Well, I feel the reviewer sumed the game's flaws pretty well, even when he perhaps focused a little too much on them-
However, he's right in something. "...all of these things will either make you smile with their sexual-quirkiness or shirk in horror from what you're seeing.", quoting him, it pretty much holds true.
Though, even with most, if not all of its flaws, AT:Q managed to be a weirdly entertaining and charming game. You know, of ...
I actually liked the Luminous Arc games (Shame for the 3rd one not being translated), simply because, even if nothing special, they were pretty enjoyable.
I particulary liked the character interactions, some of them were downright hilarious and made the games much more fun to play through.
The Iris series was a (rather nice for some) twist of the series into a more combat-diven RPG, instead of alchemy and whatnot. You simply had your expectations set on what are two VERY different styles of games.
"It was cutscene after cutscene."
...Because GUST draws that from eroges, for one. Besides, in my opinion, Rorona actually could've used MORE events.

"Critics"
Actually, I personally believe that a monopolization of the videogame industry, at least when it comes to hardware, would make companies seem less...silly...with their unnecessary gimmicks and other stupid crap they put in their devices in an attempt to "revolutionize" the market with their own failures. I mean, just look at the 3DS and the NGP- one has a silly 3D device as its main feature, and the other has just so much crap crammed in it it's not even funny.

Here you go.
Wouldn't call it exactly a "masterpiece", and such word gets thrown around way more than it should- however, it is a great, pretty damn fun beat 'em up.
How reviews would be better, in my opinion: Ditch scores.
An arbitrary number to show off a game's value in a critic's opinion benefits nobody but the marketing teams of publishers. Drop that aside, and what's left are actual reviews mentioning the game's flaws and strong points, both.
...Of course, the inconsistence of criticisms and the idiots who write them would still persist, but it would be a step foward.
You're not unlike a traumatized child whispering to himself over and over "It's gonna be alright".
Perhaps a delusion, or is it simple remorse? Either way, I would like to ask of you...
Stop writing like you were an advertiser.
Thank you.

Why, but the copy/pasted portion of your comment barely makes sense considering the context.
@KwietStorm
...
I hope not. Level scaling is the stupidest thing to ever cross RPG developer's minds since forever.
Legion's NOT playable?
Gee, BioWare. How I hate thee.
I think Aksys is a pretty cool guy. Eh jokes around and doesn't afraid of anything
Eh...
Seriously? I mean, you ARE aware it's MORTAL KOMBAT, right?
The website's name is "real otaku gamer".
Yet, they're interviewing some no-name woman getting more attention than she deserves.
Deary me, what happened to the real weaboos? 2D, onaholes and dakimakuras are the way of real men- not this, for god's sake!
Now, the guys doing these interviews might not even be actual otakus- if so, then [Copy paste Urmomlol's comment here]
Seriously, guys.
Seriously, I'm not against gore when used correctly, especially for storyline purposes, but when it's just included in a silly way (See: Dragon Age, God of War, and, as this article mentions, Mortal Kombat) just to attract "hardcore" imbeciles (Because gore = mature and hardcore in the minds of these guys, and hell, most of the gaming community, in fact)...it's just annoying.
It has great character models, (supposedly) gameplay, and 3D breasts; of course this is no surprise.
Honestly, if the gameplay turns out to be solid, as well, I would buy it, myself- proven that it gets localized, that's it.
"Looks like it was built around the old persona engine also."
Actually, it was developed with Gamebryo.
And truth be told, once in motion, the game looks pretty. Surely it's no technological amazement, but the graphics are easy on the eyes and work rather good.
"hell the only original game i can think of releasing on any "platform" later this year is the last guardian"
Catherine. El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. Child of Eden. L.A. Noire. Shadows of the Damned. Asura's Wrath. NeverDead.
Surely there's alot of sequels, but new IPs aren't exactly extinct.
Incredible list. I personally have played Siren, Eternal Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, Saya no Uta, Clock Tower, Rule of Rose, Yume Nikki and System Shock 2, and they were all fantastic.
Also, another great game worth checking out is Irisu Syndrome, a freeware (and thankfully translated) indie puzzle horror game with an incredible storyline and some great tricks to creep you out (A .txt file in the game's folder that reveals some secrets, everchanging, bizarre images, and so...
