So why is this lame?
They just released a brand new racing simulator designed for the 4K console. And there are over 130 titles getting enhanced for Xbox One X.
Having a AAA arcade racer delayed until middle of January for 4K is not a big deal. You can still already play the game in HDR as it shipped HDR capable.
Ya they were sitting there thinking Forza Horizon 3 will outsell Forza Motorsports 7 every week so lets park development of our new racing simulator and working on last year's arcade racer.

This game is absolutely brilliant.
Been playing for hours and enjoying every second even though I get my butt handed to me a lot.
And others should stop blindly believe in PS.
You do realize that they don't know the exact number they can sell until the assembly manufacturers in the background tell them quantities for certain right?
They have a guaranteed quantity, and to start pre-orders... Based on demand for pre-orders they would crank up or down manufacturing. Then, they would get final numbers for shipment literally within a week of launch, and then release more stock if they have it.
This is all standard supply chain...

Why anyone would spend on microtransactions is beyond me. If the game doesn't give it to me I don't buy it. And if it forces me to abnormally grind I just drop the game.
In Forza Motorsports 7 I am progressing faster than in previous versions without having to do microtransactions.
And the fact it is released a year after PS4 Pro
Resolution has nothing to do with texture quality, draw distance, particle effects, etc...
In most videos I have seen, they seem to point that XOX can do more detail then PS4 in a 4K setting.
A simple chart of the running resolutions and framerates doesn't say anything to those.

A lot of people seem to think these corporations shift in their love to gamers. The reality is they are all corporations that exist solely for the purpose of making money. They will say whatever they all need to say to make money.

I don't think microsoft is marketing a 4k console to teenagers with little spending power.
They are marketing more to the millions of game/electronic enthusiasts more in their 40's that have the spending power to change over.
This comes up on every new console that is a substantial upgrade.
I remember on the PS3 people were complaining about games like God of War III being too large at 20 GB...
Then, when this generation started people complained about Halo Master Chief Edition topping 50 GB....
And now here we are complaining about 4K games at 100 GB...

I am not sure that really is a small market.
First, 4K TVs seem to be gaining traction. When you go to any TV store 4K TVs are prominent and they are selling well. They have a 20% market share which is way better traction then 3D got a few years back. Many fans brag about PSVR sales being good and they are less than 2% of the PlayStation sales. So having 20% market share is really good right now for 4K TVs.

I have the following principles in choosing whether to buy a game now:
1) I can pay one price and the price must be clear as to the full experience I get. Free of unnecessary grinding or pay to progress
2) There must be a campaign or story to the game
3) The game must be known as high in quality
Unfortunately, more and more I see this disappearing... Gamers are buying games more and more that don't meet these principles.
I don't remember any launch titles exclusives for PS4 Pro.
Netflix is not about whether it streams or requires downloading of massive files.
Netflix is about the availability of a massive library of movies for a low price.
Games as a Service is the same thing...

I think that you nailed the brilliance of Games as a Service.
It is not for core gamers that buy the games all the time. It is more for the casual gamers that buy a console but don't play enough to warrant buying $60 games.
Think about it. If I play only 6 games in the subscription paid per year it paid for itself. Buy Xbox Live Gold and Games Pass and you get to own 48 games a year (2 xbox one and 2 xbox 360 games per month) and have access to the...
Why is this so bad?
CoD and Destiny improvements on PC to 4K and such would not even get a second glance.
Rise of the Tomb Raider allowed 4K on PS4 Pro or 60 FPS... Everyone was fine...
But as soon as XB One X gets an improved version the Sony Defense Force starts to cry foul.
If there is power available, the devts should use it regardless of marketing deals. That is only fair to the gamers on each platform.

And they built a lot of good games. They just didn't get the sales to match the expense of building their games. It is a disappointment when any good developer gets shutdown.
And just because games like Outlast are good does not mean that everyone can build them on a shoe string budget.
