I humbly disagree. While Nocturne has an engrossing atmosphere and great writing, I found DDS2 to be far better thanks to the excellent cast of characters full of psychological undertones. The narrative was better as well thanks to the greater emphasis on philosophical and sociological subtext, metaphors, symbolism, and parallels. Also, the Hindu references were intellectually stimulating as it called for greater religious tolerance with the realistic way they portrayed it.
And the trolls come out. Nice to see who all's passing judgement when they themselves haven't played the game nor are keeping up with previews. If they did, this shouldn't be a surprise. Also, this isn't the first review. Dengeki covered it before Famitsu. They gave it an S.
I'm starting to wonder how people can call Final Fantasy XIII a bad game yet praise Mass Effect 2 (which has one of the worst stories and set of characters) and Skyrim. lol Opinions. E...
I'm insanely excited for this game. Really enjoyed the original. I'm currently replaying it and am even more impressed with Toriyama's subtle writing. The direction is simply masterful. I think it's about time I go out and pick up the OST.
You mean, just like Kinect? Hmm... I guess they did learn.
I'm pretty sure he meant multiplatform. ; )
Square Enix never lost me. So excited for FF Type-0 and FF XIII-2. Not to mention releasing Tactics Ogre, Dissidia Duodecim, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, and a bunch of other games over the last year. Square is one of the only companies I wasn't disappointed with last year.
Am I the only one who finds this astounding? I'm eager to see what all these studios are working on. I'm glad Microsoft's opening up more first-party studios. They need it. It'll pay off in the long run. I hope they're not all for Kinect either.

lol I couldn't resist.
Legend of Heroes, where?
Besides that, I'd have waited until FF Type-0 comes out to do this. I hear it's an extremely good game and the perfect PSP Swan Song... even though we're still waiting for Trails in the Sky 2 and Grand Knights History.
Also, this list makes the PSP seem depressing. There are a lot more good games than that. The PSP has almost become the direct successor to the PS2.
I doubt this so much. Ueda and Sony have like a love relationship going on. Sony personally green lit all of his projects (ever since ICO's prototype on PSOne) and treats him like management. Hell, they let all of his college buddies form a small group in a recess of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's studio. There's approximately 50 members that are a part of the team, and he treats them like family. Seriously, he doesn't even outsource any aspect of his games to other devel...
I believe she worked on the event scenes of the first two, but she really wasn't actively participating with the design of the narrative until the third. So, she has that to her credit. Personally, I still can't forgive her for the horrible characterizations of Baird and Cole (whom I find to be extremely racist however unintentional), and Epic for not coming up with a convincing or relevant history for their Greco-Roman world.

Honestly, this is just stupid. I don't understand how anybody could get angry over these updates. You do know, online is completely free. Sony doesn't owe you anything. When you payed for the PS3 you didn't pay for cross-game chat or a better OS. This is what you get. Would it be nice? Sure. But don't expect it. I almost forgot we even had a 3.0. o_O
I want it to be. I'm looking for excuses to pick it up, but 3 games hardly do it for me: the other being Gunstringer. I'll probably hop to it later, but I'm really waiting to see if Microsoft has anything else in store.
See if this were the beginning of the console generation, I would have snapped it up in a heartbeat. But now that we're approaching this generation's final ACTIVE years (7 generally is what I expect now what with the PS2's success), it&...
I honestly can't say I've played a better game than Uncharted 3 this year. I'm currently working my way through Deus Ex, and it's really not that good. The gameplay is just not fun. The minigames are frustrating. I mean, if detection weren't entirely luck-based it would be bearable, but as is it's unacceptable. It has great writing though. The voice acting leaves much to be desired, but if you can get past all that I suppose there's some merit it to it.

I hate you. Don't get my hopes up! lol
Kudos to Microsoft! Nicely done. Now, take this opportunity to announce the acquisition or creation of new first party studios to get all of these gamers excited. The only reason I haven't invested in Kinect yet is because the only two interesting titles I see for it are Dance Central 1 and 2. I was going to take a dive this last Friday, but I had second thoughts once I considered the lack of interesting games for the system and the peripheral in general.
Completely agreed... except on the narrative. I had absolutely zero problems with the story, and thought they explained everything extremely well. Yes, it was more subtle, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Also, while the spectacle was intense to say the least, I didn't mind the more linear gameplay as it really added to the direction and emotion behind some of these scenes.
U2, had many scenes like this as well. Some weren't even nearly as long (the Jeep pa...
Might dip on this for the Origins pack.
Sure, it's his opinion, but he obviously hasn't played many games if that's all he thinks the PS2 is good for. Besides, I can't take anyone seriously who puts Shadow of the Colossus halfway down any list.
My personal favorite is Digital Devil Saga 2, which sadly no one has played. However, I find it hard to believe anybody could have neglected the following:
God of War, Persona 3/4, Jak and Daxter, Final Fantasy X/XII, Ratchet and Clank, Sly C...
Wow, UC3 was a clean sweep. Won like six of their awards I believe: GotY, Best PS3, Best Graphics, Best Male Performance, Best Multiplayer, Best Action-Adventure... am I missing any? Didn't really expect this with all the love Skyrim has been getting lately. But agreed, they're wholly deserved.
