I hope every conference going forward matches the brilliance EA has shown here.
Smart? From a business stand point? No way. At least, it wasn't smart to do it live. Gamers across the world witnessed Microsoft bribe the press right in front of their eyes thanks to Spike TV and various members of the press. Now, gamers are holding the media responsible. Many have already requested several outlets to return the gifts in hopes that they will reclaim their integrity. It's a pretty serious issue in fact. It will probably deface Microsoft for some time now. Especially c...
What I can't believe is how no one saw this coming. Seriously, Microsoft scheduled an event that no major broadcaster such as G4 were able to air live. They were on damage control before E3 even began. The conference was at an unknown time, where select members of the press even knew about it. The conference was before E3 even began. Probably to try and keep away consumers from the demonstrations (read prerecorded footage). This was a private event in hopes that bloggers wouldn't dest...
So I take it you've played Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Resonance of Fate, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, NIER, Arc Rise Fantasia, Xenoblade, Tales of Graces, and Muramasa: The Demon Blade? Oh, my bad. I thought you actually sampled a good portion of JRPGs that are currently out on consoles before spewing forth all that senseless crap. How silly of me.
And I highly doubt you've played Persona 3 or 4 if you are counting t...
Persona 4, Xenosaga: Episode 3, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Xenogears, Skies of Arcadia, and The World Ends With You were all better than Final Fantasy VII. Notice how most of the games I listed had incredibly complex stories. Save your breath. JRPGs are far from over.
Sorry, I could have worded that better.
I meant to say that PS3 development for MGR could have been pulled until the time window for exclusivity passes. It's just a possibility if this rumor is to be believed.
You must have never played Suikoden. Don't know about you, but I'm eagerly anticipating Suikoden VI.
Maybe, but I could see Metal Gear Rising remaining solely on the 360. Kojima is hardly involved. He probably doesn't even care. Konami went multiplatform for the money. If Microsoft, were to offer something, they might take it. Even if it's "exclusive", it would probably only be a timed exclusive. Kind of like how MGS2 first appeared on the PS2, and then was ported to the Xbox. That'd be my guess at least, if this rumor was true that is.
Would be nice? I'd piss myself if Shenmue III were to ever be announced.
Doubt it. For once, I'm incredibly excited for a racer. More so than Gran Turismo 5. People have always attributed gaming to passing time. It's sad really. This is probably the only reason gaming hasn't advanced as rapidly over the last ten years as it is now. With Uncharted 2, people began to realize gaming wasn't about alleviating boredom. It's about the experience.
Evolution Studios has nailed it. It took them three iterations, but they nailed it this t...
Maybe, but some people prefer a bit of intellectual sophistication. That's why many people watch TV shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, or Damages versus something like The Big Bang Theory or Ghost Whisperer. Hassling people because of different tastes is just as idiotic.
These screenshots look kind of weird. I'm guessing that's because the leaked shots were trying to capture a 3D image. lol Megaton!
Sony should stop all these reveals. They're blowing my mind. I'm not sure I can take it anymore. What could they possibly have left? They've shown LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, and now inFamous 2. They've even shown off some 3D demos and SOCOM 4 via PlayStation Move. I can't imagine what E3 will be like. This right here is gaming heaven.
This will be the first issue of Game Informer I pick up off of newsstands in some time. 10 Pages! Sounds awesome.
I'm making this post to apologize for calling Alpha-Male22 a dick and hotheaded. I was, in fact, hotheaded myself, and he didn't deserve it. He brought up some reasonable points, but I was taken back by his word usage and let it get the better of me. I can be pretty vulgar on occasion. Again, I'm sorry.
Anyways, I agree with him to a certain extent. However, I still don't believe someone should be forced to acknowledge an arbitrary definition for the sake of e...
Part two of an epic-ly long comment ( split apart by your fast responses... touché ):
First party games like Uncharted have been selling like crazy. Where do you think all that money goes? Some, of course, to the middle man, but cents matter here when you're selling millions upon millions of copies. Microsoft has Halo, but Sony has a lot more. Uncharted 2 alone has sold close to 4 million copies, about the same as Halo 3: ODST. Uncharted 2 raked in about as much cash...
A comment so epic it has two parts:
Your objectivity is appreciated here. I'm sure many will disagree, but you brought up some good points. However, you were only partially objective, taking the side of anti-"fanboy", which is just as fanboy-ish in my opinion. There are strengths and then there are weaknesses. Every single argument in the history of existence has had both, including yours. So don't act like yours has impeccable logic either.

lol, Alan Wake has an actual, you know, competent story. Unlike most games I might add. For once, the writer didn't treat us like dumb a$$es. I like the approach Sam Lake's taking: serial dramas FTW! I can see this as Season 1, and the inevitable Alan Wake 2 as Season 2. Alan Wake is full of potential.
I feel sorry for all those people who missed out on the collector's edition (came with a book that drew on the mythology, a soundtrack, additional commentary, and a code to get the first round of DLC for free). Great game! Just finished it a couple days ago. Can't wait to start it all over again.
Sorry, but Episode 3 was better than both A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. The Empire Stikes Back is still the best, but Episode 3 was pretty close. ;)
agreed. I'd be pissed if Sony stooped that low. Hopefully, they call Microsoft out on it. Bribing the press is a sign of weakness. M$ is a joke right now. Microsoft is lucky to still have Bungie (Halo: Reach) and Epic (Gears of War III). Without them, their conference would have been by far the worst conference of all time.
Impressing gamers is more important than impressing journalists. Sony knows this. They'll let the games do the talking, which is ironic, really, s...
