The most you could hope for is software emulation for playing PS1 and PS2 games although that can be done now for selected games but only via digital download which you have to pay for. It would be nice if we could put our original PS1 and PS2 game disks in and be able to play them via emulation.
I don't hold out much hope for a PS3 emulator though.
Still IMHO backwards compatibility and/or software emulation is great at the beginning of a console gen...
Well, I kept my backwards compatible PS3 so there is not problem playing PS2 games and all PS3's can play PS1 as well as PS3 games.
As for PS4, I also have PS+ (pray tell me what do I need PSNow for?) which I can also use for my PS3 and I have saved quite a bit of money on some of the specials that have been available for PS+ members. In fact, the amount I have saved in just four months is much greater than the cost of my PS+ subscription and even if I decide to not ren...
Hmm interesting! So you put illegal ROMS on Microsoft's OneDrive. I wonder how long before Nintendo comes out with litigation and if they do guess who's first in the firing line?
You would be much safer side loading from a USB stick although you should know that Microsoft's Windows 10 by default does monitor the user. You can turn off allot of features on a PC running Windows 10 however I doubt you can do that much with Windows 10 on the XBox.
Look at it this way how much would you be willing to spend on a decent sized HDTV that is has a refresh rate of at least 120Hz and has an OLED screen?
As for people getting physically sick playing the PSVR.
Have you every looked at the screen when the PS4 or even the PS3 is started? There is a health warning that puts the onus on the player in that if they suffer screen related issues they should not be playing. If you are one of those very few people who do suffer from some for of epilepsy or motion sickness then you should not be playing.
I have always said PSVR or VR in general, is something you shou...
Well said.
There is a format war going on at the moment and it concerns the "high dynamic range" or HDR implementation for 4K TV's. For those people who already have a 4K TV or are thinking of getting one, the following URL is a worthwhile read. http://www.cnet.com/au/news...
Personally, I am going to play the "Wait and ...
@Cueil
Sorry but "cloud computing" is marketing speak. When I learnt about the so-called "cloud" back in the early 1980's we called it "Remote IT Servers" or to put is more simply "Another person's computer". Even today the basics have remained the same.
Hasn't this already been done? http://www.pcworld.com/arti...
Believe it or not but the Dual Shock 3 and 4 both have motion sensing although only a few games do support this and of those that do even fewer actually get it right. Even on the DS4 there are games that support the touchpad (eg. The Witcher3, Gravity Rush Remastered and Child of Light) although most allow you the option of other control and usually clunkier means.
You are quite right some phones are touted as having 4K screens except for one slight problem. The human eye cannot decern much more that 300 dpi and would be hard pressed to tell the difference between 1080p and 2160p at those screen sizes. Of course, it is a different story when you have larger screen sizes.
However, even this gets complicated in that overall screen viewing depends on many factors such as screen size, screen form factor, screen resolution and the viewing ...
Well, it would work for certain people but would you as a parent be that keen on getting one of these for a child. The 3DS is fine although this begs the question on how many are actually lost or damaged and having detachable controllers hmm!
@MrSec84
Sitting down the display and just playing with the controller sounds fine until you really think about it. You definitely would not do this on a train or even in an office waiting room, in fact, the only pla...
@Juiceid
I would definitely check out the specifications of your 4K TV. It should support HDR10 at the very least. Dolby Vision HDR may work but I would definitely check this as well since it is a competing format.
It is also important to make sure your TV supports HDMI 2.0 minimum and you will have to make sure that the HDMI cable is 2.0 or better as well.
Here are a few URL's that may help or confuse. Personally, I would adopt the...
I finished the main story mission but those challenges can be really tough, although it is not that difficult to get a gold win, it's a different story when you try to compete against some of the top world winners and sometimes the difference between someone coming in at 1/20,000 to 1/15,000 can be a few hundreds of a second. Of course, you can also compete against your friends as well.
Even though the challenges are optional it is well worth doing them since winning ex...
All FF games have their plusses and minuses and FFX is an excellent FF game, however like most FF games it is basically "on-rails", has random encounters and is turn-based only although you could and should switch your characters during a fight. Many previous FF games had optional active turn-base which takes away allot of the grind.
I do think most people remember FFX with nostalgia (nothing wrong with that by the way) since it was the first FF game that came to ...
Well, those same hypocrites did condemn both Microsoft and Sony for not making the XB1 and PS4 backwards compatible. It was only two years later that Microsoft brought in emulation for XBox360 games which basically was a little too late.
Backwards compatibility by hardware or software is a nice value add-on to the console but for many gamers, it is not essential. However, it only sells consoles at the start of the generation, not two years later.
That assumes you are going to buy or rebuy all those retro games since the NX will not support NES, SNES, N64 cartridges or the Gamecube, Wii and WiiU disks.
I had my hopes up for the NX but Metroid and Zelda are not enough to make me consider getting that console.
All the above were PS1 games and they will also play on the PS2 and all PS3's. The main problem would be if you have the original game disks or you can get the digital copy normally reserved for those with a green parrot on their shoulder. 😉
Not sure if there were remasters made of any of them.
Well, PC's started it.
Have you ever heard of World of Warcraft or Ultima online just to name two?
Mine broke in the fold joints (still worked though) after eight months but I did get them replaced under warranty.
@Alexander1Nevermind
If my replacement breaks again I will get the Pulse Elite and they do sometimes sell cheaper when on special which is usually once or twice a year.
The pictures are only stills but nevertheless pretty good.
In the article, they do mention Simon Barle's implementation of Hunter Dream from Bloodborne. For those that don't know, there is an animated version with appropriate music. See https://www.youtube.com/wat...
For me, that is showcasing the Unreal Engine 4 but there are plenty of really good UE4 demonstrations, how to...
