I agree that a console launch should not be dependent on any one game.
But, at they shouldn't be saying the launch had no dependency on Halo Infinite. That is like saying, "our new car launch wasn't dependent on the stereo being installed". Sure you might be able to ship to ship a car without a stereo, but who would buy a car without a stereo?
As an XB owner, I think they need to shut up about Halo Infinite not being at launch and tell...
Unless you have been living under a rock the past decade sales are going to be pretty obvious. PS5 outsells XB at least 5:1. I don't know why people keep being worried about the console sales (Must be insecurity or something). If you want to truly see console sales look at the Nintendo Switch.
If you consider Switch a last gen console there is a high likelihood it passes PS4 sales, If you count it as the first next gen system to ship there is no way either PS5 or XB ...
And you don't need an XBO X to play XB games either.
Console upgrades are becoming more and more optional. It used to be that consoles were upgrading to keep up with changes in user technologies... Better graphics because TVs got better, better sound because sound was better, better gameplay because games were getting really repetitive. etc.
Now, we are upgrading consoles because they have improvements to incorporate, but fundamentally, they do not ...

This year Microsoft studios and publishing has released Flight Simulator and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Both games are over 90+ on metacritic. They also release Gears Tactics and Wasteland 3 which are both 80+ games. And Minecraft Dungeons which is in the 70's and finally Bleeding Edge and 60's game.

Honestly... Every AAA game has outsourcing now-a-days. No AAA devt can do everything in-house, and in cases like this it can be done quicker and cheaper outsourced while the core team focuses on the core game elements.

Your comment is completely valid. But, I have found that if you have things that are well defined outsourcing to India or anywhere else for that matter can work well. If it is not well-defined then outsourcing is a train wreck.

Right now, how things look... I will do the following:
I have two homes and in those homes there are 9 TVs over 55"... Of those 9 TVs I have a gaming room with 2 large screen TVs and a myriad of consoles (I have gamed in every generation and have at least one console from every generation). So, I will get:
2 XSX and 2 PS5's for the gaming room
A XSS probably for every other TV (7 TVs)

USB-C That is just a preference. Lot's of machines still ship with no USB-C.
In the 360 and XBO era MS shipped the latest wifi and it really didn't make a difference when compared with PS3 and PS4 that often was shipping with one generation behind.

If they intend to ship 10,000,000 consoles in the time frame... That means there will be 167,000 on each of the 60 flights. Not sure you can pack that many consoles on a 747?

I agree with focusing on success with the studios they have.
But Asobo looks like a studio closely tied to them that would be a good acquisition.
Also, think they should do some shopping in Japan. Acquiring a big Japanese publisher and their studios would be a really good move I think (although next to impossible). Ideally Capcom or Square Enix - But really that is just dumb talk that it would happen.
