You do realize that gamers aren't just on Sony platforms right?
I do hope they continue to publish on PS4. But, really the major gamers that are weeping here are the ones that think the whole gaming world revolves around Sony.
There is an estimated 200 million PS owners out there... There is an estimated 2+ billion gamers. PS makes up about 10% of all gamers.
That is so wrong...
All MS first party games come to GamePass on Day One. And they will probably add Bethseda's entire back catalogue to GamePass.
Even if MS publishes Bethseda games on all their current platforms including PS, XB gamers win because they don't have to buy the games if they are on GamePass.
Finally, do you really think MS cares about whether you buy their games on PC or XB?
Sony doing an acquisition like this does not make sense.
First, Sony doesn't have the cash that Microsoft does to do an outright buy like this. It would be tough for them to buy any of these 4 publishers. Some might even have a higher market capitalization then Sony does.
Also, if Sony buys them and makes them Sony exclusive they would be paying to reduce the total revenue those companies have today. Again, even if Sony is half the revenues of these...
Microsoft's recent acquisitions have gone well. They are taking the approach of letting the developer studios develop the games with their own creativity and time. Look at the comments from any developers acquired and they are all positive.
Exclusives are stupid from a gamer's perspective, and this just made it more stupid. I hope MS breaks with console norms and continues to keep Bethseda cross-platform including PS and Switch.
Gamers should be united in wanting every gamer to be able to play every game.

You are assuming every gamer buys the Sony games when in reality that is about 20% Sony gamers (Ex. Spider-man has sold around 13 million copies to over 110 million console owners).
The reality is that 80% of Sony gamers just buy games like Fornite, Call of Duty, GTA V, Battlefield, Overwatch, FIFA, Madden, Apex, PUBG, Star Wars Battlefront, etc.

That or a key hole to open the back of the PS5. The location isn't near the other ports so it is unlikely to actually do anything. Putting a port there would add cost to the device. I am guessing that doesn't make sense for a next gen console that is already taking a loss probably.

There is absolutely zero proof that XSS is holding back this coming generation. There is also no proof that it won't hold back the generation.
At this point Microsoft has stated what developers need to do.... and that is, "Build for XSX, and then just downscale the resolution to 1440p for XSS". There is only one truly exclusive first party game shipping on either console this holiday... Destruction All-Stars. A title with next to zero gameplay shown to date and next to no one is bragging that PS5 has.

The primary driver for people new to gaming and parents is not what any given device can do. The primary driver is price. It is like buying for anything else... Why spend $100 or $200 more when you don't even know if the person your buying it for will stick with it.
It makes zero sense to spend anymore then you have to. Especially if you are told it will play all the games that the more expensive devices can. 4K, framerate, textures, ray tracing.... All this means...

XSS first has to prove that it is truly not going to hold back the generation and prove that it is a good alternative to the full consoles.
If they can prove that many gamers won't notice a difference and that it is not holding back the progression of the generation then it will start to sell good.

Yup... And Capcom should've just gave everyone a next gen upgrade through the PS Upgrade Program or Smart Delivery. Instead, Capcom will go and charge gamers yet again for this game.

Yup, GOTY this year will boil down to a competition between:
TLOU2
Ghosts of Tsushima
Flight Simulator
Cyberpunk 2077
And there is probably a 80% chance that Cyberpunk will be GOTY if it lives up to expectations.
Spider-man couldn't beat God of War so I doubt MM can beat any of those. Demon Souls looks pretty, but it also looks like the gameplay hasn't changed at all.

Quite simply you did not provide anything other than your opinion.
The truth is that there is no real definition of specs to define next gen. The test will be as time rolls on and we see whether devts complain about developing on XSS or not.
Also, I doubt that the next Nintendo console will be as powerful as XSS. So I guess that can't be next gen too. Looks like the only one that will support your next gen definition is Sony. ...

Every time Sony gets an exclusive Sony only fans march up and down the streets yelling at the top of their lungs about how XB and PC aren't exclusive and having a PS is the greatest thing a gamer can do.
