Molyneux was never someone I respected.

There are visionary people that can make things actually happen in games. To me, Cliffy B. is an example of that from his work on Gears of War. Things like the chain saws on guns, hammer of dawn, cover system, active reloads, etc. It was just a lot of really cool game mechanics in one game.

To me, Molyneux just dreamt but never really knew how to make things a reality. Fable is a good RPG series for XB, but, I...

I have an idea....

Let's make new games rather than re-masters 4+ years into the generation.

The first three years of a generation can be flooded with re-masters. And when I say re-masters I mean actually using the full capabilities of the current generation of consoles. Not taking the code and porting it to the current generation like Capcom is doing.

The next three years should be new IPs really showing what the current generat...

@AizenSosuke
I do agree that MS lacks game releases.

How they "acquire" (either by developing or buying them) I really don't care.

New IPs are not at all cheap. They are filled with risk. Often you setup a new studio for them, then you have to choose the idea, then you have to build it and at the same time market it.

The only one of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft that seems to do this well is Sony. Microsoft has been more successful funding third party developers then buying them... Halo was Bungie, Gears was Epic, Perfect Dark was Rare, Minecraft was Mojang, etc. etc. If you look at MS' bigges...

If PS4 doesn't have a better year there is something wrong with the way Sony is managing the lead they have amassed.

Ya on Xbox 360 the Fable II and III only sold 10 million copies in total.

It is obviously a very nominal franchise that no one cares about. /s

I love Burnout Paradise...

I am sick of re-mastered titles.

"Killing the Kinect was a horrible move"

Yup, because since Kinect was released a good 100% of non-Microsoft gamers and a good 75% of Microsoft gamers didn't like it much.

I thought Kinect was the best motion control on the market. But the issue was that it was only really good for a few scenarios... Dance games, Kinect Adventures, D4, and Child of Eden were pretty much the highlights from 7 years of Kinect.

I didn't even bother with Destiny 2 yet. Will wait for it to go cheap.

I like games with a true journey, campaign, and story. Destiny and now Destiny 2 is a poor excuse for all three.

It is like a lab rat game. Just keep going, leveling, and trying to find awesome loot. Then, when you are done they release an expansion to keep you in the lab rat game.

Bungie, once the top of the FPS genre... Now, they aren't even in the top...

@Eonjay
DF are not frauds. They have done a ton of console analysis and upon scrutiny it has been right time and time again.

Furthermore they have no reason to say anything negative about any developer. They just tell it like they see it. Now, maybe they were on an older version or some environment issue was happening during the testing.

This was a report card for 2017.

And frankly, Sony did very little this year except suck money from gamers. They had a nice selection of exclusive games, but their support for VR is slowly diminishing, the PS4 Pro pales in comparison to both the switch hardware (highly portable Switch) and Xbox One X (true 4K), and they brought very insignificant features to both the console firmware and network. I'd give Sony a C+ because the only thing going for them is a bunch of e...

Anyone that believes there is still a console war is living in the previous generations.

Microsoft is here to stay, Sony is here to stay, and Nintendo is here to stay.

They all compete but increasingly are being forced to compete together rather than dominate. PS4 sales are the strongest, but both Nintendo and Microsoft are running profitable gaming businesses so it the console war is a thing of the past. There is room for three console vendors.

I don't know why articles like this ever get written.

First, it implies that Sony is in trouble which they are not.

Second, what has happened with Xbox One X is good for the industry and gamers. Having a true 4K console means that Sony gamers will get one pretty soon as well. Competition is driving innovation of the hardware and that is good

That is an interesting comment that you provide no facts to back up.

On VGChartz it has PS4 hardware sales at 66 million, and Xbox One at 31 million. Software sales on PS4 are at 445 million and Xbox One software sales are at 211 million.

Which means PS4 has a 6.74 attach rate and Xbox One has a 6.80 attach rate per console sold

Given that everyone keeps on saying that Xbox One has no games, the number of purchases by Xbox One owners s...

Yes.

I have never heard anyone talk about the amazing story and characters in Destiny... All that is talked about is gameplay and grinding. Because that's what this game is really about.

Too many companies are concerned about eSports and $ rather than making art. I started gaming in the 1970's. Until a few years ago everything was about evolving the art of games, putting more in games, and making games the ultimate entertainment experience. ...

Yes, Sony has better and more exclusive games, but Microsoft continually keeps improving the cross-platform games so that they play much better on Xbox One S and X.

It is interesting to see how much support Microsoft continues to provide for its games.

Backwards compatibility keeps getting better and better. I bought BC as xbox originals on my 360. That license was honored when they return BC for original xbox games recently on xbox one.

BC for 360 titles keeps getting better and better with more titles and better BC.

Halo and Gears games on Xbox 360 recently got a "backwards compatibility u...
