How can the Scorpio be the most powerful console when it has not been released and won't be released for a year after the PS4 Pro release which will be 10th Nov 2016 and will retail at $399 USD?
I suppose we could call the Scorpio or whatever Microsoft decides to actually call it the most powerful paper spec's console to date, but without a release date and price that is all it is.
Please show me a standard TV that supports 1440p?
Terrific! now give us the parts breakdown and the cost.
Don't forget the price of the OS unless you are using Linux or have a green parrot on your shoulder. Windows 10 is free if you already have a Windows 7 or 8.1 license although it is not shareable so you are supposed to pay for it if you build your own.
Another thing most people tend to forget is the monitor which they always say is not needed since they can use their TV (console to PC comparison)...
Basically, if you upgrade the motherboard you normally upgrade the CPU and possibly the memory which are the main upgradable components of any modern Desktop PC. Storage devices can normally be kept although it is always a good idea to check the performance of your storage devices and replace them if you notice allot of errors.
Laptops and tablets have very limited upgrade potential compared to Desktops.
Actually, I was wondering when someone was going to come up with an article this.
Most serious PC gamers don't care and are quite willing to pay for what they consider the best and know that consoles are built to a price that is acceptable to the general public.
Now all you need to do is "git gud" and then "git bttr". 😉
Those Chalice dungeons are great fun to play from what my son has told me "The Old Hunters" DLC is a real shock for those who think that they have "got gud" and let's not get started on NG+.
Currently playing "Lords of the Fallen" (free for PS+ members). This is a pretty solid game but make sure you save regularly since you can get cra...
Well, I hardly ever used my Bluray drive on my PS3 and never PS4 to play movies so the Pro having a Bluray drive instead of a 4K Bluray is not a big deal for me.
Will I get a Pro? Well no! my reasons being 1) I don't have and am not that interested in getting a UHDTV (4K TV) and 2) I predominately use my monitor for console gaming since my wife enjoys the HDTV in our lounge and I can switch between my PC and PS3/PS4 at the touch of a button. I will admit that the pric...
I assume you are talking about aspect ratio which is "the ratio of the width to the height of an image or screen".
For most (not all) TV's and monitors sold today their aspect ratio is 16:9 which is sort of an industry compromise over all of the other aspect ratios. This is why you will see black bars when displaying an image that has a different aspect ratio than the screen you are displaying the image on.
For more information read the fol...
Yes and no is probably the best answer for that.
Choosing a display that will complement your console is no simple matter especially when you have to consider refresh rate, HDR (should be HDR10 for the consoles), latency, size of screen, type of screen (ie. flat or curved), distance your face will be from the screen when you are sitting down and other features such as inputs (ie. how many HDMI connections).
While I won't deny 4K is sort of the future ...
At least they did use a 1080p display to compare.
In the first gif set (PS4 top and PS4Pro bottom) the clouds are crisper but unless you are a compleat graphics whore the PS4 images are still very nice.
Does this make me feel like I want to get a Pro? Well no although the detail from the Pro appears a little crisper. When you are playing a game with allot of things happening graphics can enhance the experience but what is more important is the gameplay a...
From the article:
"The only other difference is that the new DualShock 4 can transfer data over USB as well as Bluetooth. That's not going to have a huge impact, but it coud make connecting one to a PC"
I can actually connect my original DS4 to my PC (runs Linux not a Microsoft OS) via USB and all the buttons and triggers do work correctly although they can be remapped if I choose.
Unless you have a ROM copier and receipts for all the games you own you will have downloaded all those ROM images "illegally". Personally, I would not want to push the issue in a court of law.
If you think Nintendo can't get information off who is using their ROM's on the emulator, read the Windows 10 EULA and be afraid, very afraid.
>> Microsoft hits it out of the park again.
Yes if Microsoft hit it out of the park . But you are supposed to hit the ball between first and third base, other than that it's a foul and does not count.
>> If they keep this up I may pick up a Project Scorpio.
Enjoy your 14 month wait.
>> Sony has been very arrogant lately
You are not aware of Windows 10 aren't you?
Well it is your money and a huge screen is great for shows and movies but if you have read some of the comments it is not that great for some games where latency can be a real annoyance. You have a web connection do some searches on the matter.
Well PS4's can play a variety of 1080p @ 60fps games so there should not be a problem there.
Having a 4K TV is nice but not really necessary especially if you are into "twitch" or FPS games. For those type of games, you are better off with a gaming monitor (they are reasonably priced although they do suit desk mounting).
If you consider 4K with HDR then it pays to be informed since it is not that simple especially since there are two competi...
For the living room, I would recommend an affordable large screen TV but before you buy do some homework.
The following URL's may help. http://www.build.com.au/wha... (easy informative read) and https://carltonbale.com/108... (more technical but still an informative read) or you can do a web search.

My PC monitor has two HDMI ports so I can switch between my PS4 (sometimes my PS3) and my PC in seconds at the touch of a button.
I do agree that a higher refresh rate is preferable such as the ones you recommended (ie. 120Hz and 144Hz), however, my monitor is IPS and can easily display video at 60fps and the colour (the spelling is right for me) almost jumps out at you. Even playing games like Doom (PS4 version) look fantastic.

And there is a major problem with that and the key word is "family".
The problem you find in the family or lounge room is that the TV is there to share so if you want to play a game and other members of your family want to watch a show or movie then there will be a conflict of interest. Even if members of your family want to play a game they may not want to play the same game as you.
The cheapest solution is to get ...
I was expecting the "Neo" now the "Pro" to have a UHD Bluray player but in many ways that would only appeal to people who want to purchase and play UHD Bluray movies not gamers who would be quite happy with normal 50GB Bluray for game media or digital downloads and possibly the odd 4K movie that can be streamed from a content provider for considerably less than what it could cost for a 4K Bluray movie providing they had a decent internet connection and plan that allowed th...
You are right with regard to HDR since that is a feature of 4K TV's.
Sony will provide a firmware release to allow HDR (it will be HDR10 not Dolby Video HDR) on all PS4's coupled with changing the HDMI 1.4 port to HDMI 2.0. See the following http://arstechnica.com/gami... . Ars Technica is a technical web site and the article may...
