I'm fine with upper management wanting a firm grip on their company, but there's a difference between being a dick and getting employees to dig deep and come up with the best they're able to offer. A great director knows how to do the latter. I'm sure Jaffe isn't a dick, and that he just meant that being professional doesn't always get the job done, which is true. Director's use a variety of methods to get the best out of their crew. Just make sure it doesn't s...
The reviews are off big time. I tried setting it straight for some, but apparently the words of Destructoid, GameSpot, and BitTech are greater than fellow gamers. Journalists refuse to take note of Obsidian as a company. They've always had terrible presentation skills (presentation = polished gameplay, refined controls, sleek animation sets, etc). However, the heart and soul of their games lies in the storytelling craft.
Sometimes, I prefer them over Bioware, which is say...
I don't know about you, but most people would consider an 84% at the college level to be very good. I think I'll trust the upper end, because they seem to account for Obsidian as a studio. Others expect some amazing AAA production, which is not what Obsidian does. They don't have a big enough staff to pull it off.
I hate number games, but I thought I'd just give you a taste of things to come. These numbers are just for April, and I've backed up every last one. Have fun.

I'd pay hard money for this game if it ever game to be. lol
I'd like to see this kind of pricing. They may take a hit in profits at first, but after a while I'm sure word of mouth will spread and casuals won't be as intimidated as they would a $60 price tag. I'd try to enact this business model if given the chance. Again, I'm willing to pay more, but I think cheaper prices will work out for both developers and consumers.
I bought mine six months after launch thanks to a goof on a KMart coupon. I felt like I was stealing for something as cheap as $400. I should have payed much more for as often as I use it.
You seem to be under the impression that Microsoft will continue to sell consistently, which I doubt. I think the sales will drop gradually at first, and then faster and faster until they release Natal, which will see a moderate spike. The rest will depend on consumers.
In addition to that, you assume Sony's lead in Europe is "marginal." It's actually much more than that. You must be solely looking at the UK, which is not Europe. Sorry to burst your bubble. ...
Obsidian is famous for their terrible presentations. However, the reason why their fan base has continually expanded is because of their masterly told stories and game mechanics. Again, when I refer to mechanics, I'm not talking about how the game played, but the ideas behind the systems involved. This is just one such case of great idea but poor execution. Hopefully, a sequel, if there is one, will improve on the basis. I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to support this g...
Yes, these two are a must. Sucker Punch is also fairly flexible. They hire freshly graduated programmers. They've done well for as an independent studio. Time to help them out Sony. In all honesty though, I wonder how they feel about Microsoft, being as they used to work for them. They split from them over a decade ago, but I wonder if they'd even consider working on a non-Sony platform. Maybe they don't need to acquire them, but I'd like them to anyways.
It's about what I expected. They charge $90 for a wireless network adapter. Why would they charge less for this? It just didn't make sense. Nor did the naysayers when I suggested a $120 price tag. Whatever. It is what it is. It's Microsoft's bed. They made it; they'll have to sleep in it too.
God of War III is still my personal Game of the Year. I haven't played Red Dead Redemption, yet, so I don't know how that compares, but right now here's how I'd rank 'em:
1) God of War III
2) Mass Effect 2
3) Heavy Rain
4) Final Fantasy XIII
5) Bayonetta
I've played a lot of games (read close to twenty) this year. It was hard to come up with a Top 5, but I honestly believe these five are the best of the ...
Um... the score's fake. I don't know why someone would bull$hi+ a score like that, especially since it's a rather obscure game compared to most other titles. I have high hopes as well. We'll see how it pans out in their next issue. ;)
I'd like to see in addition to all that Eight Days and a new Syphon Filter. I'm sure there's more others could surely only dream about: Legend of Dragoon 2. But I'd be pretty happy if they announce even but half of those at E3.
My guess is that Sony will push 3D gaming at E3. Their whole presentation might be in 3D. I imagine the press will be all shades. They'll likely show off Killzone 3, Resistance 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, Agent, Gran Turismo 5, The Last Guardian, and inFamous 2 (definitely going to reveal this baby, since it probably will release before E3 next year). They'll probably have a Final Fantasy Versus XIII surprise trailer or something... maybe. And the final reveal will be a teaser for Uncharted...
Sounds like a nice deal, but, first off, it's a rumor: probably a made up one at that. Second, I already have a 360. I don't need a slim. Maybe when it breaks down, but I doubt it. I'll probably pick up Natal separately. Provided it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
I thought they were already spotted in the wild. There might be a new bundle or two, but this new shipment's probably it. I'm guessing this is Sony's attempt at trying to meet the demand, which I'm sure they'll fail at again. More shortages to come, especially after E3.
True, but will it matter if they can't build a hack until the game has long since been in circulation? Or for that matter a system? The idea's not pointless. There's a lesson to be learned here. The very fact that they're working towards that goal makes me happy.
True, but IGN's survey is highly inconclusive. Won't believe a word of it 'til the product hits the mainstream. The commercial market will matter far more than any early hear-say.
Naughty Dog to me has always been the best. They have an eye for cinematic experiences like none other, except maybe Bioware. Remember Jak 3? That game was a catalyst for everything that was Uncharted. Way too much epic in that game. I could barely restrain myself. Naughty Dog has continually outdone themselves since. That coupled with their cinematic vision leads me to believe they are the best studio currently working in the gaming industry today.
Meanwhile, Bioware is ridi...
