Anybody know if this is 1.3 or 1.4? If the latter, than new PS3 owners will be ready for the 3D upgrade later this year. ;)
So, where's Ico? Or, better yet, Silent Hill 2? I mean, seriously, how could you forget these two gems. I'll agree with BioShock, but the gameplay felt all but 'mature.' As for Prince of Persia, really? Alan Wake has been fairly surprising thus far. If it keeps it up, it'll probably join the list really soon.
Also, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, was a hallmark for me. It took a dated concept and redressed it into something tangible, modern even. The fanta...
Sounds exciting. I hope more developers take after Quantic Dream. I'd like to see some more mature games for once. I was there day one for Heavy Rain. I'll be there day one again for Horizon. Hopefully, they'll reveal more at E3, but I doubt it. Here's hoping. ^_^
Okay, you're getting a bit carried away here. Mario Galaxy changed gaming? Name one title influenced by Mario's latest outing. Don't even bother listing Ratchet and Clank as Insomniac has been pulling off similar level designs for the last six-seven years I suppose.
As for jleack, graphics matter not compared to the experience. You could have the most beautiful game ever, but the gameplay could still suck b@lls. No offense, God of War III is my personal favorite g...
Well, it's the same argument some critics used against Uncharted 2. Can you blame them for fighting back?
Wrong. First off, this is just one person: one side of the story. Who knows how it really went.
Second, this is the quote you're looking for:
"And you can't exactly argue with one of the owners of the company when he doesn't want to listen."
Sounds to me like he gave up early on. I've worked with people like this before. They'll listen. Just give it time and don't give up. They'll understand eventually. I...
I read the article, and the guy did a lot of b*tching. Not saying that I wouldn't under similar circumstances, but he expressly said he didn't argue much as it's hard to argue with the owner. In my opinion, he's just venting. A lot of companies have this problem. They used to give programmers and artists a lot of leeway, and basically design the games for them, which led to a lot of $hitty games.
Companies are finally beginning to realize it pays to have profe...
The Silent Hill collection sounds delicious. Do it, Konami!
Have you played the game? Alan Wake is easily a candidate for GotY based on story alone. Gameplay may get repetitive, but it's refreshing nonetheless. Also, I love the episodic approach. I see potential for it, and think they should stick to it.
They're pretty annoying though. I wanted to punch the kid square in the face. Regardless, I'm tired of the "uncanny valley" comments. There is no such thing as "uncanny valley." Get over it. It's just a term people coined trying to downplay their insecurities over life like animations. Besides, it's not as if they didn't have any aid whatsoever. Animations were recorded via motion capture. One day, that stiffness between animations will go away. Quantic...
I'm saying ignore the problems in favor of the ideas behind the gameplay and story. What's wrong with that. Nothing falls flat, and that's what presentation is. It's something that looks, sounds, and feels slick. That's not Obsidian. That's what I'm saying you should ignore. Everything else though is pretty f#cking awesome.
Clover Studio = Platinum Games (makers of Bayonetta)
Highly agreed. I have a very similar list. However, I'd switch God of War 3 and Mass Effect 2 around.
I haven't finished RDR or SMG2 yet, but here's my picks for GotY thus far. Actually, I've done this before. I'll just copy and paste a previous comment. I still think God of War III is my personal fav thus far. The list that follows is in order from most likely for me. All in all, a very good year:
1) God of War III
2) Mass Effect 2
3) Heavy Rain
4) Final Fantasy XIII
5) Bayonetta
I've played a lot of games ...
lol Only people who'd disagree with this is people who haven't played Alan Wake. Alan Wake is equal to Lost. RDR... well I can't really find a comparison, but it's not near as good as No Country for Old Men, Unforgiven, nor The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Still, RDR isn't bad per se. Just not on the same level as Alan Wake in terms of story. Then again, nor is Mass Effect 2. Alan Wake will likely win Best Story for me this year.
I remember taking a survey asking about this not long ago. They specifically asked about Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. At least I think they did. I can almost swear I took a survey on it maybe a month ago.
Anyways, I answered yes to a remastered version in high definition, of course. :D
You will not be disappointed. Think Silent Hill. Now, imagine Lost. That's Alan Wake for 'ya. And let me tell you, it is hellaciously awesome. It has a really good story. So, if you're into that, you'll like this. Really good writing. Really good acting. Not much to be disappointed about. I'm incredibly excited for a sequel and future DLC. I wish more games took after Alan Wake. Nothing like a good serial. :D
If you like Heavy Rain or Lost, you should pick up Alan Wake. Trust me. You'll thank me later. It's so good! Easily one of the best games of the year and highly underrated.
Wow, you couldn't be more wrong. My brother's 360 failed within the first year. Before Gears of War even released. They didn't have a three year warranty then. Now imagine how he felt about buying another console when they said they wouldn't be able to repair it because it was TECHNICALLY Error 71. The next 360 he got red ringed within the first week. Of course there was a gap between the two because he had to save up money for it. This time, he was smart and bought a warranty...
I never enjoyed Return of the Jedi. Thought the film was massively overrated. The Empire Strikes Back was the cream of the crop, but why are they comparing Mass Effect to Star Wars? ME is better.
