Please give me a technical explanation on how Series S will hold back games? I want to really know.

I am not sure why people think this is a launch game. Sony has provided no information that says that it is.
They have stated the Spider-man and Playroom are launch.
But, The R&C demos did not have any ship date on them.
It says DirectX RT.
I don't think it is hardware ray tracing like in Series X
Pricing will be important.... If the digital is a lot cheaper then the disc version then they won't be able to sell a lot of disc versions as a lot of people will abandon disc for anything over $75 difference. Sony took the safe path and just removed the drive and will sell it for the typical $50 cheaper probably.
I'm not on a budget.
But, this is an attractive price for any situation where you are playing on a TV that is less than 40". For me, I have a portable LED and case. Would work perfect in that situation. Also, have a secondary property with a smaller TV in a small living room. Again, good fit.

Almost every electronic has higher and lower end versions. And yes, parents and grandparents that don't do their homework get it wrong. Just like they do in every other electronic.
I am actually glad there is a true high and low end in consoles now. Gives us options and options are good.
All the nextgen consoles are disappointing in some ways.
The PS5 consoles look good but are absolutely massive.

I think the more important question is whether it will run next gen games at an acceptable level. I don't really care what the technical specs are if it can run next gen games.

I have an interest in cloud gaming to support my console and PC gaming. I look at it as "Just another way to play games". I prefer to play on my big screen TV with a console. Sometimes though I will stream or play from my den on my PC. And then other times I will be out and about and play via cloud streaming.
I will use the form factor that suites where I am and what is available.
One of the most logical comments I have seen on N4G in a long time.
Hating on games before actually playing them is one of the dumbest things a gamer can do.

Yes, I did say, "different environments quicker as witnessed with R&C Rift Apart" which equates to loading data in on the fly.
But, there are limitations because SSD is nowhere as quick as RAM. If SSDs were in the same ballpark as RAM there would be no limitations.

RAM is used to compute and process the game engine. The more RAM you have the smart AI can be, the more complex a game, and the more interactive a game can be.
The only thing SSD storage provides is the initial loading of the game engine and the game environment.
If SSD was as fast as RAM it could do a lot more and games could be infinitely complex and interactive. But, since SSD is so slow compared to RAM it is narrowed to just a fe...
People are really over-estimating the benefits of fast SSD.
I agree that fast SSD is good and is useful for gaming... It will make levels larger and allow things like loading in different environments quicker as witnessed with R&C Rift Apart.
But, SSD is still not in the same ball park as RAM memory speeds (448 GB/s on PS5) so they are still a long way from really providing what is needed for games long term. Making a sloth move 5 or 10 times faster...
This is a classic exercise where marketing is using their brand name and track record to sell the product rather then the product itself. Nobody in their right mind would pay $499-599 + $59.99 to play a spider-man game. They aren't announcing price because they know that it won't matter.
