Yes, it is probably at least 2019.

Sony has been developing the new GoW since 2014. That is after the story and idea. So, probably started in 2013.

Phil spent the first two years to 2016 cleaning up crap. So assuming 4 years in devt is what it takes for a 95+ metacritic SP game. We are looking at 2019 at the earliest and more likely 2020.

LOL. So why can't Sony run RDR at all on PS4 Pro? We won't even talk about 4K on the PS4 Pro.

As for RDR 2. I would not doubt that RDR 2 runs full 4K 30 FPS on XBX. Far Car 5 is able to do 4K so why would RDR2 not be able too? XBX has proven time and time again that it is capable of 4K for almost every game that actually tunes itself for XBX.

I agree but that takes time.

Don M. screwed this up.

Since then Phil has been re-jigging for first party titles.

I know Sea of Thieves isn't getting good reviews but at least they are trying now. Hopefully Crackdown 3 will be step in the right direction. Then, we will be due for some monster XB IP games in 2019 and beyond.

QTEs have been successful in Quantic Dream games, and action games like God of War, Devil May Cry, and of course the QTE heavy Asura's Wraith for boss battles.

Insomniac are really good at platforming/action games but there use of QTE is relatively unproven.

Personally, I am not against it, but the key to QTE like Spider-Man has to be something where success in the game is not highly dependent on it.

This generation of consoles have been disappointing. I have been consoling since the first generation and this generation can be described as the recycle generation. There has been more remasters, ports, and retro games then new games. 90% of indie games were already released first on PC.

And the new games have only been incrementally better than previous games. Worlds have gotten bigger in RPGs, Shooters are becoming more and more online, and adventure games are just of...

So what is going to happen if E3 2018 is no better than E3 2017?

The sky fall? they fold their gaming tents? What?

E3 2018 is not going to make or break MS and the XB One.

As with any year, if they do dumb things they will lose customers. If they do OK things they will retain their customers, and if they do exceptional things they will pick up customers. Chances of them doing dumb things is not high given Phil's performance sinc...

I wish people would quit living in console wars.

Microsoft is making money off gaming, Sony is making money off gaming, and Nintendo is making money off gaming.

Otherwise, one or more would've folded their tents and left by now.

Sony is no threat to Microsoft's businesses. Microsoft makes 10's of billions per year no matter what Sony does. Microsoft is no threat to Sony's business. Sony continues to ship and make mone...

LOL.

XB has never been competitive in Japan. The only times when XB got any momentum in Japan was upon release of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.

That momentum lasted maybe two weeks which I would argue does not even count as momentum.

The time where people purchase a console just for one reason has disappeared. Now consoles are about their UI, app support, gaming network, compatibility, streaming support, and gaming content.

At the time MS was changing gears towards Kinect so they probably weren't fully committed to Mass Effect 2 yet. And they were funding Dragon Age on their own. Also, Dragon Age was a multi-platform title that would have deterred MS from taking Bioware onto their own payroll.

It is quite conceivable that just as Mass Effect was launching and Dragon Age was at the peak of its development that they would have cash issues. It is not cheap to develop new IPs, especially a ...

I felt the same way a few years ago. I have literally thousands of games, movies, and CDs at home.

And I was spending a small fortune maintaining the habit.

At one time I was probably up to about $500 on media per month. But, now I have Spotify for my family, Netflix, EA Access and Game Pass. About $45 / month and I have access to tons of movies, music, and games.

Do I like that these companies control the content I consume? No. Bu...

We don't know that for certain. 8K TVs are now starting to appear in the mass-market. They are in their infancy for sure, but 8K is not out of reach in a few years. If I had a buck for every time someone questioned technology innovation I'd be a billionaire by now. I used my first bank machine in 1986, I used one of the first multi-processor computers in 1993, I had one of the first decent-sized cell phones in 1997, I had my first tablet computer in 2003 (Viewsonic), etc. etc. The...

It will be interesting how consoles move forward from today.

First, blu-ray's standard can theoretically move up to 128 GB discs, But games are getting bigger quickly. 128 GB won't be enough if next gen consoles are able to do 8K. And it will be barely enough for full 4K.

Second, I don't see anything wrong with selling a disc-less console beside a disc console thereby giving consumers choice.

Finally, the fact is that more...

Yes, the developer definitely had what I call "Peter Molyneux Syndrome". It is better to under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver.

Although I agree this is an issue, this is no more an issue than if I choose to stream on Spotify or Netflix rather than download.

You may think games are different but there are many games that are online dependent and charge subscriptions. And when they are down for a period of time don't refund or reimburse you in any way.

This is also a part of being part of leaders vs followers. Microsoft led by being one of the first console companies to provi...

I am unlikely to buy it, but I don't think any gamer should be deprived of it simply based on the hardware they chose to purchase. Even if it is not something I care about.

I want the world of timed-exclusivity and exclusivity to end. Whether it is XB, Switch, or PS, I think that exclusivity should die and all gamers should be able to enjoy all the games they want to play without having to buy more than one console.

Having more than one console is...

I see no value in buying physical games anymore. It is funny, in this type of thread 3-5 years ago digital buying would be mocked. Now, it is somewhat acceptable. And my guess is in another 3-5 years physical games will be an exception vs norm.

A new IP announcement is more likely to be an announcement of a new game within a dormant IP. The Coalition studio has not done anything since gears 4 so if they were to revive the stealth game they showed earlier as a Perfect Dark game that would be very cool.

Buying EA is a tough thing to do. People assume it would go exclusively for XB. But the cost to buy EA would not let them do that. EA's is market value is based on it being a multi-platform company and prob...
