No worse than Bugnax. LOL.
My question...
How is this different then cross-buy? Kind of confusing.
Ya, there are a lot of people that don't get that Sony has already made the major changes to PSNow.
I have the same concerns as these devts. But at the same time like the ID developer said, the target resolution will partially offset the lower specs. The question is whether it fully offsets or not. The ID developer doesn't think so. But, at the same time a lot of design and testing goes on for these consoles. You would think MS has done the homework.... But, then again, they don't always have a good track record in doing their homework.
I like the idea that ...
@masterfox
You don't want to go into detail because it you made up it is a mess.
From a game playing standpoint the only thing that the S cannot do is play games in native 4K. It upscales them. Now, there were two mid generation consoles released this current generation called the XBO X and PS4 Pro. PS4 Pro checkerboarded up to 4K a lot of times when XBO X was able to do 4K natively. Nobody had a problem with that as the differences are there but not really...
XBO X and PS4 Pro are no comparison to the S...
XBO X and PS4 Pro do not have:
Fast SSD
Hardware Ray Tracing
The next gen CPU
GDDR6 memory
The new controllers
Yes, the S is 1440p upscalable to 4K for games, but the next gen is defined not only by a 4K GPU. It is this other stuff too. CPUs, faster SSD, faster memory, ray tracing, and new controllers will all play a big role in next gen games. Just...
To me, both Sony and Microsoft exclusives are mostly pipedreams. Both companies lacked release windows in their presentations....
R&C Rift Apart, GT7, Horizon, Returnal, Demon Souls Remake, Avowed, Fable 4, Forza Motorsports 8, Everwild, etc. No explicit release windows for any of these games were stated in the showcases.
Mark my words.... These consoles ship and as with every other generation to date, we get a drought of games from console ship da...
@cornelis
That is ridiculous. What you are saying is that the only reason digital games are sold cheaper is that reselling physical games forces costs down.
There are two facts that kill the argument:
1) There are games that are distributed only digitally, if this myth were true these games would never drop in price. But, they do. So, since there is no resale market for these games how does that put these games on sale?
2) If your myt...
I am all digital and my gaming costs have fallen so I am not sure how factual your claim is.
Your doom in gloom is for the reality you live in, not the reality that is.
The S has me thinking but, at this point I am not going to the next gen consoles. Simply put there are a lack of really good games that require either Sony or Microsoft's console.
I will wait til further in the generation, when the internal drives get larger and there is a decent catalogue of games that require the next gen consoles.
It will be a cold day in hell for me to pay $200+ for a 1 TB expansion card.
So, I guess the PS4 at Wal-mart is a mess because it is 500 GB?
https://www.walmart.com/ip/...
Ya, it is supposed to be called Smart Delivery.
Ya, to me this is a huge problem this generation on every console configuration. I have bought digitally since 360 / PS3 days. So my total library of games exceeds 24 TB... Currently have two 8 TB and one 10 TB drive hooked to my XBO X and one 8 TB drive hooked to my PS4 Pro. How do I fit down to 1 TB? LMAO!
So does a console have to only be native 4K to be "Next gen"?
Please specify the industry agreed upon requirements to make a next gen console.
I don't buy GamePass Ultimate because of quantity. I buy GamePass Ultimate because:
1) I get all the Microsoft studio games day one as part of the subscription
2) I got to play a lot of great games from third parties not long after they shipped
3) I get PC versions of the games too
If I didn't buy GamePass I would've spent more money buying the games.
I also had EA Access separately but now that just adds ...
How is it "almost a current gen console"?
It has the new NVM SSD, it has hardware Ray Tracing, it has the full next gen CPU, It has the new controller, it has HDMI 2.1, it has GDDR6 memory, it will do up to 120 FPS. The only thing that makes this last gen is that its GPU is designed to give a 1440p upscaled to 4K experience rather than a full native 4K experience. Last time I check the GPU was not the only feature added this generation.
There...
I think S is targeting people that want to get to the next generation of games but aren't willing to pay $499 when they can pay $299 and get pretty much everything the generation has to offer.
$299 for what they are offering is reasonable. I don't think you can find any computer similarly configured for that price to play games. Even if storage is gimped $299 is an amazing price for a brand new generation gaming system.
PS4 launched with 512 GB ...
Sony definitely has its marketing down to a science.
They have people rabbid for a product that people don't even know the price of. And for one first party exclusive that the developers liken to Uncharted Lost Legacy and they showed about 30 seconds of gameplay for.
I am not saying that their product is void of quality and it won't be good. We know it will. PS5 looks to me to be a beast. But, frankly, I find it difficult to buy either console...
Between both Sony and Microsoft please list the massive list of all games in the launch lineup of this year that will not ship on current generation consoles. LOL. Neither console has even finalized their launch lineups.
