Bungie stopped serving their fans when they built Destiny.
I don't care how great the game is in other gamer's eyes, because fundamentally the game is about grinding and cost not about story, entertainment, and gaming innovation.
It is Bungie's cash cow on the way to their stated goal of world domination.
All they did was take the Halo engine and they turned it into a cash cow engine.
The choice of X1 or PS4 is about each individual's assessment of games and features are that are important to them.
Some gamers prefer Killzone to Halo, Some prefer Gears to Uncharted, others prefer sims and RTS to JRPGs and Indies.
The choice of one or the other is not ridiculous. The choice is about the value you are looking for from a console and where that value is.
PS4 does not beat X1 in every feature, nor the other way around.
@TwoForce
All I am saying is diversity is an interesting comment that I often see on this site when talking about the PS4.
It seems to be quantified by Indie and Japanese games and conveniently forgets about the simulation and RTS genres when talking about diversity. To me, diversity is inclusive of all genres.
And to me neither the PS4 nor XB1 consoles have full diversity. One only has an advantage over another in specific genres. While XB1 lac...
Actually, not at all.
If Japanese and Indies were my priority I would not have chosen XB as preferred gaming console.
So how many exclusive simulation and RTS games are on PS4?
Diversity is based on your gaming preferences.
I don't know how PS4 is going to stay ahead of PS2.
PCs are starting to get in the 4K territory for games and I think console sales are going to start being slower than previous years in 2016.
It will help that there will be a price drop and probably slimmer models, but, when you compare PC games to console there is starting to be a huge gap sooner than it was last generation.
It will also help that there will be a lot of new games in 2...
PS4 does have a lot of games!
And 99% of exclusive PS4 games are either Japanese or Indie. So, if Japanese and indie are your thing there is only one console to buy.
The new reality of gaming!
PCs get most every game, while consoles get a subset based on the console vendor.
This is by far the best controller I have ever used. I bought the Elite console for the hard drive and justified the extra cost because I got Fallout 4 free. Didn't think the Elite Controller would be anything special.
I was simply wrong. The Elite Controller is truly a special piece of hardware for any core gamer.
Does anyone know how well this game sold?
(No VGC quotes please. Just facts)
Some facts.
XB1 is outselling X360 worldwide by about 4 million consoles at the same time in the life cycle. And X360 had a year without any competition. XB1 has faired better even though the marketing at launch was horrible and it faced direct competition from the very start.
Wii sold 36 million consoles by the same time in the life cycle last generation. So, while people brag about PS4 sales (and VGC conveniently forgets about the Wii) the reality is tha...
You should get a bunch of trolling bubble downs for that comment. It makes absolutely no sense.
Halo, Gears Ultimate, Tomb Raider, Forza, and Rare Replay all are over 80% on Metacritic. I've enjoyed all of them and they are all quality games I wanted as an XB1 owner.
Forza is a game that sells a lot over time rather than the first few weeks. Tomb Raider will be the same. It started off with a solid week and as people finish games like Forza, Halo, Fal...
Each part had better be the size and scope of Witcher III and Fallout 4 if they are going to divide into multiple parts and charge for each like it is a full game.
I'm not discounting them at all.
But if NX is a failure it is hard to imagine a scenario where Nintendo makes another console.
Agreed.
Competition the last three generations has driven a lot of improvements and changes in consoles.
- Addition of DVD then Blu-Ray
- Addition of online networks and games
- Addition of achievements/trophies
- Addition of social features
- Addition of apps like Netflix
- A steep improvement in graphics
- Addition of more new IPs then ever before
- Competition on Backwards Compatibility
- Inno...
Nintendo has been in the "Console Wars" longer than any other console vendor. Talking about them on a article about "console wars" is always on topic.
Just because the writer does not mention them does not put it off topic.
For example, some people seem to really like bringing up Uncharted 4 when writers were writing about Rise of the Tomb Raider. I didn't see a lot of people call that as off-topic. Threads on N4G often bring up unm...
Microsoft bought mojang last September so minecraft sales would've shown up in last year's yoyo numbers.
If any console vendor has to worry it is Nintendo. A year older than X1 and PS4 but relegated to third place quickly with third party support all but dead.
Every dollar put into these deals is a dollar they could've spent for first party games.
Nice!
I do want to see the ratio of Retail to XBLA games become more balanced though!
