Yeah, stick with PC and Steam, which do the exact same things. That makes sense. /s
IMHO, a true gamer would support the industry. Yes it'd suck if Sony prevented you from playing borrowed games, but they might implement a feature which would allow for a limited amount of activations at any one time which would solve the issue (they already do this with their digital games).
I look at it this way. If the game is from a studio you support, why not pay full price. While the developers may not necessarily see that money, the fact that you made a sale that early takes one away from their shipments. If they sell out of their shipments, the store will order more from the publisher. The publisher will record these numbers and increase the developer's budget for the next game (or give them a chance with a risky IP).
If the shipments sell out fast eno...
ummm... fuck yeah! This just jumped to one of my most anticipated games. The fact that Sanderson's penning the narrative is more than I could ever ask. The guy is going to be writing circles around the entire industry. He has a God given gift that is simply unparalleled. Just don't forget about Stormlight and Warbreaker.
Art is no longer art the moment directors, writers, artists, composers, etc make concessions to appeal to their "fans" rather than their creative vision. You shouldn't have to choose between one or the other though.
I'm partial to Digital Devil Saga 2, but Persona 3 is probably my second favorite game. Followed by Persona 4, Final Fantasy X, Xenosaga, and Suikoden.
While I'm glad Remedy spread the love, most of these sales came from the 360 version. The PC version hasn't even had a physical release yet. Besides, the digital version hasn't been out for that long. So, the effect won't be seen for some time yet I think.
Regardless, I hope those who don't have a 360 but have a PC pick this game up. It is an extremely underrated game, and one of my overall favorites from this generation.
For Alan Wake, one of the most pirated games of 2010, it is. I didn't think a digital release would help that much. Good for them. I've always supported Remedy. Great group of developers. Hopefully Microsoft will give them a big budget to go all out on Alan Wake 2.
They can and are. Hate to say it, but the movie industry hasn't been too great over these past couple years. The only real standout movies I've seen of late are The Hurt Locker and The Descendants. Other than that, movies have been trying to measure up to the glorious year that was 2007. Even 2006 quality would be better than where we're at now.
Regardless, a couple examples that prove this wrong: Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, flower, Journey, the Uncharted Trilogy...
story was overly convoluted and cheesy but game was pretty fun
I don't think you understand what he meant. Nor do I believe the author does. The idea of game mechanics is that there is a structure to them. These "game mechanics" or interactive features power the game world and everything you do in it.
For instance, in a shooting game, you shoot people. He's saying, he'd rather not have a structure to his controls. He'd rather have a general control scheme and assign different actions to each button. That way the...
Developers. Otherwise, you can't call it art. This is the exact same reason I hate avatars. Don't like the ending. Tough. Deal with it. It's a creative choice.
Not just that, but I believe their first game was published by Microsoft. I love the company. I think they're great and love that they focus on character development and storytelling. I wish more studios would take the same focus. My only complaint is the overuse of the Unreal Engine.
I understand that you can change the texturing to look nothing like Gears and Rainbow, but the way the games perform look very similar. You can almost tell when someone is using the Unreal E...
The problem is independent developers don't exactly have job security. One flop and they'll be closing down for sure. That's why Bioware signed on to EA instead of publishing their own games. Though, I'm sure if Bioware had the resources to make something like ME2 and 3 on their own they would self-publish.
Quantic Dream wants that simple assurance Bioware has with EA, and they developed a good relationship with Sony. So it's easy to see why they would say...
well, if you're referring to the overall gap, Japan does matter. As does the UK, Spain, Germany, Australia, and every other country in the world. If you're referring to the gap in the US, well the PS3 will probably never catch up. Not without a huge price cut and marketing campaign, at least.
Completely disagreed. In terms of story, I'd normally say Drake's Fortune was the best because of the fresh and off-the-cuff writing in combination with the excellent character development, setting, and mythology built around El Dorado... BUT I know deep down Drake's Deception was the best. Easily.
I could go on and on as to why, but there was a nice little article I feel upon related to the topic. She does a nice job highlighting exactly why Drake's Deception...
wow, you're first two complaints are the exact reasons I hated ME2. You're last two, I'd replace with:
shouldn't have changed the gameplay between ME1 and 2
lame shooter mechanics versus the robust customization in ME1
Are you being paid for this? Because otherwise, that's just plain sad.
Still, the graph is off. Sony reported over 1.2 million sold, yet the graph shows 1.1. The 3DS sold over 1.2 million units as well. They should be around the same level.
Good, I've always hated the typical "hero's journey." It makes no sense, and I'm glad movies and books are straying away from the model.
I think the reason why games are so expensive is because of used game sales. If we eliminated second-hand sales, prices would drop and companies would see more profits. I can only see it as a win-win. The tough part is getting people to let go of the used game market (for at least this gen's games).
