@Godmars290
You have it wrong from the get go.

Games are "licensed" to users, consumers do not "own" their games. They are "granted a license to use" the game by the copyright owner which has the rights.

Like anything licensed the copyright holder has all the rights to say how the game is re-sold not the consumer.

And to me, it is not about whether a consumer can re-sell a game or not anyhow. To me, it ...

So, what does this have to do with his comments on Windows gaming? The most popular service on Windows gaming is Steam and it is entirely DRM based.

The PC is in the lead for DRM. It is only console gamers who are delusional that DRM is bad.

DRM is only bad if you want to trade games, rent games, pirate games, or have a poor internet connection. The first 3 of those items take money out of the hands of developers and publishers and give it to the according...

Capcom are doing these re-masters / ports right. They put out the full games at a discount rather than full price or near full price. You look at Indie games that are in the $20-25 range and there is no comparison to them and a game like DMC4.

DMC4 was another great game and it play for 10-16 hours in a single play through. well worth the bargain price to get 1080p and 60 FPS on the consoles.

It is dynamic to 1080p...

It is like the hatchback that says it can go 200 MPH... It can drive that fast, but people rarely take it to that speed because they know that they risking their lives at that speed. Hyper Cars on the other hand have no problem getting to 200 MPH and beyond.

I love my X1. But, currently, it does 900p most of the time in my opinion and I am fine with that. The difference between 900p and 1080p is negligible in my opinion. I have ...

How many games delayed as long as TLG have turned out to be great?

Maybe the reason they keep delaying it is because they can't come up with great gameplay.

As for the PS4. We all know that it is powerful. What we don't understand is whether the X1 will ever be able to equal the PS4. As the generation progresses the consoles seem to be getting closer and closer in capabilities. The first year X1 games were usually 720p. In the second year they mo...

Yep, because if you own only an X1 or PS4 you would go out and buy the other just to play a game that looks only marginally better on the other console.

Really, these articles are just beating a dead horse at this point. If anyone is uninformed as to PS4 achieving 1080p, X1 achieving 900p, and for that matter PCs achieving 4K+, they have been hiding somewhere between Saturn and Jupiter for a long time.

Why is no one asking to play as the Ewoks?

I completely disagree. Sony has not made any changes to its strategy through this generation so far. They have stayed with price, they have a large base of Indie games and have delivered first party games as Sony always does.

What is different is MS' changes... Focusing back to the gaming community, listening, evolving the game console OS, Windows 10 integration, and a solid dose of games since September of last year with MS also showing off a lot of content for holiday...

NPD is the only trusted source for US console and console software sales. They are just using NPD information.

As for Bloodbourne, it shipped in the last full week of March so most of its sales were there.

They didn't break MS up. They forced regulations on them...

Google and Apple are both monopolies as well. Once you spend a few hundred or thousand dollars in their online app/entertainment stores that same "switching cost logic" used to convict MS as being a monopoly can be used for iOS and Android.

4059d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

How are they a monopoly now? iPads and Android devices are everywhere.

They may have been in the 90's but they sure aren't a monopoly now. Their is plenty of competition in the OS market... iOS, MacOS, Android, Linux, Unix, etc and literally billions of devices run the OSes.

I think PS Now is a service that is too far ahead of its time. Looking back 10 years from now, people will probably say they had the right idea, but the ability of the internet to support it just is not there yet.

EA Access is great for today. I bought my EA Access subscription for $30. Bought Dragon's Age and BF Hardline at 10% discounts, and avoided buying the EA Sports 15 games that are all in the vault now (Madden, NHL, FIFA, UFC, and NBA Live). Downloaded them al...

PS4 - Ships great exclusives in spring, and average fillers for the rest of the year.

XB1 - Ships great exclusives in the holiday season, and average fillers for the rest of the year.

When is one of the consoles going to be strong for the full year?

Given that it looks like the same game engine with a different setting it had better work properly day one.

Doesn't matter anyhow, they lost any thought I had of future pre-orders when they released the bag of crap Unity.

If I do get it, it will be when it is cheap.

Pre-ordering is no debate for me anymore. I simply don't do it. I used to pre-order everything, but now I pre-order nothing.

Special thanks to BF4, AC Unity, DriveClub, and Halo MCC.

That is not necessarily true... Not necessarily false either though.

X1 is 900p, so it may be holding the framerate steady...

The expectation by most gamers on PS4 seems to be 1080p. So, developers may be trading off framerate to get 1080p.

The PS4 is massively outselling X1 in all the rest of the Europe. France, Germany, and Italy are also very strong for sales of racing sims and X1 is being outsold badly in those areas.

And in the UK, would you rather buy a first party racing sim (Forza) that has been out for two years, is stable, is 1080p/60 FPS, and has way more cars or would you rather by a racing sim just released by a third party (Project Cars) that is getting reports of serious issues/bugs, has a lower ...

PS4 has more consoles sold so it should have more sales on a racing simulator...

Driving sims are more popular in Europe where PS4 is even more badly outselling X1, therefore sales should be even more unbalanced...

The PS4 does not have a racing sim (DriveClub is and arcade racer), so PS4 driving sim fans will go buy this since there is no date for GT7 yet.

There have been negative reports on the X1 version of Project Cars. The resolution an...

And this is why first party and exclusive games are becoming rarer and rarer.

They are expensive to make and you only get revenue from the one platform.

What a fail...

What about Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Deadrising 3, Forza Motorsports 6, Killer Instinct, Neverwinter, Project Spark, Screamride, Titanfall, Zoo Tycoon, Kinect Sports Rivals, Crimson Dragon, and D4? Xbox One has delivered a great amount a variety of new retail games this generation so far that are not available to non-MS gamers.

Meanwhile the September - December timeframe will be flooded with Halo 5, Forza Motorsports 6, D4 Season 2, ...
