movements such as FPS's and Racing. RPG's on the other hand are usually fine from 30 fps and higher and an IPS monitor can display stunning colours.

Note: I have my PS4 and PS3 hooked up to my IPS monitor and a game like The Witcher 3 looks great. Even if I put my PS4 on my 55" 200Hz 3D (hardly ever use this feature) HDTV which takes a minute to switch The ...
