This is such a dog whistling comment lol

I think most of this stuff is because of budgetary constraints, especially the one continuous open world and gun/enemy variety issues.
Hopefully their next game with more money behind them will let them unleash a bit more as I'm sure they can do it.

Glad someone said it. It isn't a bad game but definitely overrated. The internet tends to under and over rate things a lot, a considered opinion is generally frowned upon these days.

From the reviews I've read it is a self contained game and doesn't end on a cliff hanger. Just buy and enjoy the game for what it is, it shouldn't matter to your enjoyment of this game if a sequel that may or may not materialise ends up on the PS or Switch. It's just a tribal mind game you are playing on yourself.

It's very enjoyable. Forgettable story much like 2 but they have put all the emphasis on exploring and tombs with much larger hubs than the previous two games.

Graphics are astounding especially if you play it on the X or Pro. It changes up the gameplay too with an extended mission set when Lara is a child at Croft Manor which is very inventive. If you thought the previous two were too combat heavy for you and you wanted more Tomb Raiding and you like amazing graphics ...

Story wise it was probably the worst of the 3 but only slightly worse than 2 which was pretty bad. Gameplay wise I thought it was the best as it went back to exploration and puzzling over combat and the graphics were near the very best modern games have to offer.

MS needs a couple of good Japanese studio which would go a long way to showing to the Japanese they are serious about the Japanese market. At the end of the day though western audiences are far more open to Japanese games than Japanese are to western games so that by itself is quite the hurdle to get over.

Yes, I think Judgement was graphically the most beautiful of the pre-Coalition games but the way the missions and story were structured was pretty bad and took away a lot of the enjoyment.

Really the open world is not an open world, it's just an excuse to use your skiff to get to more arenas that we know and love or occasionally to pick up some components or collectibles. Of course if you don't like seeing the sights skiffing around then you won't like it but I enjoyed the break which changed it up a bit.
I also like the inclusion of the breaking ice which added to the puzzle nature as well as the jack like robots which generated shields for the enemies.

I got 2 years of Game Pass Ultimate free because of all the Xbox Rewards points I had accumulated just by buying a few games online, getting achievements and a doing some 2 minute surveys about Xbox online. Hell of a deal.

I know it's not going to happen but I would love to see another Myth game from them. It doesn't have to be a RTS as long as it's in that universe.which I always felt was under served even though we got 3 games.

I always though CRT's gave a better picture but if you had a 65' monitor it would probably have a 6 foot clearance at the back and weigh the same as a small truck so unfortunately we had to move to LCD/LED flat screens as they got bigger.

I really enjoyed it and thought the differences they introduced with the train and different biomes pushed the series ahead. Sometime the shooting mechanics were a bit clunky, which is a hall mark of the series imo, and the middle desert section a bit aimless outside of the main missions but overall a really good game that any fan of first person games should play. Looking forward to their next game and the expansions for Exodus.

No, it was middle of the road. Whacky humour and some interesting guns but the traversal system sucked and the story was non existent. I would give it a 6 out of 10, not terrible but not good either. I think Insomniac would do a lot better sticking to another Spiderman game. They seem to do better when they are heavily directed by a publisher.

Totally agree, it was universally seen as mediocre aat the time and I have not met anyone irl who enjoyed it but somehow it is held up there as a shining light of excellence by many. I played it and was bored though I thought the large open city was colourful but that was about it.
Spiderman on the other hand was the game that put Insomniac on the map, all their other games are pretty mediocre imo.

I would expect texture work would have to be a lot more detailed in first person as you are naturally a lot closer to it than 3rd person and you can get away with less anisotropic filtering in 3rd person due to a higher viewing angle. Also the only extra animation you have to do in 3rd person is the player character, every other character has to be animated in both. Camera issues are a problem in 3rd person games agreed but writing an algorithm to cope with the camera is not a big deal especi...

It was the same with Borderlands 2 and it was really annoying. The obvious solution to levels without defined "floors" would be to have a map like the latest Doom where you can rotate the map and see if something is above or below you, I was hoping B3 would have solved this problem but from the gameplay I have seen it just looks like they just kept B2's mapping system.

The music in this game is superb even if just taken by itself. Deserves to be at the top of the Jazz charts.

How does a readers extended comment from an obscure web site get voted on to appear on NG4?

I've had this bug as well as the collectible bug and the component bug and the missions not starting bug. The collectible/component bug is the most frustrating as I doubt I will go back to re-find them. I had the same cloud save bug with RDR2 that put me back 2 whole chapters so not as bad as that but still annoying. I feel they may have rushed the release date a bit and the testing wasn't as thorough as it should have been.

Enjoying the game and the gameplay change...
