@Gwiz
There were only a handful of games that shipped broken on 360 last gen and I would call them insignificant in the overall process. The PS3 is a completely different story, but Sony allowed endless patching last gen, so that's what PS owners got... Every time I booted my PS3 it want to update everything it seemed!
But, since MS' change in policy BF4, AC Unity, and even Halo MCC shipped with significant issues.
If a AAA game was to ship...
The issue started when the poor lowly Fez developer released their game and it had game breaking bugs. They played themselves as victims and gamers bought it.
The reality is their testing was crappy and incomplete. But rather than man up and take pride in delivering their game, they walked away from their game on 360 claiming that it was too expensive to fix the issue because of MS policies.
Frankly, that is BS. Do you feel sorry for the manufacturer of a ...
DriveClub was delivered as an unplayable mess on Day One (I bought it day one)...
This game no longer deserves to be talked about with the quality of game that was delivered on day one...
By, continuing to talk about DriveClub in a positive way, gamers are encouraging this kind of development behavior to continue.
I disagree...
To me, there are two roots to the problem...
1) Developers plan their games well in advance. Trying to do too much in the time allotted is a planning issue where the developers over commit to what they can do. I have worked in software development for 20 plus years. Developers are great people but they are notoriously bad at planning what they can accomplish in a day/month/year.
2) Last generation MS had a policy where they l...
That is entirely not true. There may not be a solution to all DDoS attacks today. But, if these companies put more research and effort into it they can work to prevent them in the future.
It is like cancer. It was considered untreatable completely 50 years ago. But, since then there have been a number of treatments and prevention methods developed to reduce the ability of cancer to take people's lives. There is always a way. It may not happen in a year or two, but e...
@xHeavYx
So if they redirect the money they use to pay developers and publishers for free games to network security and stability that makes no sense? They probably pay $10's of millions of dollars per year to developers and publishers for the free games. That can buy a nice amount of infrastructure and security resources.
@u4one
The perks of the service is money they could redirect to stability and security.
Honestly, I would prefer both Sony and MS to stop free games in favour of stabilizing their networks against security risks.
Unlike many people on this site I do not have a ton of time to play games. And when I do the network needs to work.
So far, this generation the free games have amounted almost entirely to indie titles (with only a few exceptions). These games are less then $15 usually and drop to $7-10 during sales. Skip the games and give me sta...
@Cobra951
I don't see it as a minus. Just like fighting games are better with fighting sticks, driving games are better with steering wheels, and plane combat games are better with flight sticks.
Kinect is not trying to be in every game. It is in the games it does best. Dancing, virtual sports, and now D4.
There definitely is no rule saying they must match the other systems, but being different is not increasing their market share anymore. The Wii U sales are a fraction of what Wii was.
Nintendo makes great games. Everyone knows that. But, without a top quality online experience, basic features such as Blu-ray playback, a mandatory gamer profiling/trophy/achievement system, and solid 3rd party support Nintendo will not increase their following at all.
I like...
D4 is either Kinect or controller. But, the game actually plays better with Kinect.
I don't think so. Forza Horizon 2 is a better game, but I think that graphically, DriveClub is ahead.
That said, would you rather have the better game or the prettier game?
This game is a straight port with almost zero improvement. It should be 5 pounds.
VG Chartz is just a bunch of click bait....
All VG Chartz does is perpetuate the concept of console wars. That is the last thing we need on this site.
First, only about 35 million of a probably 250 million consoles have been sold this generation so far. So, there is plenty of consoles to sell and turn the numbers around.
Second, Japan accounts for less than 10% of consoles sold worldwide so losing Japan 20:1 is not a make or break scenario.
Third, in summertime the European gap was more like 8:1 so there has already been change in the numbers there. This is all about how far a console vendor can carry the...
I guess Namco Bandai on tumblr is an XBox fanboy (Even though it is their news page) - Story right after Godzilla the game:

And Gamespot is an XBox Fanboy?

The only fanboys seems to ...
Agreed. The trailer has poor resolution, but you can see that the game engine looks like a direct port from the previous generation with no real graphical improvements.
DriveClub should not be on the list. It probably had the worst launch of 2014, but the game is not a bad game at all.
I've said it with Morpheus and I will say it on this device. Just like things like Move, Kinect, the WiiMote/Nunchuk, and even the fighting stick, flying stick, and driving wheels, there will be certain games where this will become a must have to make the genre work. One example is probably the survival horror genre.
Also, many people game in the open family / home environment. Just like people view Kinect as flailinf around their living room, VR can be viewed as the e...
