Giving free games is not bad at all. Paying for exclusives is.
I'm a fan of the first two games, so when Shenmue's Kickstarter was announced at E3, I thought it was incredible that they would finally finish the story, and made a pledge right then.
However, some time later Yu Suzuki said it still wouldn't be the end of the story. And after that, the move to Epic Games exclusivity happened. Then I got my refund.
After the game was released, the reviews said that it barely moved the plot forward at all. And ...
Well, as bad as the trilogy is, I actually finished all 3 games, while I could never bother to finish some of the most liked fan favorites like 7 and 12 (I finished every other numbered offline games in the franchise), so I guess they're not the worst...

I was excited about this game, but I was afraid they would take the worst aspect of RE2's remake, that was Mr. X, and make Nemesis a version of him that's even more annoying. From what I'm reading about the game, they did exactly that, making it the focus of the game... Now I'm thinking about waiting a few months until I can get a discount...
I will never buy an Xbox, but if they keep releasing their games on PC. especially on Xbox Game Pass for PC, I'll play some of their games.
For a moment I read "Circumspect" as "Circumcised", and asked myself "how do they know that?"
Not a single FFVII spin-off was good, so I hope Square pretends they don't exist.
Or if they want to do something with Crisis Core (aka the least bad of the bunch), at least remove the terrible slot-based mechanic.
To be fair, when you have a limited budget, I think it's better to focus on one platform. Mighty Number 9's creator said that making the game for all those platforms was much harder than he expected to, and it's one of the main reasons it got delayed so many times.
And I would guess that this was also the culprit for the low quality graphics, since they had to make it as low as possible to run in the weakest hardware of the list, with no budget to make additional models a...
The first two were so great, among the top RPGs on 16 and 32-bit era. I wonder why it went downhill after that...
I'd prefer they just had a normal HP system.

The worst thing about this game is that Yu Suzuki had this one chance of ending the series, and he developed it thinking he will be able to keep going into a 4th game, 5th or even beyond.
Shenmue never sold that well, and the 3rd one seems to be selling even less than the previous games, making the prospect of us having sequels slimmer. He should've taken this one in a million chance to give fans a closure to the saga, but according to reviews, the plot barely advances ...
I loved the first one, but couldn't get into the second one. I should try again.

But... it doesn't. Not in the least, actually. According to Yu Suzuki, the story of Shenmue is less than half complete, and it'll take a Shenmue 4 and probably a Shenmue 5 for the story to end.
